What is everyone's favourite books/poems? Personally, Personal Helicon by Seamus Heeney is one of my favourite poems along with Stanza 137 of Canto Four of Childe Harold's Pilgrammage by Lord Byron

' But I have lived, and have not lived in vain:
My mind may lose its force, my blood its fire,
And my frame perish even in conquering pain,
But there is that within me which shall tire
Torture and Time, and breathe when I expire:
Something unearthly, which they deem not of,
Like the remembered tone of a mute lyre,
Shall on their softened spirits sink, and move
In hearts all rocky now the late remorse of love. '

And as for books, I'm only a teen so I still read stuff like CHERUB,Harry Potter and Darren Shan..

One of my favourite authors is Michael Crichton. Anyone looking for a good read and hard to put down book should definitely check out his books.

Wow I must say that's a great response. If you hate literature so much why bother posting? Reading is a great way to keep the mind active.

I don't read too much, but when I do it consists of mostly fiction-adventure stories. Some books that I've read have been the Harry Potter series, the Lord of the Rings books, the Twilight series (sadly) and the Tales of the Three Worlds series by Ian Irvine.

Well i just finished reading Mutual Aid: A Factor of Evolution by Pjotr Kropotkin

In this book Pjotr look at the importance of mutual aid, in the evolution of both the animal world and of and the world of humans. And this why we got societies in the human and animal worlds. Pjotr makes a good point in how we can see it, if we got a war. The two conflicting nations, cities, parties, or tribes, no matterr how it goes in the middel of a war, we always see the of mutual aid within the nations. Someone will try to help, the ones that are wounded and the homeless.

Quote:
And man is appealed to to be guided in his acts, not merely by love, which is always personal, or at the best tribal, but by the perception of his oneness with each human being. In the practice of mutual aid, which we can retrace to the earliest beginnings of evolution, we thus find the positive and undoubted origin of our ethical conceptions; and we can affirm that in the ethical progress of man, mutual support not mutual struggle -- has had the leading part. In its wide extension, even at the present time, we also see the best guarantee of a still loftier evolution of our race.

In this quote we see, that he thinks the evolution of the human race is not born of struggle between us, but insteed it is born by the support we give to your fellow humans.

Darren Shan! Cirque Du Freak! I read all 12 (I think it's 12) books. Need to re-read them sometime. Absolutely loved them.
