The TitanTron flickers on, a low and quiet hum filling the arena.

The screen remains a blood red as the beginning drums of Bad Religion's "Overture" sound over the PA system.

The screen blinks. If you look close enough, you can see some sort of movement.

Like there's something just a shade lighter moving around. It's hard to tell what it is.

The strings in the song kick in, and it's starting to build in intensity.

The contrast between the background and the foreground becomes more definitive, but we still can't quite make it out.

And the song breaks. "Sinister Rouge" by Bad Religion begins now, starting with a ripping guitar riff.

The foreground's clear.

Silver letters scrolling across the screen.

BANNAN KNECHT

The fancy text scrolling and the blood red background, they fade away as the music does.

In the place of the Photoshop letters and AfterEffects text animation, we see something more upfront and to-the-point. It's a wide shot of a man sitting in a blood red leather chair. We can gather some information about the room he's in. Black carpeting, dull and crackling light (which is probably the result of a nearby fireplace), a Samurai-style sword collection on the wall to his right and our left. The chair he sits in, it's a vintage style upholstery with gold embellishments. Not run-around, lame gold but the real thing. The man sitting there, he has to be at least seven feet tall. He's pushing about three hundred and fifty pounds, and it doesn't look like any of that weight is fat. He's wearing a blood red shirt underneath a black leather jacket, wearing black driving gloves and black leather pants. His head's buzzed, and it's hiding something that we can't see; a large scar on the left side of his head from an incident he'd rather not talk about. His dark, piercing blue eyes are fixated on the camera bringing us this lovely footage. His lips curl into a sneer and he begins to speak.

"Blood and Guts," he says, his thick German accent coming through clearly. "Blood and Guts indeed."

A quick frame of something flashes across the screen, something in black and white. We're pretty sure it was an image of a car crash, but it's hard to tell. Just one frame. Fight Club comes to mind. Bannan leans back in his chair, seeking maximum comfort.

"Blood and Guts," he repeats. "Brutality beyond belief."

Two monochrome frames this time. It's rather clear that we're looking at another collision, this time a train slamming against a car that had been left on its tracks. It looks bad, and you can't help but wonder what happened to the occupant. Where he or she ended up, if he or she had a spouse, children, pets, a favorite charity, et cetera et cetera.

"Fractures."

Three frames; a bull fighter being flung into the air by his adversary. One of his arms is bent the wrong way, the other holding a red cape in determined futility.

"Lacerations."

Four frames; a woman being thrown through a plate glass window, blood soaked shards suspended in mid-air. Bannan reaches into his jacket pocket.

"Brutality," five frames of our subject driving an elbow into an opponent's face as he's slumped against the turnbuckle. Bannan grabs his pack of Camel Wides and black Zippo.

"Beyond," five frames of our subject driving an opponent, powerbomb style, driving the back of his neck against the mat. Bannan pulls a cigarette out of the pack and takes the filter between his teeth.

"Belief," five frames of our subject driving the top of an opponent's head into an open folding chair. Bannan rips the filter off the cigarette and places it between his lips, lighting it.

He takes a short breath and lets the smoke trickle out from between his lips like water from a fountain in slow motion before exhaling quickly, sending a large puff out into the open air with some velocity.

"One question, that's all I have for you lot."

A sadistic grin crawls across his pale lips.

"Who's going to be the first to go?"

The TitanTron promptly shuts off, the image compressing itself into a small, white light in the middle before fading out entirely. A gray bar crosses the length of the screen, reading "No Signal" in dark red.

The message, then, changes. It reads "No Exit."
