A Painful Truth: Raw Report for 6/15/09

We start off the special “3 for all” edition of Monday night Raw with a recap of last week, where Dave Batista was taken out by Randy Orton and Legacy. We see constant shots to the arm, and we hear Batista repeatedly shouting: “I’m  gunna  get you! It’s never gunna be over!!” The video recaps Orton’s rematch clause challenge, and Triple H returning to the show, from the ambulance! The video was well put together, but a little long for my tastes.

Now, the show starts for real, with Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler recapping the card, and the 3 big title matches for the show.

Match 1: Chris Jericho Vs. Rey Mysterio for the Intercontinental title.
The match starts with Jericho cutting a short promo, talking about how Raw has gotten worse, ever since Jericho left. He calls the fans hypocrites, before playing up his own skills, and he talks about how he is Rey’s saviour, and the mask is Rey’s let down.  A typical Jericho promo, very good, and very well refined. But Rey’s music hits and the match starts as the bell rings!

Rey starts off with the momentum, taking Jericho down and hitting him with punches.  15 seconds into the match, we see our first hurricanrana, which is quickly followed by a clothesline to the outside! As Jericho climbs back in, Rey hits a leg drop as he is still in the ropes, and a quick cover gets a  1. Then, after a couple of quick counters, both men are down, hurt on the outside!!

We come back to Rey Mysterio on the turnbuckle, and Jericho charging at him, but Rey raises a leg which Jericho catches, only to be hit by an enziguri! Jericho falls onto the ropes, and Rey goes for a 619, but Jericho gets up quickly and counters it into a backbreaker! A cover, and a kick out at 2! Jericho goes for the mask, but Rey holds on. A good couple of moves by Mysterio, and he hangs Jericho out, quickly going for the west coast pop, which Jericho seems to catch, but Rey turns it into a cover for a 2 count! As Jericho is on the outside, after a low dropkick from Rey, Mysterio springs over the ropes, to take Jericho out!!! The two make their way back into the ring, and when Jericho goes for a superplex, Rey counters into a rolling powerbomb off the top rope! Again, though, the cover ends in a 2 count. Jericho gets up, and Rey goes for his special bulldog, but Jericho counters into a cover for the two count! Jericho gets thrown onto the ropes, and Rey goes for a 619! Countered by Jericho, Rey is on the ropes! Jericho goes for a 619! Rey bounces off the ropes, landing a moonsault for a 2 count! Jericho thrown to the ropes again, 619 connects, but when Rey goes for the West Coast Pop, Jericho counters and gets in a codebreaker out of nowhere!!! Jericho gets the three count!

The Winner, and STILL Intercontinental champion:  Chris Jericho!!!

Next, we have Randy Orton being interviewed. Orton talks about how he injured Triple H, Batista and Ric Flair and how Triple H brought a sledgehammer, as he can’t stand up to Orton on his own. He also says he will win the fatal 4 way next, until he is interrupted by John Cena! Cena takes the mickey out of what Orton said, calling him gutless and spineless! Quite a good promo, with a bit of humour involved!

A quick recap of Vickie Guerrero’s I quit promo last week. Boy, am I glad to get her off my TV set! We then see Mr. McMahon, ready to announce the new GM of Raw!!! However, he says he won’t announce it, someone else will as he is selling Monday Night Raw!!!

Match 2: Tommy Dreamer Vs. Christian for the ECW Championship
We start off with a quick headlock from Christian, who is backed into the ropes and bounced off them. He dodges a kick from Dreamer and then connects with a spinning kick himself, covering for a 1 count. Christian is thrown to the turnbuckle, and then dodges the charge, just to be hung out by Dreamer. Cover, 1 count. Christian recovers and gets up the turnbuckle, jumping off and hitting Dreamer with a spinning elbow!! Christian, with all the momentum, throws Dreamer out of the ring, and then bounces over the ropes to take him down! Cover on Dreamer, 1 count. Dreamer fights back, but takes an elbow to the face near the turnbuckle. Christian goes for the spinning DDT of the turnbuckle, but Dreamer counters and throws him away. He bounces Christian off the ropes, and a free fall body drop follows. Cover on Christian, 2 count. Christian gets Dreamer into the corner as he fights back, but the charge is countered by a huge clothesline! They trade covers, both men getting a 2 count with neat counters. Dreamer goes for the DDT, but it’s countered into the Killswitch hold, yet Dreamer breaks free and with a small package, gets the Three count!!!

The Winner, and STILL ECW champion: Tommy Dreamer!!!

A quick recap of Batista’s surgery, before going on to the next match!

Match 3: Randy Orton Vs. John Cena Vs. Triple H Vs. Big Show for the WWE championship
The match starts, and Orton and Triple H pair off to trade blows, and Cena and Show do the same. Triple H gets the early advantage, smashing Orton’s head into the announcers’ table whilst Show traps Cena in a corner, hitting punch after punch. Cena and Orton are both down for the moment, so Triple H goes after Show, before we hit some ads.

We return to Cena and Triple H in the corner, with Orton attacking Triple H. Orton hits one knee drop, but the second is dodged by Triple H, who gets up and attacks Show. Cena teams up with Triple H briefly, taking it in turns to hit Show with big punches, before Cena clothesline show out of the ring! This leaves Cena and Triple H to face off for the moment, and a nice, free flowing set of moves leaves Cena with the momentum! Cena goes for the 5-knuckle shuffle, but The Game gets up and connects with a spinebuster! Triple H tries the Pedigree, but Cena counters for the Attitude Adjustment! The Game gets down, just to run into Show, who double-clotheslines both men down. Orton sides into the ring, and we’re back to The Game Vs. Orton and Cena Vs. Show.

Orton throws Triple H’s head into the steel steps, and then into the apron a couple of times! Cena tries to lift Show, but fails and falls, with Show forcing his shoulders down! The pin is broken by Orton at 2, though. Show gets ready for a Chokeslam on Cena, but Triple H tries to interfere, resulting in the setup for a double Chokeslam! The two men get out, and counter into a suplex, though! Orton takes advantage, and takes Cena and Triple H down, with some shots to the head! Orton tries to punt Big Show in the head, but Show catches the leg and begins to beat Orton down. Cena and Triple H try to intervene, but Show goes crazy, taking them all down! Splash from the second rope onto Cena from Show, and Orton breaks the pin again, at a count of 2! Big Show throws Orton out, and the spears Triple H! Cover! 2 count! Orton sees his chance, and goes for the RKO, but is thrown off by Show! The pedigree does connect on Show, though before he can cover, Cena hits the Attitude Adjustment! He goes for the pin on show, and gets a 2 count! Show gets up, for another Attitude Adjustment by Cena! Orton breaks the pin, throws Cena out of the ring and hits the RKO on Show! 3 count!!

The Winner, and the NEW WWE Champion: Randy Orton!!!

Mr McMahon makes his way to the ring, to announce the new owner of Monday Night Raw!! He speaks about although he does it with a heavy heart, he knows he has made the right decision to sell and about how the Money is more than worth it. Ladies and Gentlemen, your new owner of Raw...

DONALD J TRUMP!!!!

Donald Trump insults Vince’s running of the company, and says he must give back to the WWE universe. So, next week’s Raw will run commercial free!!! They argue for a bit, but Vince stops and says he is still in charge till next week, so, we will see a 10 man battle royale, with the winner becoming the number one contender for Orton’s new WWE title!!!

Match 4: Mickie James Vs. Rosa Mendes
This match was quite boring, to be frank with you. A bit of brawling, With Rosa Mendes taking the early advantage, before Mickie turned it around and won with a twisting DDT.

The Winner: Mickie James!!!

Hornswoggle and Goldust in the ring next, shooting T-shirts out to the crowd. However, The Miz interrupts, and talks to Donald Trump about becoming the new face of Monday Night Raw. He argues with Goldust and Hornswoggle, and it ends in a fight.

Next, CM Punk speaks about his cash in, and how he has no regrets. Matt interrupts, and says he’d have done the same thing. CM Punk argues with him, insulting him, then leaves.

Match 5: Cm Punk Vs. Edge Vs. Jeff Hardy for the World Heavyweight Championship
Jeff takes the initative, going after Punk and sending him flying into Edge. A roll up, Edge makes the save at 2. Punk slows things down, and takes Edge out of the ring, before following him by going over the ropes! Jeff follows suit, doing the same to Punk! Punk fights back, and after a big clothesline there is a cover, and a kick out at 2. Punk bounces off the ropes, and lands a kick into the side of Jeff, and another kick out at 2 follows the cover. Edge fights back into the ring, landing a big boot of Punk first, then Hardy! Edge starts to take control, slamming Punk’s head into the turnbuckle, before attempting to superplex him off it! Jeff interrupts, goes for the superplex on Punk, Edge gets underneath him and moves him away. Punk goes for the crossbody, but Jeff throws himself forward, covering Edge and forcing Punk to miss!

We come back to Hardy on the outside, and Punk taking control of Edge in the ring. Hardy returns, only to be put to the turnbuckle and receive a knee to the face. Edge receives one as well, and Punk gets a 2 count. They continue to fight, till we see Jeff hit a Twist of Fate on Edge. He climbs the turnbuckle, going for the Swanton Bomb, but Punk throws him down into the steps. Punk enters the ring, covers Edge and gets the three count!

The Winner, and STILL world heavyweight champion: CM Punk!!!

Match 6: The Colons Vs. The Hart Dynasty
In this match, Priceless were down as guest commentators. Primo and David Hart start, and Primo has the advantage till some interference changes the momentum. Primo tags Carlito in, who bounces off the ropes and does an awesome dropkick. Another springboard move from Carlito and a cover, which leads to a 2 count. The Backstabber connects, and as he goes for the pin, Priceless charge him, forcing them to win by DQ.

The Winners, Via DQ: The Colons!!!

Next up, we see a short segment between Santino and Mr McMahon, to do with the new owner.

Match 7: Battle Royale: Cody Rhodes Vs. Ted Dibiase Vs. MVP Vs. Matt Hardy Vs. Kofi Kingston Vs. William Regal Vs. The Miz Vs. The Big Show Vs. Triple H Vs. John Cena
The bell rings, and chaos ensues. Triple H tries to quickly eliminate Cody, but he hangs on. Orton comes out, to observe, as the 10 men go at it in the ring. Dibiase and Rhodes team on Triple H, trying for the elimination. There are constant attempts at eliminations, but no one goes. Big Show appears to be the most dominant in the ring, laying everyone out. Matt Hardy tries to fight back, but gets eliminated by Show! MVP tries a flying knee to the face of Big Show, but gets thrown over the top rope instead and is eliminated! Miz and Regal attempt to team up to take out Big Show, but Big Show throws Regal away and Chokeslams Miz! Suddenly, everyone teams up on Big Show, and he is eliminated!!! We are down to 6! Next, Rhodes is in trouble as Cena tries to throw him out, but he hangs on again! Priceless team up and start to dish out the pain on John Cena, but Triple H starts to fight against them, landing loads of right hands! Triple H and Cena start to go at it with both men risking elimination! Meanwhile, Kofi is teamed on by Priceless, and he is eliminated! Almost straight afterwards, they eliminate Regal!!! Priceless split up, to take out Triple H and Cena, but Cena comes back strongly, with an awesome string of moves, that ends with Dibiase eliminated! He goes straight after Rhodes, and throws him over the ropes, but Rhodes flips back over the ropes, and is still in the match! But Cena dodges a clothesline from The Game, And Rhodes is sent flying out of the ring! Triple H keeps the momentum going with a Pedigree to Cena, but Priceless re-enter the ring and beat down Triple H! The Miz reappears though, as he was never eliminated! Miz charges at Triple H and Cena, who pull the rope down and eliminate The Miz! Triple H keeps on going, and takes Cena out as well!!!

The Winner and the NEW number one contender: Triple H

Triple H celebrates, but Donald Trump’s music hits and he appears on the titantron! He announces that next week, in a Last Man Standing match!!!

What a show!!!

Good artical. You captured most moments in the match. But a few minor problems that will help out. 1. You don't need to write every little detail. Two don't add so much emotion! I understand it was an exciting show but, you can calm down a little. you would get a 6/10. Ex. Jeff did hit the swaton bomb, and then Punk throws Jeff into the steps.

Very good, well-thought out article. It was the first time I've ever read an article all the way through.

Well, what your recap is incomplete, some details are wrong (jeff pushed cm punk to the steps if I am not wrong, on the jericho mysterio match you didn't include the fact that jericho tried to remove rey's mask after catching him on the west coast pop, rey gets free, and then gets the code breaker, in my opinion you made it sound like chris caught rey mid-air)
besides that I think you add too much emotion to almost every sentence, don't add that much exclamations signs after almost every word.

    6/10

First off i have two corrections

Christian does a Tornado DDT not a spinning DDT, Mickie James does a Snap DDT not a twisting DDT

Yeah, WWE should focus more on rivalires then making matchs such as fatal four ways and tripe threat matchs, it would be nice. Randy winning was very preditable, CM Punk, Jericho and Tommy Dreamer retaining there belts were preditable and Donald Trump owning Raw is stupid and a bad storyline in my opinion. Plus, Jordan Hardy, people are trying to help Pain by giiving there opinins on the article. Yeah, the exclamation marks pissed me off to, when its overused I just... hate it.

I thought it was a great article. But the show was awful. There were 4 titles on the line and 1 changed because it was vacant. That title was also the raw title. They should of just had the wwe championship on the line on raw instead of having all of them. Great article. AWFUL SHOW!

    Very good article.

2 Bad there are always people in here that love to nag about anything that isn't *perfect* in their eyes. Why can't they see how much work it is to write all these stories every time again?

Blazer and Edge Head are omlaining about minor things, so I read over it, but a rediculous comment like Boo! wrote. Rofl try make one of these your self little baby!

Mr. Pain, I think you did a pretty good job with this one!
