Who is better WWE or TNA?
Since WCWs demise in 2001 many say WWE have been unrivalled in the wrestling world. WWEs biggest mistake they actually believed that. In recent years you could argue WWE have taken their feet off the pedal. WWE kept producing the same old storylines and pretty average wrestling. They were still by far the best fed around financially.
This no risk attitude allowed another company to join the race called TNA. TNA did not have many "stars" when they first arrived but knew how to satisfy fans with wrestling. Wrestlers Like AJ Styles, Amazing Red and Triple X were putting on great matches week in week out. Still no one really thought TNA had a future. Hardly any TV time meant it was hard to keep wrestlers happy. TNA managed to this and were soon attracting bigger name wrestlers like X-Pac and Sting.
WWE were still living the high life with Triple H, The Rock and other “superstars” bringing in the money. They were not making too many mistakes but their downfall was living in the past.
WWE felt the need to replace veterans with new fresh wrestlers. The main wrestlers trying to be replicated were Hulk Hogan and arguably The Rock. This mammoth task fell on the shoulders on John Cena. TNAs main man at this time was Jeff Jarret.
Instead of moving forward and attacking TNA. WWE went back in time and tried to recreate their old dominance. For example John Cena against JBL. This feud was very similar to the Rock vs. Dx. Both Wrestlers single handily managed to take out a “cabinet” of wrestlers. This was boring and predictable. TNAs bound for glory saw an amazing victory to Rhino were he won 3 matches on his way to the belt quite the opposite.
As the years went on TNA were being noticed more and attracted big name stars most notably Christian and Kurt Angle. WWE are losing superstars left, right and centre. Booker and Flair the most recent. A huge boost for WWE is that Y2J snubbed TNA and is returning to WWE.
Both companies get avoidable injuries. WWE have a ridiculous road schedule so pick up many high profile injuries. TNA have the Canadian destroyer and many other high risk moves and matches. However, to be fair to both they are trying to help the wrestlers. WWE has the wellness program and TNA does not want any steroid abusers- Andrew “Test” Martin was told he needs to pipe his muscle down until he appears on the show again as it shows the “wrong” image.
TNAs Tag team division is by far in front of WWEs 5 team tag team division. TNA is hiring females that can wrestle and WWE hire females that are eye candy. It’s working for WWE at the moment how will TNAs plan go. The X division has far more depth and talent in my opinion to the cruiserweight and us belt. But Raws wrestling ability is very good. Benjamin, Kennedy and Orton are very entertaining in the ring and Raw has great wrestlers on the microphone. Cena was the king on the mic, which made up for his poor wrestling ability but Triple H does have the whole package. TNA doesn’t really have someone who is good on the microphone. Truth, Sting and Angle may be classed as good on the microphone.
Comparing WWE and TNA is pretty hard as they both specialise in different places despite being wrestling companies. WWE is like a good (at times) soap opera. The storylines can be very intriguing. However, if you want good entertaining wrestling TNA is the way to go. I believe TNAs most prize possession is the X division as it will always get fans riled up for wrestling action.
Most importantly WWE have by far more money than TNA. WWE can spend freely on contracts, special matches and many other things that TNA can't.
Whether TNA cannot compete or not, it doesn’t really make a difference. It is a breath of fresh air and will hopefully make WWE more watchable.
What do you think is the best brand and why?
