Backlash Predictions Good evening ladies and gentleman. Welcome to another edition of “The Spotlight” with your very own General Manager of REVOLUTION, American. Last week, we reviewed my thoughts of what I was to believe to be the Top 5 matches of Wrestlemania 24. This week, we will be talking about my Backlash Predictions which involves the 4 matches already made up to last night’s edition of RAW. 1) Batista vs Shawn Michaels: RAW General Manager William Regal announced on Monday Night RAW that the match between “The Animal” Batista and the “Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels has been official. Now let’s go over what led to this matchup: Wrestlemania 24: In what was considered the “toughest match of his career”, Shawn Michaels defeated his mentor Ric Flair aka “naitch” and earned himself a new nickname, which is “The man that retired Ric Flair”. Before delivering the deciding blow “Sweet Chin Music”, Shawn Michaels uttered the words “Im sorry…I love you”. Monday Night RAW: Shawn Michaels appeared on RAW and explained the emotional roller-coaster that he has been going through since retiring Ric Flair. Later on that evening, Batista literally stared down “The Showstopper” as he made his way down to the ring during Ric Flair’s retirement ceremony and gave “The Nature Boy” a big hug and exchanged a few words. Friday Night Smackdown: Shawn Michaels paid a visit to the land of Smackdown to address the fans on his emotional roller-coaster ( much like what he did on RAW ). He said that after sharing the hug with Ric Flair during the ceremony, he was finally beginning to find some closure. Batista then came out to the ring and called Shawn Michaels “selfish” for his actions at Wrestlemania and went on to say that HBK knew deep down inside that he did the wrong thing at Wrestlemania. Last Night on RAW: Chris Jericho hosted another edition of the “Highlight Reel” with both Shawn Michaels and Batista being the special guests. After the Intercontinental Champion temporarily jumped on the “HBK Badguy Bandwagon” with Batista, he stepped aside to allow the two guests to air out there separate opinions on the Ric Flair situation. Batista fired at HBK by saying that there was no way in hell that he was sorry for the actions that he took and that he knows he can never trust the Showstopper to make the right decision again. Shawn Michaels fired back by asking Batista that if he was really a true friend of Ric Flair, then why didn’t he talk the Nature Boy out of fighting “Mr.Wrestlemania” which he numerous opportunities to do so. HBK also pointed out to Batista that the only reason why Flair chose him instead of Batista was because Flair knew that HBK was the only one that would be able to carry the burden of retiring Ric Flair for the rest of his life. My Pick for who will win at Backlash: ***Shawn Michaels will possibly win and silence any critics that believe that he did the wrong this at Wrestlemania.***
2) World Heavyweight Championship: The Undertaker vs Edge: At Wrestlemania, Edge made a valiant attempt to put an end to The Undertaker’s undefeated Wrestlemania streak that had stood at 15-0. But The Phenom took in everything Edge had to offer in route to his 2nd consecutive Wrestlemania World Championship victory and running his undefeated record to 16-0. Edge then tried to gain himself a slim advantage over the Deadman last Friday on Smackdown when him and Chavo interfered during the "Champion vs Champion-Brother vs Brother" match...but ended up finding himself on the wrong side of a chokeslam. My Pick for who will win at Backlash: ***The Undertaker’s reign of terror will continue…if the “Edge-heads” don’t get involved.***
3) WWE Championship: Randy Orton vs JBL vs HHH vs John Cena: Randy Orton shocked the world at Wrestlemania when he defeated HHH and John Cena to retain his WWE Championship. William Regal came on Raw Monday night and announced that at Backlash, it will officially be Randy Orton vs JBL for the WWE Championship. Afterwards, Triple H made his claim to the WWE Championship saying that although he was busy with Ric Flair’s retirement, he thought it was a joke that a man that goes slapping around leprechaun could possibly be a #1 contender. Then later on, after HHH was added into the mix, at this moment making it a Triple Threat Match, John Cena came out and made his claim at how the four of them ( referring to HHH, JBL and Randy and himself ) were the biggest guys in the WWE industry and how he thinks a Fatal Four Away Match would be a great way to exemplify that as a Backlash main event ( especially considering the fact that he defeated all three of them on separate occasions ). After making his claim to the title, he was awarded his opportunity to be in the match after defeating JBL and HHH in a 2 on 1 handicap match, with some “inadvertent help” from the WWE Champion, Randy Orton ( who laid out JBL with an RKO ). My Pick for who will win at Backlash: ***John Cena will win and once again earn the right to say his old phrase “The Champ is Here!”***
4) ECW Championship: Kane vs Chavo Guerrero: To start off, I am glad that both Kane and Undertaker are heavyweight champions. However, I am not glad at how Kane won the ECW Championship from Chavo Guerrero. But after the events that took place last week on ECW when Kane picked up a tag team victory with CM Punk…only to get ambushed by Chavo Guerrero a week later during a “contract signing”, I am led to believe that there will be no other choice then to have Kane defeat Chavo Guerrero at Backlash. Afterall, the only way I can honestly see Kane winning is if Chavo has his back-up men come help him again. My Pick for who will win at Backlash: ***Kane will emerge victorious if no one comes in to interfere***
5) Big Show vs The Great Khali: I’m not sure if this match has been made official to the Backlash card yet, but when it does it will be one hell of a match. I mean you have two giants that will square off, trying to take each other down in one small square-sized ring. On The Great Khali’s side, you have monster who can lay out any competitor with one vicious chop to the head. On The Big Show’s side, you have a monster who is capable of laying out any competitor with one huge punch or even his devastating chokeslam. I think the deciding factor of this match will come down to who has more stamina and who dishes out more offensive power. And if The Great Khali does not turn into a coward and walk out the ring again, I think everyone knows who would win the match. My Pick for who will win at Backlash: ***The Big Show for the mere fact that he does not hold back nor does he hit lightly.*** Views: 2,693

I agree with most of it. I don't agree with the Cena win. I think Randy might hold on a little longer. I also belive that Batista might walk out the winner.

Everything is right but the WWE Championship match...either Thriple H or Randy Orton wins. I hate Ortan but he might retain, but if he dose Thriple H and Orton at Judgement Day with HHH walking out champ.

Mark my words, John Cena will not be winning the championship for a while.. Why you say? Well for one thing the wwe won't put a title on someone who has a lead role in a movie they are about to be shooting. It would be near impossible to be the lead role in a movie and the lead role on raw.

I believe Khali and Big Show has not been booked for Backlash yet and may not happen. Reports in India say he is in India for a month starting for the 26th (The day before the PPV) so if that is correct look for Big Show to injure TGK on SD the wek before to build the feud

I see Orton defending one more time. They'll use the Batista/Michaels feud to move Batista over to RAW. Then there will be either a Batista/Orton feud or a Batista/Orton/Triple H feud that I think will end with Batista as the Champ.

I seriously hope some things:
1) To see HBK make Batista swallow some teeth with Sweet Chin Music making one of the guys with the narrowest range of moves in the WWE to shut is idiotic mouth for now. For God's sakes let HBK win...
2) Big Show and Khali for me doesn't matter...It would be more entertaining Festus vs. Big Show and Khali so that Festus could win....XD
3) Orton must keep. But if some of the challengers has to win let it not be Cena....It could be Bradshaw but NOOOOOT Cena please...
As for Kane it's not important...He is a great wrestler (not as great as he once was not even a tenth of what he once was but still great) and I think the only superstars in ECW that deserve that title besides Kane are Burke Benjamin and Nitro (not counting Punk because he is coming to RAW in my opinion and not counting Miz because even thinking that he develloped a LOOOOT in this last year I think he still needs to tag a little more with Nitro/Morrisson to become a classy superstar...)

edge only got the title because undertaker was injured and there was no one else to put the belt on at the time, the original plan was for undertaker to hold the belt for over a year

Big Show vs. Khali likely won't happen at Backlash, as Khali has to go back to India to do his mandatory one-month duty as a police officer and reportedly will be in India on the 26th; Backlash is on the 27th.
I don't think they'd put the belt on Taker just to keep his Wrestlemania streak intact; if you remember, the only reason Edge got the belt in the first place is because Undertaker got injured.
No idea who will win the WWE championship match, but I doubt it will be JBL - I don't see them putting the title on heels back to back - and I hope it isn't Cena. I'd rather them wait a couple more months before Cena gets it....

Im going to treat everyone here like an adult who knows that wrestling is fake and understands storylines and their purposes.
Batista vs Shawn Michaels: HBK will win because if he dosen't it means that Batista got revenge for something that he shouldn't be wanting revenge for.
The Undertaker vs Edge: Undertaker because although he is a part time wrestler nowadays he won't lose the title quite so quick.
Randy Orton vs JBL vs HHH vs John Cena: Orton or JBL because they need a heel to be champ at the moment. Orton is doing well as champ and has established himself and i think its good for him to remain champ just now but JBL may have a contract agreement to win it.
Kane vs Chavo Guerrero: Kane Little to early to have him lose it and if the new big guy gets over well enough i can see this feud lasting a little longer with maybe even the big guy feuding with Kane for a while and Chavo playing back-up.
Big Show vs The Great Khali: Who cares? But ill say Big Show because he is still recently back and needs to get over in a feud after losing to Mayweather, Khali is already pretty over with the fans so it won't hurt him to lose either.

Orton is gunna walk out STILL WWE champion. They are just starting the "Era of Orton" and their not just gunna scrap it. Cena aint gettin it for a while. I think HHH will eventually get it but no time soon. JBL is a mistery to me but I know Randy will keep the strap for a while.

Hopefully, they follow the Batista-Michaels angle to conclusion and Dave goes full on heel, he's been needing that for a while.

Are you like a Cena Fanatic? There's no way Cena will win at Backlash. And i'm saying this because its my prediction (not my hopes). i never predict matches where i pick the person i WANT to win. I think Orton will win as his push isn't over. I can't remember the last time someone had a big Mania win then lost their title at the next ppv. (unless it was cos they had an injury)

I think JBL will win the Fatal 4 Way. If you think about it logically JBL is so unpopular and is a bad wrestler who hasnt been mentioned for ages. The obvious choice for title contender would be HBK/Jericho/Jeff Hardy. So i think he might be retiring soon and will have one last title win to say good bye to WWE or just Wrestling. I think Edge will win just because he is better. I think HBK will win because he is better than Batista. Kane v Chavo, Who cares. Chavo is a nobody and Kane has lost a huge fanbase when he unmasked. Big Show v Khali, this is an intresting match seeing as they are the 2 biggest in the WWE (i think)

Undertaker will win because he was promised the long title reign he didn't get last year. HHH will win because he was supposed to at Wrestlemania and the plan was changed so all 3 heavyweight titles wouldn't change hands on the same night. Kane will win because he is being pushed as the new face of ECW. Big Show will win because he is being pushed hard from heel to face. Batista will win starting a long rivalry because he is being pushed from face to heel. And Matt Hardy will win because it was planned for him to win 3 months ago. Jericho will beat CM punk at some point for the M.I.T.B briefcase because the plan is for him....not Punk to cash it in within the next 6 months.

i don't agree with some predictions you did... specialy that for the wwe championship match... cena wins? dude... cena again has champion?... no thanks... i think Triple H wins the match and becomes 12 time world champion or Orton retains the title and then loses the title at Judgment Day to Triple H... but hope HHH wins now at Backlash.
The other match i don't agree too its the UNdertaker vs Edge... but i think you right.. let me explain more clearly, i think you right with the result of the match... Undertaker wins and retains the title... but for me i hope Edge wins the title again.. i like EDGE has The World HeavyWeight Champion... then comes the draft... Edge comes back to RAW with the Title... and Smackdown goes off the air... because RAW is rulling all the WWE (LOL im joking now :P)

I fail to see anyone mention anyone returning, Usually at a PPV someone who is apparently "injured" makes a quick return to change the course of a match, and i wouldnt be suprised if Rey Mysterio comes bak to help taker beat edges cronies.
Also this is a long shot, but... depending on the result of Taker vs Batista, if Batista wins or Draws the match, he will then have to face both Shawn Micheals and Edge/Undertaker at Backlash, whos to say they dont add Micheals into the equation and let him walk out WHC, would make a great match if Y2J and Shawn Michaels switched to Smackdown and fought.
A Jeff Hardy return is out of the question, he will serve his 6 months.

Jeff Hardy was actually given a 60 Day Suspension and will return on June 20th at a RAW House Show, fighting Lance Cade.
About the article now.. I'm just gonna go over my opinions of the Championship matches.
Edge vs. Taker. I know it won't happen, but an Edge win is the right movement. Taker... simply... sucks. Sure, he was good, but that was in like 1993, I didn't think they could possibly screw up his gimmick even more, but they did, changing him to Big Evil and returning as The Deadman, 4 years later. You're out of gimmicks, you're old as hell and you can't wrestle for crap! Retire. As for Edge, another one of Canada's fantastic wrestlers, I hope he wins the title, somewhere during the year (Summerslam is my #1 guess) and scraps this Vicky Guerrero crap.
As for the other match, I HATE Triple H and I don't think anyone out there doesn't HATE Bradshaw. I'll be happy as long as neither of these guys wins it. Hell, I'd prefer Cena to win it, but the best possible outcome would be for the Age of Orton to continue, 'til about Armageddon.
All in all, what I'm hoping for, but probably won't get, is a Rated-RKO Reunion. Apart from Kennedy, these guys are my two favourite wrestlers and the reuniting of their Tag Team would be quite a spectacle for me.
Oh, and some thoughts on Kane.
Yes, he deserved a push, if I were him, I would've left WWE right after the end of the Lita/Edge gimmick if I knew I wouldn't be on TV as much for 4 years (not to mention being on Extremely Crappy Wrestling) but I don't think this push is the right step.
