Chaos Awards Vol. 41

Greetings One and Everyone!

Welcome ladies and gentleman another fantastic failure that is the Chaos Awards!

Summerslam came and went but the taste is still in the air. Smells like sweating, screaming 12 year olds.

Anyway, onto business!

Best Match – Team Raw vs. Team Nexus (Summerslam)
Daniel Bryan is back. You can all begin marking out.
I love the fact that
Bryan is back. All of the speculation can continue going on but I don’t care. I’m glad that he is back. I’ll be honest, it made Summerslam that much sweeter.
I enjoyed Summerslam, apart from the ending of the IC Title which you’ll read about below, but I really liked the outcome of every Summerslam match, Including the DQ of the WWE Championship. I knew that it would happen, but it was better than I thought.
The overall outcome of Summerslam was fantastic. I think that even if Nexus won, I’d still feel this way because Summerslam overall was a brilliant PPV.

Worst Match – Dolph Ziggler vs. Kofi Kingston (Summerslam)
The IC Title match was pretty bad. Especially since this is Dolph’s first big break, actually holding a championship walking into a major PPV and THEN Nexus comes in and levels them.
The 6 Pack challenge was changed in favour of the one on one match with Kofi, which lasted a whole 5 mins for Nexus to beat the crap out of both competitors. Now, if I was a betting man, I would’ve had a MUCH better time for the opening of Summerslam if there was a result in the opening match first… THEN Nexus comes out and levels everyone.
Since I am a betting man, that SHOULD have happened and it SHOULD have been a 6 Pack Challenge.
Although, that would have left the main events with a little less time but seriously… the Intercontinental Championship NEEDS more credibility. It needs more PPV time.

Best Performer – Kane
I do like it how Kane can go from being the tweener that everyone likes to the heel that everyone hates in over solid minute. All he had to do was attack his brother.
Not bad for someone who has the World Title.
I’m glad that this has finally happened. Kane attacking his brother and overpowering him has made Kane look like the ultimate monster heel… which is what he always has been. People might say “oh it’s the same thing. I’m sick of it.”
I’m not. Kane vs. Undertaker will always be one of the great rivalries. Now, it might end at Wrestlemania where one of them can go out in the blaze of glory that they deserve.

Worst Performer – Hulk Hogan
I understand that most of my focus has been on Summerslam. Admittedly I started writing this after Raw and realised that I didn’t have much from TNA. Unfortunately they get worst performer.
Is it just me or is Hogan there JUST to put his “seal of approval” on EVERYTHING that happens in TNA? Every single time I’ve seen him in the past 3 months he’s been there for him to put over TNA and at the same time put himself over. We don’t need Hulk to come down and tell everyone what we already know! It’s becoming a joke to watch him say “You’re the best! You’re great!” to everyone in TNA.

Best Moment – Melina’s return
The Divas division has gone belly up since the injuries of Melina and Beth Phoenix and the releases of Katie Lea and Mickie James.
Melina returning actually gives some credibility back to the Women’s division. Now she has the Divas Championship back. The title which she didn’t lose when she got injured unlike Beth who got injured THEN had to lose the title.
It is actually good to see Melina back and with the title. I am just wondering if she is going to launch into a rivalry with Maryse and build them up or work with Eve or Alicia. Either way I know that she is going to have an awesome rivalry and continue to build on her fantastic career.

Worst Moment – Tiffany getting suspended

Tiffany has been arrested for a domestic dispute with her husband, Drew McIntyre, and sent home. So the match with her, Kelly Kelly and LayCool is now off of Summerslam.
Personally I don’t give a stuff about the match. I don’t wanna see it because Layla has defended that championship ONCE since she won it. I do however give a stuff about the handling of the situation that the WWE has given to Drew McIntyre AND Tiffany.
Look I’m not a major fan of either, but they are a married couple. I’d be asking WWE for marriage counselling for Tiffany and Drew. I’m happy for them, but I don’t think sending Tiffany home is a good thing. Yes, she got arrested. So did
Jericho. But Jericho never got sent home.
If this is a domestic issue, then WWE doesn’t need to get involved and send her home. As much as we don’t want to see her in action at Summerslam, you can not push a girl away from her dreams about being at a major PPV. But hey… if there is one thing the WWE is good at doing, it’s destroying people’s dreams.

Chaotic Top 20
Orton still leads the Performer of the year standings and Womens voting receives an all time low. There were no credible votes for this week from the Womens side. So this week we have a top 20.
Surprisingly enough… Daniel Bryan is 1st. I wonder if he can catch Randy Orton before the year is out?
Also The Miz breaks into the top ten for the first time since February.

Vanilla Coke. Why would you settle for anything less than Ziggler? I mean perfection?

The Bottle Won't Open Rant
I was presented with a question from last weeks article…

All of the TNA Originals seem underrated while they are making Anderson, Hardy and RVD seem like wrestling gods by beating people in under 10 minutes. What are your thoughts on this?

Thank you for your question and I do have a few thoughts on the subject because I have been a supporter of TNA… until January 4th came along.

I say January 4th because that was when Hogan, Bischoff and all of the other WWE top stars made their mark on TNA.

The TNA Originals are the backbone of TNA. They have made the company what it is and fought to put it at the level that it is today. Along with Kurt Angle who joined TNA in September of 2006. But it’s the guys like Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Daniels, Jay Lethal, Kazarian and others who have made TNA a rival wrestling company to WWE. If TNA loses these X Division stars and the TNA Originals… TNA will go bye bye in less than a year.
And another thing that was brought to my attention last week, I must Congratulate AJ Styles for being named as the #1 rank of the PWI 500. He THROUGHLY deserves it.

TNA has made some great choices over the years. Giving Abyss a run with the NWA Title, AJ Styles being TNA World Champion, MCMG Tag Team Champions… finally and if I have to go as far back as to say that they invented new matches that have intrigued me.
King of the Mountain, Ultimate X, Lethal Lockdown… and so on.

That being said… TNA did choose Bubba The Love Sponge, The Nasty Boys and The Band over Consequences Creed and Daniels… what does that say?

There are things to be said about the Creative Team of TNA. Personally, they are all bad and I would have to fire myself from writing if I said them. Ever since they fired Jim Cornette their Creative decisions have gone down the toilet.

I completely agree that they are making the former WWE stars into super beings while the TNA originals are being thrown away like lambs to the slaughter.

Samoa Joe getting suspended for backstage altercations and having a photo of him with Melina, Morrison and Helms? Get real. Booker T was disliked in TNA for ages and got into fights as well… yet HE never got suspended. All of the wrestlers that have worked for WWE or WCW have received a push, which I quite admire since WWE doesn’t really push former TNA stars unless they already worked in WWE previously (Hardy, Christian, etc). The only one that I know of who was given a real push while coming from TNA was Mickie James.

The thing is, when is being pushed too much going too far? I think the best example of this is Rob Van Dam when he won the World Championship. He was with the company for a grand total of 42 days… and won the World Title off AJ Styles. Let me run this down for you…
March 8 – Debut. Defeated Sting
March 15 – Attacked Sting during his entrance, poses with Hogan.
March 22 – RVD & Jeff Hardy def. Beer Money
March 29 – RVD, Jeff Hardy & Eric Young def. The Band (Steel Cage)
April 5 – RVD def. James Storm (Also named in Lethal Lockdown match with Team Hogan)
April 12 – Attempts to make a save on Jeff Hardy but gets beaten down by Beer Money.
April 18 Lockdown – RVD def. James Storm & Team Hogan (RVD, Jeff Hardy, Abyss & Jeff Jarrett) def. Team Flair (AJ Styles, Beer Money & Desmond Wolfe)
April 19 – RVD def. Jeff Hardy to become #1 contender. RVD def. AJ Styles to become World Champion.

7 weeks. 8 Shows. Rob Van Dam becomes champion and takes the title off one of the hardest working people in this industry who was named Number 1 in the PWI 500.

I agree with everything. If TNA wants to succeed, let the old WWE stars be jobbers for a few months. Then see how they like it.

Let me be the first to say this: Thank you for the rant. Have you seen the recent TNA iMPACT episode? The original Hard Justice PPV that was aired on free TV? I heard that was a really good show. I didn't get a chance to watch summerslam, but after hearing your rave reviews of it, I think I'll give it a try. I hope that next week you can feature the TNA iMPACT episode I mentioned in your article. And 42 days? Really?! At least they gave AJ the Global Title and had it renamed. One good decision there. I hope Joe comes back though... Actually, no I don't. TNA will misuse him and job him out to the likes of Hardy and RVD. The whole iMPACT zone thought that Joe was literally going to kill RVD the night the two faced off. Nope. I hope Joe goes over to ROH and that he and Daniels stay there and compete alongside Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin.

    Daniel Bryan/Bryan Danielson FTW!!!!

Question: Why does TNA not push the tag team and X divisions as much as they did a couple years ago??
