Greetings to the masses again!
Thank you for taking your time to read another installment of the Chaos Theories with your author, The Nemesis.
Keep all your questions coming! I value your input into the Chaos Theories.
I do have a few short answers for questions before I get stuck into my article.
Stone Cold made the right decision in retiring. We don’t see him very often in WWE anymore and I think that his legacy that he left behind will forever be remembered in our hearts. If Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker retire next year, everyone from the “Pre-Attitude Era”, with the exception of Triple H and Kane, would have left the company.
Does everyone think that the matches on ECW are getting more and more stale as much as I do? I realize Tommy Dreamer is the Champion and I have the greatest respect for him and he deserves to be the champion, but really… Tyson Kidd vs. Finlay as a Main Event?
Now onto business…
I can understand the writers of the WWE having trouble coming up with storylines. For example: Legacy and their “dominance” of RAW. Have they only JUST realized that they can give Priceless (Rhodes & DiBiase) a Unified Tag Team Title match?
They should have done this ages ago to make more people jump on the “Anti-Legacy” wagon.
Can the writers PLEASE just write a One-on-One Main Event for a change?
I am so sick to death of seeing Fatal Four Ways, Triple Threats, multiple man tag matches and 60 man battle royals for the main event.
Where is the on-going rivalry? What are the writers thinking to do this week after week after week?
Okay, have the writers seriously run out of ideas? Honestly… I can come up with a storyline out of the top of my head that has been done and DOESN’T seem like it’s a broken record.
Just for a small example, Jericho drops the title back to Rey and Edge just can’t take anymore of Jericho’s rambling on about how he’s the best. Edge just wants Jericho to shut up in turn making Edge a face when they square off. This ends up with Edge vs. Jericho at Unforgiven which Jericho wins.
Jericho then continues to run his mouth with Edge just ignoring him and challenges him to another match. A Falls Count Anywhere Match at No Mercy.
When Jericho wins that one, he decides to challenge Edge to another match at Cyber Sunday with the fans picking the match. A) Cage. B) Hardcore. C) TLC
Fans jump on TLC which Edge wins.
Jericho runs his mouth about that Edge got his match and Edge got lucky. Edge then has an idea for a match at Survivor Series. Jericho vs. Edge – 30 Minute Ironman Match.
Edge wins 4 to 3.
It isn’t THAT hard guys! Randomize things a little!
I’m thankful that they did one thing right. They turned CM Punk heel. It was a long time coming in my opinion. While watching Friday night Smackdown, CM Punk got such a bad reception that I can’t remember the last time I heard him get booed that much.
Jeff Hardy is getting such a massive pop and Edge was being… well Edge and I don’t think they would have wanted to do one more Edge vs. Hardy match again.
I’m glad that CM Punk won the title and that Jeff Hardy is getting another shot at it after winning it for a grand total of 3 minutes. Give the title to Jeff and let him hold it for a few months. He deserves it.
Finally, the writers have given John Morrison a push. He has really gained an exceptional amount of experience and improved a lot in his transition from Johnny Nitro to John Morrison in the last 2 years.
The match that he had with Edge on the Friday Night Smackdown 2 weeks ago was one of the best matches that I have ever seen on Smackdown in the last year. Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth… beautiful match!
I would’ve loved to see that match at a Pay Per View. That is the type of match I would like to see as a championship main event match and what I was talking about in my previous article. We need those type of matches to really stay on the edge of our seats and watch every second to find out who is going to win.
I commend the writers for making this match, I really hope that this turns into a rivalry. Edge needs to take a back seat for a while and Morrison needs that push that he deserves.
Is it just me or is everyone starting to get sick of Triple H vs. Randy Orton? Can the writers just please change it up a little? The Fatal Four Way match on RAW was great… but where do you go from that? I would really like to see everyone just so annoyed and Legacy that they do sort of what they did with Evolution in 2004. Evolution took over RAW for a week because Eric Bischoff left the building.
Evolution said there was “Strength in numbers”. But they didn’t count on everyone else on RAW teaming up to get rid of them.
This is what needs to happen with Legacy. Even if they have to put Orton as GM for a week or a month, make the entire RAW roster loath Legacy and gang upon them.
At the moment, I don’t really care what happens to Orton, I do like his style of wrestling and his heel attitude. But Orton needs to break away from Legacy or Priceless needs to break away from Orton. It has worked… but now it’s just getting sad.
The “former” Land of Extreme has got one star on their roster that can exceed all expectations and is good with the fans AND is good on the mic. Do they give him the push? No.
He gets injured. They give it to a guy that looks and walks like Shrek and talks like he’s eating a mouthful of grapes and when he smiles… well I could put real estate on one tooth.
Jack Swagger winning the E-STHEA-W title was a good move at the time… it became very boring and overrated very quickly. I’m glad that Swagger was left out of Wrestlemania. He needs more work in my opinion. He tends to get a little sloppy and rushed with his moves if he’s in an important match.
The writers need to work a LOT more with both Bourne and Swagger. Swagger needs to take a back seat and Bourne needs to get off ECW.
Jeff Hardy vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Evan Bourne. Tell me that you wouldn’t want to see this match. Thought so.
As for Swagger, put him up a few notches and let him face Koslov or, even as much as I really don’t like saying this, turn him face and put him in matches against the New Hart Dynasty, it would be good for all involved.
Speaking of Koslov… what is his role in ECW? To kick all the newbie guys and say “I dominate all. *Russian jibberish* ECW Championship *Russian jibberish* Dominate *Scream to make me look like a tank*”
I have a word for you Koslov, “BORING!” Maybe you’ve heard of it?
He is becoming so stale that I know I can get up and make myself a glass of vanilla coke and get a bag of chips, come back and the match is over and he’s finished talking.
The writers need to take a serious look at the talent pool that they have and start making critical decisions. I don’t care if they have to start doing cross branded matches again.
If it draws my attention then I’ll get into it.
Seriously, if I was sitting there watching RAW, The Miz vs. Kofi for the US Title and then all of a sudden, Cm Punk and Chris Jericho come down and beat the heck out of both guys. People won’t know what’s going on. I know it has been done in 2005… but that was a time when everyone was on the edge of their seats thinking ‘What’s going to happen next?’ where is that excitement on RAW and Smackdown?
I said it in my last Article, where is King of the Ring? It guaranteed that someone new talent would rise through the ranks and be noticed by a lot of people that would not really consider that person to be a contender material until he won that tournament.
BRING IT BACK!!
If there is a King of the Ring tournament this year, I really want the final to be John Morrison vs. Evan Bourne. The match would be top notch as well as both guys deserve a huge push right now. Whoever wins gets the credit that they deserve.
Here is what the WWE has to do.
1. Make legitimate #1 Contender Tournaments and matches.
Could we please have a #1 contender match with MORE than two people that isn’t over the top rope?
Fatal Four Way Elimination match is an example.
Does anyone remember when Triple H was given the World Heavyweight Title in 2002? The Fatal Four Way Elimination Match between RVD, Jeff Hardy, Big Show and Chris Jericho was a classic match. We need more #1 Contender matches like that.
2. Bring some grudge matches back.
When is the last time we had a big rivalry that didn’t have any gold on the line?
Grudges that start from one thing, then snowball to become a heated rivalry and continue for an epic encounter inside Hell in a Cell months later. Where have those rivalries gone? Mankind vs. Undertaker, Undertaker vs. Randy Orton, DX vs. The McMahons, we need more rivalries like these.
3. More Violence. Sometimes we just want to see people bleed. I don’t want to see it every match, especially not the Diva’s matches, but I would like to see it once on the card or even as an attack after the match, maybe even once every two weeks. Split him open a little. A trickle is fine. Anything crimson is fine. Just make him angry and want to get revenge on you. Oh look, snap, rivalry.
4. The Comedic Heel. Who is it and what is he doing out of the WWE? Bring Kurt Angle back. When he was a heel he still had the effort to be funny as a heel. Not many people can do that and still be a heel without turning face in the process. Where is that comedy side of a rivalry? That side where we can laugh and make fun of that person even if he is a heel. Edge and Cena were those people but now they moved onto different things. Bring back a comedic heel!
and finally…
5. Call me. I have a ton of storylines that can make your hair stand on end.
Until then, I’ll be sitting in my pool of Vanilla Coke dreaming of actually seeing something exciting on TV.

Well, just a thing Nemesis, the blood thing is already banned from WWE, there will be no more blood, unless it is an unique accident, of course.
Besides that, I do agree that the creative team is not as "creative" as some couple years ago, but there are a lot of things that have to be concidered before making a feud, like the kind of contract a superstar has, or his/her physical condicion, or maybe saving the best feuds for the Summerslam, etc. But I certainly would like to see Evan back for something serious.
10/10

why is everyone perdicting Khali winning. Where the hell would they go with that tall bumbling idiot. At least swagger has some ability and might be a B level heel for a while, just my two cents.

Why does everyone seem to think Dreamer is going to Retain? There's no way he will retain in the Scramble match

Very nice! Good article!
Couple things: The last big rivalry with no championship on the line, was Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels.
Okay, that's just one thing.
Anyways, I like your ideas. I would like to see the Cruiserweight title back for people like Evan Bourne and John Morrison to compete in.

Great column, good read.
Totally agree with you about CM Punk as a heel. Anyone who doubts this move needs to go to youtube and search "CM Punk invisible microphone" (warning: offensive language.) Obviously he won't have QUITE the freedom he does in that clip, but it just shows that Punk as heel = win.

Pretty sure it was Bourne, because he said about the injury, but I could be wrong.
Oh, vanilla coke = awesome. Nice.
Tip: Get a can of cold vanilla coke, and put it in the freezer for 25-35 minutes. The vanilla coke slushie is the greatest drink ever.

Actually, the comedy heels were great. The Edge and Christian days are something that I really miss (PLEASE throw those two into a tag team match just once so they can bring back the five second pose).
I really enjoyed this piece that you wrote, it was just a step below ranting, which was great. Yes, the blood thing is gone, but if they could just get a storyline worth more then a "piece of monkey crap" then I might actually watch the show again instead of reading what the website says happened. When Matt Hardy comes back, bring him back to something like the V1 era. Give Edge a different story arc like back when he was the comedy heel. Split up Legacy and for the love of all that is good and holy get some talent on RAW that isn't stale as can be (I don't care how much I like Cena, after awhile it feels like he needs to go make another movie and take a break from the ring.)
Also, one of the biggest problems that RAW and ECW are currently having is that they have a faction in them, and only single wrestlers to oppose them. What ever happened to the faction v. faction stuff? Remember the Nation of Domination days when there were three factions going back and forth? HHH v. three guys, flavor of the week v. two guys and a bad ass female. Anybody else think that this is getting a little old? Form another group, and take them on, give them something to fear so they don't do everything they want too (so old.)
Sorry for ranting here, but one other thing. Does anybody else find it very odd that Orton had a mental problem, and Priceless never had a word said to them when they helped assault everybody? Something like, Randy: "You can't fire me!" Steph: "No, but I can fire you two. You helped assault my father and my brother, and you have no medical condition, or any other thing stopping me from doing this. YOU'RE FIRED!!!"
Man, I really wanted to see that happen. oh well.
Whoops, ranted enough

great man! and about that cross brand match, i was playing 08, and i went into this storyline that had the champs from all three brands face off in a triple threat. they need to do that. and i've always wanted to see jeff vs rey in a no-DQ match. could you imagine how high-flying that would be? and add evan bourne to the mix and blam, i see an I-C title match!

to comment # 6; to be fair the writers didn't really do anything, jericho and HBK were doing it themselves for the most part.

I agree on the part that the "Creative writers" have, essentially, been MIA for.. what has it been, years?
The whole one-two week STUPIDER THEN HELL story of Trump buying RAW then selling it back to Vince was the first thign to surprize me, with reguards to WWE programming, in years. I can't remember the last time I was surprized with WWE, even in a bad way like I was with this "story."
The threeway/fourway matches are WAY past old. It seems like every PPV we have at least one for a title. I am pretty sure that Wrestlemania has had one-two threeway/fourway title matches every year for the past four to five years! I know that the WWE has a lot of top end talent that they see as worthy of being in the title picture, but, MAKE ONE WORTHY!
For the rest, I cannot agree more that they need more rivalaries/grudge matches. As you said, if the title is not involved there is essentially no top-end rivalaries. Mid-card sometimes; last one I can really remember was the Kane-Mysterio series, that one somewhat impreseed me, but it got stale quickly and they continued it reguadless.
The whole predictability of WWE is one reason that I have started to really get into TNA. Dureing WWE programming, be it on TV or PPV, I can usually predict the outcome of matches with a 98% secess rate, usually the same with what will be said in promos (of coruse, not the exact words, just the jyst of it). The same cannot be said for TNA, even if they are rehashing some old stories that were used in WWE/WCW before.
The stories and matches are not the only reason I am starting to prefer TNA over WWE. Just look at the quality of matches wrestled between the two. Most TNA IMPACT matches are more entertaining then some of the matches I've seen at the past few WWE PPV's! Considering that WWE is a lot bigger, has the ability to pay for better talent, and is a lot more known, that is just a sad fact.
I've heard people say (I beleive Edge said it in an interview once) that wrestling goes through seven year cycles, where it is hot for seven then seems to loose its limelight for seven following. If that is true, or just a coinsidence, does that mean that the "creative" team for WWE can go on a seven year break from creating INTERESTING and COMPELLING shows!? For whatever reason, it seems that way...
