Good Morning, Evening and Afternoon and welcome to another edition of Hazed & Confused, where this week I shall be looking at various things around the world of wrestling and offering my opinion on something you may all be interested in. Chikara held their anniversary shows, Aniversario Zehn and Aniversario Elf, last weekend which I completely forgot was happening so hadn't previewed the events before they took place. Aniversario Zehn, May 22nd: 1. Amasis d. Green Ant Well that's about it for this week, thank you for reading and please if you have anything to say about this article, leave a comment below.
CHIKARA NEWS:
Anyway, the results of both nights are as follows:
Amasis won with a roaring elbow strike.
2. Tursas & Daizee Haze d. The Throwbacks
Tursas flattened Dasher Hatfield with a Second-Rope Big Splash for the victory.
3. STIGMA d. Ophidian
The Rey de Voladores winner Ophidian was beaten by veteran STIGMA with That Japanese Move, a finisher he hasn’t used successfully since his days as Shane Storm.
4. Equinox & Helios d. Tim Donst & Lince Dorado
The Future Is Now duo gets their first point towards a shot at the Campeonatos de Parejas after Helios pinned Dorado with a Shooting Star Press.
5. Pinkie Sanchez d. Fire Ant
Pinkie beat Fire Ant with the Inverted CHIKARA Special in a pretty big upset.
6. Ares d. Ultra Mantis Black
In the weeks running up to the event, Ares mentioned in a blog post that he would be bringing a “new pet” with him to the show. This was revealed to be former member of The Neo Solar Temple Delirious, who was led by chains to the ring wearing an obscure-looking mask that was comparable to a white veil.
Ares asked announcer Jakob Hammermeier for a dog whistle. He used the whistle and Delirious literally KILLED Crossbones.
During the match, Ultra Mantis proclaimed he would save Delirious.
The finish saw Mantis looking over to Delirious who was on the apron, and the distraction gave Ares an opening where he rolled up Mantis and used the tights for the win.
Ultra Mantis Black was very distraught afterwards, seeming as if he was going to remove his mask, talking about how the BDK took everything from him. He kept it on…for now…
7. Eight-Man Main Event: Mike Quackenbush, Jigsaw, Hallowicked & Frightmare d. Vin Gerard, Colin Delaney, Chuck Taylor & Gran Akuma
Frightmare pins Vin Gerard with the Kneecolepsy.
Aniversario Elf, May 23rd
1. Elimination Tag: Equinox & Helios d. Super Smash Brothers, 3.0 and Chuck Taylor & Gran Akuma
The SSB are eliminated first when Equinox takes Player Dos’s head off with a nasty right hand.
Gran Akuma pins Jagged with a Frog Splash to give the F.I.S.T. duo three points, but Helios pins Taylor in the end with a Standing SSP, so F.I.S.T. loses their three and the win gives Jimmy and Helios three points and a future title shot!
2. Lince Dorado d. Fire Ant
Dorado pinned Fire Ant with a Shooting Star Press in yet another upset.
3. Vin Gerard d. Amasis
With a little help from Colin Delaney, Gerard beats Amasis.
4. Eight-Man Tag: Mike Quackenbush, Jigsaw & The Throwbacks d. Tursas, Pinkie Sanchez, Sara Del Rey & Daizee Haze
Jigsaw won the match for his team with the “Jig N’ Tonic” on Pinkie
5. Young Lions Cup: Tim Donst© d. Soldier Ant
Donst retains once again, this time with the Inverted CHIKARA Special.
6. Campeonatos de Parejas: Claudio Castagnoli & Ares© d. Hallowicked & Frightmare
In the opening moments, the BDK get the first fall when Castagnoli pins Frightmare following a vicious attack from the BDK’s newest member, Delirious.
A modified sidewinder by Incoherence almost gets them a fall.
A rafters-assisted hurricanrana (yes, really) by Frightmare on Claudio almost gets one, too. Unfortunately, the Bruderschaft retain when Ares hits the Toblerone Driver on Frightmare, making their first defence in two straight falls.
7. Main Event: Eddie Kingston d. Tommy Dreamer via DQ
The BDK decides to screw with Kingston by interfering in his dream match.
Ref Bryce is pulled out of the ring by BDK Ref Sabato, but Dreamer will have none of it. He grabs Sabato and the evil official disqualifies him straight away.
Ares and Claudio attack but are run off by Kingston and Dreamer.
Jakob Hammermeier takes the Backfist to the Future from Kingston and a sick Death Valley Driver from Dreamer!
Dreamer makes a challenge for the next Philly show: Dreamer & Kingston vs. Claudio & Ares!
Which obviously goes into my next piece of news, CHIKARA's next shows taking place on June 25th, 26th and 27th.
The only match announced so far for the June 25th show in Philly, which is titled “Chikarasaurus Rex: King of Show” and features six wrestlers from Dragon Gate, is the above mentioned match which will see Tommy Dreamer teaming up with Eddie Kingston to take on Claudio & Ares of the BDK.
The next night, CHIKARA will be appearing in Detroit and has quite a line-up already.
The BDK (Ares, Claudio and Tursas) will take on Da Soul Touchaz (Acid Jaz, Marshe Rockett and Willie Richardson) who have not appeared in CHIKARA for quite some time.
Super Smash Brothers (Player Uno and Player Dos) take on Fire Ant and Soldier Ant of The Colony in what could possibly be match of the night, with both teams being fan favourites.
And the only other match announced is Green Ant taking on “old-timer” Darkness Crabtree, who is about a billion years old and breaks a hip just climbing into the ring.
And finally on June 27th, CHIKARA calls into Cleveland, Ohio.
Eddie Kingston takes on current Young Lions Cup holder Tim Donst.
Mike Quackenbush teams up with Frightmare to take on the BDK's Lince Doardo and Pinkie Sanchez.
And Da Soul Touchaz appear again to take on all three members of The Colony.
Finally in other CHIKARA news, the DVD's of King Of Trio's 2010 have been released and can be found at smartmarkvideo.com priced at $20 per night (so $60 for the entire tournament)
OTHER INDY NEWS:
Juggalo Championship Wrestling (yes, that federation ran by Insane Clown Posse) held two shows this week, the first being in Minneapolis this past Wednesday.
Quick results are:
Corporal Robinson defeated local competitor Corporal Julio. After the match, Robinson's manager Violent JJ (who is ISP's Violent J's five year old son), attacked Julio with some right hands....
Weedman defeated Aria Davari.
JCW Tag Champions the Thomaselli Brothers retained their titles in a match against The North Star Express (Darren Corbin and Ryan Cruz)
Madman Pondo retained the JCW Heavyweight Title in a match against Horace The Psychopath.
The next night in Iowa, Weedman defeated Justin Strife and Yellow Dog in a Triple Threat match.
Corporal Robinson defeated local wrestler David Clark, this time Violent JJ climbed the turnbuckle after the match and delivered a double knee to the chest of Clark.
The Thomaselli Brothers got another successful defence of their Tag Titles against Brian Got and Darrick Cornell.
Finally Mad Man Pondo again retained his JCW Heavyweight Title in a match against Donnie Peppercorn.
SHIMMER have announced their next set of DVD tapings for the 11th and 12th of September.
This will be the filming for Volumes 33–36.
Already announced for participation in the tapings are: SHIMMER Champion Madison Eagles, SHIMMER Tag Team Champions "The Canadian Ninjas" Portia Perez & Nicole Matthews, Cheerleader Melissa, Sara Del Rey, MsChif, Ayumi Kurihara, and Daizee Haze.
…... AND FINALLY:
Well before I end this edition of Hazed & Confused, its time for a rant of sorts. Something that a lot of people seem to have an opinion on and it only seems to be negative views. I for one will be different as usual and will see the positives on the so-called “PG Era” of the WWE.
I wont go into details of what it is and how it came about etc as you should know by now, unless you live under a rock..... in which case, how are you reading this?
The way I see it, the PG of WWE isn't a bad thing at all and I honestly think people are moaning over nothing and haven't thought about it at all.
The first thing that people bring up is “well there's less / no blood now”. GOOD!!!!
Now I'm sorry but having watched wrestling since the early 80's, I really don't see the need for blood in every match UNLESS its used in a way that its special and means something.
I really find it boring sometimes that someone bleeds in a match for no reason, it just seems to be “oh, we'll have this guy grab a chair and hit this guy”.
I think that blood and to a larger extent weapon shots should only be used for a damn good reason that fits in with the storyline and the characters involved.
Having those things in a match with, for example, Matt Hardy and Dolph Ziggler would make no sense at all as it doesnt really fit either guy currently. But on the other hand, if it was in the current Edge / Orton feud, I wouldn't have a problem with it IF they done it at the right time and it made sense to do so.
My other main point is, a company has a whole can still be fun and entertaining without these things. Now take CHIKARA for example, who I consider to be THE most entertaining company at the moment and who do “sports entertainment” a lot better than the WWE can do it.
To my recollection, they have NEVER used blood in a match, yet they are still highly entertaining for older wrestling fans.
Next up is people saying “oh they cant swear now”....... Seriously?? Do they REALLY have to swear to get their point across? I think any wrestler that uses a lot of profanity or close to it is just being lazy and uncreative in their wording UNLESS again it fits their character or their current storyline.
Other positives I see on the current PG level is that as it is now rated as such, some parents wont have a big a problem letting their children watch the shows, which will obviously draw in more viewers, creating better ratings and also bringing in more and more fans to the product, which in itself is not a bad thing at all.
Leading on from this and from more a financial standpoint for the company, turning PG will attract bigger advertisers for the WWE, thus bringing in more money which hopefully could be used to make the company bigger and bring in more talented wrestlers.
Good night and I shall return again soon.

Great article, i really enjoyed reading the indy stuff and i agree with your opinion on wwe pg, but: pg killed some special matches for wwe! hardcore matches, first blood and of course hell in a cell are completely useless without blood. they absolutely took out the hell part... by the way, are inferno matches too hot for pg? and the swearing will change over time, since every swear becomes common after a few years. 40 years ago no adult said "crap" and today its common language.

Well, the problem isn't so much that they NEED to have blood in a match, it's more the fact that there CAN'T be blood in a match.
Take for example the CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio match at OTL. That was completely stopped for a few minutes because CM Punk was bleeding from his head, which ruined the whole momentum they had going.

You're useless girl, people like you demand there money back for "finding nemo" since you find it too vulgur.
They're needs to be surprises in wrestling. keep us on our feet. with Matt Hardy and Dolph Ziglar yeah get a chair!
“oh, we'll have this guy grab a chair and hit this guyâ€. Hahaha whats wrong with you? That sounds exhilarating, with some adrenaline (god knows wrestling needs some more) and just pure great to watch. and i dont mean showing fan reactions with a chair shot i mean real chair shots. you wanting it to "make sense in the storyline". wow! *yawn*. That goes for blood aswell, cutting blood is stupid they just need to do it right (after a piledriver, in a triple threat, NOT this turnbuckle stuff. theres been this weak leading up to blood in the last few years.) Theres been alot of bloody matches in wwe that you deserve to get slapped for if you complain, pure fun and perfect to watch. Guererro, JBL..
As for swearing, you even find something wrong about that. i dont know where to start about this.
that PG is the most pathetic thing iv read on the internet. you blew my mind. this is what is making the new generation so weak. whining all sensitive, its a disgrace.

I agree with you totally, seeing blood in every single match just kind of gets old. And i think that somewhere along the line everyone forgot the real reason we're watching WWE and that's for wrestling, you can be entertained with seeing a bunch of people hitting each other with chairs and watching them bleed. Also, the no blood is kind of a good thing, say they were using the fake blood or whatever, and a certain wrestler ended up having real serious bleeding issues and noone notices, this ending up being a serious issue. I'm just saying.
As for the swearing, i don't find it a problem either way. If you are really entertained by hearing someone curse go watch comedy central or something else. I realize there just words, but to much swearing begins to sound like someone who overly uses a certain word.
For the most part, I agree with you on the PG Era
