Good morning, afternoon or evening and welcome to the Hazed & Confused Monday Night Raw report.
Now granted, I've never done a live report for Raw before, but after what transpired last night I was damn well motivated to do one.
I will not being doing major detail on the matches, just a quick recap as I feel there's a lot more interesting things that happened outside of them this week.
So without further delay lets jump straight into it.
This weeks Raw comes from the Thomas & Mack Center, Las Vegas, Nevada and your hosts are Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole.
The show is all about the Raw Roulette gimmick, which is basically that before each match, a big wheel is spun and randomly chooses what type of match will happen. Pretty simple concept.
The “master of the wheel” is Booker T.
We start the show with Shawn Michaels coming out to the ring.
He basically says that he tried to go away but its hard to stay away. Then makes some jokes about not being someone who comes on to self-promote something, whilst doing exactly that.
Shawn is interrupted by Punk and Nexus minus Mason Ryan who apparently was hurt over the weekend. Punk talks about how Shawn has an addictive personality and can't stay away.
Punk reminds us that he's leaving on the 17th July. He says he's going to leave a winner, unlike Shawn who left as a loser.
After some more insults, Shawn says that the people cheer him because they know he's better than Punk. Shawn says they both have their own styles, pauses and then Otunga's head is kicked off.
“May I have your attention please!” The Raw GM has sent an email that says “And I quote”....
Punk has the first match tonight so let's spin the wheel. We spin the wheel and it lands on a question mark. That means he has a mystery match, a match that will send him to HELL!!!
So basically Punk will be facing Kane in our first match. Shawn gets Sweet Shoulder Music to McGillicutty and out comes Kane.
MATCH ONE – Kane Vs CM Punk
The majority of this match is Kane dominating, Punk gets in some offence but seems to get shot down just as he's about to take the lead.
The ending came at around the 4 minute mark, as Punk had enough and decided to leave the ring and leave, getting himself counted out and handing Kane the victory.
Punk walks off saying that he doesn't care any more.
Winner – Kane via countout
Next up is a match that apparently should have happened last week, but didn't due to the screw up with the voting results.
The wheel is spun and the match will be a No Countout
MATCH TWO – Sin Cara Vs Evan Bourne
They start on the mat until Cara speeds things up with his insane flying stuff.
They go back and forth for a bit, with Cara hitting a HUGE suicide dive. The crowd is very much into this. Cara goes for.... something.... and Bourne counters into a headscissors to take over and we go back inside.
A few two counts for both men, the finish coming when Bourne attempts the Shooting Star, misses and Cara gets his spinning mat slam for the pin at 4:52.
Winner – Sin Cara
Booker T is backstage with Kofi Kingston who will be facing Dolph Ziggler next.
Kofi goes to spin the wheel to determine what the match will be but Vickie appears and spins the wheel herself, which lands on a “Players Choice” match, so Kofi gets to choose the stipulation.
Major lameness here as he choose that Vickie is banned from ringside.
Before we go to the match, we are informed that Rey Mysterio, Kofi Kingston, Evan Bourne, Alberto Del Rio, R-Truth, Jack Swagger, Alex Riley and The Miz will be the entrants into the Raw Money In The Bank match at the upcoming PPV.
MATCH THREE – Kofi Kingston Vs Dolph Ziggler
Vickie tries to come out to introduce Ziggler, but instead is sent to the back.
The bell rings and almost immediately Ziggler tries to walk out of the match, only for Kofi to catch up with him and bring him back to the ring. We then go to commercials.
As we come back, Ziggler channels the power of Orton with a chin lock.
Kofi reverses a half nelson slam into a small package for two. Dolph throws Kofi into the ropes but Kofi bounces off the top and a hits a sweet looking Trouble in Paradise which ends this at 7:35.
Winner – Kofi Kingston
Again we go backstage where Booker recaps the first hour with Maryse next to him. Alberto comes in and complains about having to face Show again. Alberto asks Maryse to spin it for luck. The match is a steel cage match which gets a big reaction from the crowd. Del Rio is pretty annoyed and Booker comes out with "Tell me she didn't just spin that."
MATCH FOUR – Alberto Del Rio Vs Big Show
The match is won by pin, submission or escape here. Alberto runs for the cage wall almost immediately and that doesn't work at all. Alberto gets a boot in at Show but can't really follow up. He gets a shot in to the knee and works it over which is the best strategy against Show here.
Out comes Mark Henry as Show starts his comeback and chops away. Chokeslam is loaded up but Alberto kicks Shows knee out again.
A superplex from the corner nearly breaks the ring. Outside Henry to try to rip the door off and is quickly successful. Henry comes in and attacks Show, allowing Del Rio to escape for the win at 5:23.
Winner – Alberto Del Rio
After the match Henry rams Show, who is between the ropes and cage wall, with the door of the cage causing Show to fall through the side of the cage. Pretty cool visual with the whole side coming off and collapsing on the floor.
Show is not moving and pretty out of it, whilst Henry stands around shouting at the officials and then at random fans.
Next up is your weekly Raw toilet break as the Bella's come out as Nikki takes on the current Divas champion, Kelly Kelly. It is also announced that Brie will take on Kelly in a rematch for the title at Money In The Bank.
The wheel is spun and it will be a submission match..... Lord help us!!!
MATCH FIVE – Nikki Bella Vs Kelly Kelly
Nikki straight away goes for Kelly's arm at an attempt at a Fujiwara Armbar. Thankfully Kelly turns it into a Boston Crab, Nikki taps and this match is over at about 1:30
Winner – Kelly Kelly
A video is shown on that guy who won Tough Enough and I really don't care.
Rey Mysterio is backstage to find out the stipulation for his match, the wheel gets spun and it will be a Tag Tornado match.
His partner will be Alex Riley and they will face The Miz and Jack Swagger.
Rules are simple, a tag match with all people in the ring at the same time.
Randomly, DDP appears to promote the WCW Nitro DVD. Drew McIntyre comes in and complains that all the old guys are taking up his TV time and warns them that they have ten minutes to leave.
Out of nowhere.... BAM!... Sweet Chin Music to Drew. HBK says he would like the DVD as he never watched WCW.
MATCH SIX – Rey Mysterio & Alex Riley Vs The Miz & Jack Swagger
Now unfortunately my TV messed up and only came back on with about 30 seconds left of the match where we see Rey getting the pin for his team.
Winners – Rey Mysterio & Alex Riley
We go and come back from commercial and R-Truth is to see what match he will face John Cena in. Truth spins the wheel after checking for a conspiracy and ends up with a Tables match.
MATCH SEVEN – John Cena Vs R-Truth
As I'm running out of space, all you need to know is that Punk came out, started to beat down Cena, allowing Truth to spear Cena through a table for the win.
I know, I know, but what happens after is so much more important than the match.... Sue me!
Winner – R-Truth
After the match, Punk grabs a mic and sits at the top of the ramp and tells John Cena that while he lays there hopefully as uncomfortably as he can possibly be, he wants Cena to digest some of the things that Punk wants to get off his chest before he leaves in three weeks with Cena's title.
Punk states that he doesn't hate John and he actually likes John. He says that he likes Cena a hell of a lot more than most of the people in the back.
What Punk hates is the idea that Cena is the best because he is not. Punk says that he is the best and the best in the world. There is one thing that Cena is better at and that is kissing Vince McMahon's ass. Punk says that Cena is just as good at kissing McMahon's ass as Hulk Hogan was. He doesn't know if Cena is as good as Dwayne because he is a pretty good ass kisser and still is.
Punk says that he is breaking the fourth wall and he waves to the camera. Punk reiterates that he is the best wrestler in the world. He has been the best since day one when he walked into the company.
He mentions being picked up because of Paul Heyman, that he is one of Heyman's boys. Also mentions Brock Lesnar and that again Punk will walk away from the WWE as the champion.
Punk then states that he is the best on the microphone, in the ring, and even on commentary. Nobody can touch him.
Yet no matter how many times he has proven it, he is not on any of the merchandise, the poster for Mania or even the video at the start of Raw. He doesn't even appear on the crappy USA Network shows. Punk says that he should be.
He says that this isn't sour grapes. The fact that Dwayne is in the main event of Wrestlemania next year and he isn't makes Punk sick. Punk blames the people cheering him as the reason for him leaving, as they still buy the merchandise that he is not on and “then at five in the morning, at the airport, you shove it in my face for an autograph so you can sell it on eBay because you are too lazy to get a real job.”
Punk says that he is leaving with the WWE Championship on the 17th. Who knows, maybe he'll defend it in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Maybe he'll go back to Ring of Honor.
“Hey Colt Cabana, how ya doing?”
Punk goes on to say that Vince is a millionaire who should be a billionaire. He says that it is because he surrounds himself with idiots and “yes men” like John Laurinaitis who is going to tell him everything that he wants to hear.
Maybe this company will be better after Vince McMahon is dead, but the fact is that it's gonna get taken over by his idiotic daughter and his doofus son-in-law and the rest of his stupid family.
Punk then wants tell us a personal story about Vince McMahon. He says something about a bully campaign . . . but then his mic is turned off and he gestures about being silenced by the WWE as the screen just goes to black and we're out for this week.
All in all, one of the better Raw's in the past few weeks.
I may be biased as it could be the two promos from Punk this week that made it that much better. The last promo was just AMAZING and so true in everything that Punk said.
And if you didn't know, straight after Raw the WWE site announced that Punk had been suspended indefinitely for his actions so will not be facing Cena at Money In The Bank. So for now, who will face Cena at Money In The Bank?
(If you have read the spoilers for next week, please do NOT post in the comments below what happens out of respect for other people reading)
Anyways, thank you for reading this live Raw report. I am Angel Of Desire and this has been Hazed & Confused.... Peace out!
