Highland View: PPV’s

Hello ladies and gentlemen and welcome to yet another exciting edition of Highland View! I thank you for joining me today I hope you enjoy your stay. Today I shall be looking at some of my favourite WWE Pay-Per-Views (PPV’s). I shall also be analyzing which PPV’s I like and dislike. Now, let’s get to it!

Number 1- Road To WrestleMania PPV’s
These are Elimination Chamber (or No Way Out) and the Royal Rumble. Both are such interesting concepts with a big main event (in EC’s case events). Firstly the Royal Rumble. It makes the whole month of December seem somewhat better. After eating too much at Christmas you get to look forward to seeing who WWE will be pushing to the big time if the win the RR match. Look at the past Royal Rumble. Ladberto Del Rio won the match, who happens to be WWE Champion? Ladberto Del Rio. The Royal Rumble for me, is probably better than the Elimination Chamber! Why you may ask? Well the Royal Rumble gives guys like Booker T or Kevin Nash to make a one night re-appearance. You just can’t get that anywhere else! In Basketball would Michael Jordan come back and play in the ‘championship’ match, so to speak, for the bulls? No! The match gives us something different. Something different also comes with the Elimination Chamber, which like at Royal Rumble, is also  the main attraction of the PPV (hence why they are named after the matches!) I mean look at the Smackdown Elimination Chamber, that was one EPIC match! Considering it was only really going to be Edge that would win the match it was still very exciting!

Number 2- Night Of Champions
Now I just love NOC due to the fact that every match HAS A POINT! Unlike the main proportion of PPV’s every match is for ‘something’. NOH means that you don’t have to have watched WWE for that long to understand the importance of the match. You can tune in at the DIVAS title match and understand what is going on. It also means that you have LESS chance of a rubbish match. Why? Because people know if the perform well at NOC they can win or retain the title. Moreover they can also prove to the higher ups in the WWE, that they should be given/ keep the title.

As of now and for the rest of the article WrestleMania will NOT be mentioned! Why you might ask? Well simple, EVERYONE in the WWE LOVES Wrestlemania. It is the WWE’s biggest show of the year. They spend SO much money making WM the best it can be as they know it will rake in the money. I don’t feel I should have to talk about what people already know.

Number 3- Summerslam
Now this may seem suprising given I have just mentioned WrestleMania just before this but I do like Summerslam. Summer Slam gives you a nice break in the summer to watch some WWE. Plus this is one of the ‘bigger’ PPV’s for the WWE so if big important stuff (heel/face changes) happen, Summer Slam is where that changes at! Plus Summer Slam normally means some great matches. Look at one of the more recent ones, in 2008 when Undertaker faced Edge. I do remember LOVING the build up to the match and when I saw it, I wasn’t disappointed. Both Edge and Taker showed  why they are probably osme of the best wrestlers from their era. That proved, to me at least, why both deserve HOF status

Now after showing you what I like, let’s move onto stuff I don’t like

Number 4- Bragging Rights
I know you may think I am ‘crazy’ but Braggins Rights insn’t that great. Yes the inter-brand match is good but it seems they care more about that then the main event/mid-card storylines. Seriosuly WWE  you already have two BIG match related PPV’s (Elimination Chamber and Royal Rumble). Why do you need another one? Answer, you DON’t. In both Elimination Chamber and Royal Rumble you put effort into most of the matches. In Bragging Right you just seem to think everyone wants to watch the Inter-brand match. Fair enough

Number 5- Tables Ladders and Chairs
Now I get that WWE is right now in a ‘PG’ era so blood and such isn’t really allowed, so WHY WWE do you have this PPV. I can remember watching previous Extreme Rules pre-PG and it was AMAZING!  Obviously, granted in pre-PG era, the wrestlers could go mental and do pretty much whatever they felt like doing I get that. However now WWE seems to have given up with Extreme Rules, well in my opinion they have. So I really don’t see the point in having a PPV that you don’t actually stick to the rules with. Surely if it’s Extreme Rules you will have some crazy matches going on. Now by this I don’t mean one beast match and everything rubbish, I mean all the matches are extreme, now stupid ‘chairs matches’. Gosh WWE give us something new and crazy, that is what we want!

Question: If you could which WWE superstar would you fire?

Answer: Well if you are counting Michael Cole as a “superstar” then there is you’re answer.  I don’t honestly think I need to give any reason. If Cole isn’t a superstar, which he’s not he’s an annoying ‘thing’, then without a doubt I would fire The Great Khali. The guy is USELESS. Remember when Triple H said he’d wrestle a broomstick to keep his job? That would be better than watching a Khali match. At least with the broomstick we could garuntee it wouldn’t botch around all match! More than that he doesn’t do ANYTHING. He just walks around like an idiot gets Ranjan Singh to translate something, lifts his arms up and wins matches from time to time.

Now as always I tahnk you for joining me and I hope you enjoyed your stay! Have a different opinion to mine? Think there are better or worse PPV’s out there? Feel free to comment them below, I always appreciate your feedback :)
