Highland View: They Should Have Used
Hello ladies and gentlemen and welcome to yet another exciting edition of Highland View, I hope you enjoy your stay. As always I try to bring you something different each week as this week shall be no different. It is not a ‘Rise and Fall’ article no, that is something similar to this, a never ending series. This week I will be looking at wrestlers, who I think, the WWE should have used better than they have. This week is none other than Ted DiBiase! Now let’s get to it!
As you should know Ted is really DiBiase Jr, the son of legendary hall of famer ‘The Million Dollar Man’ Ted Dibiase. Now that in its own right does lend itself to benefiting Teddy Jr. Why you might ask? Because wrestling is in his blood! He will have grown up watching his dad wrestle, he will know no different. Look at, excuse me for this, Orton, he’s a third generation superstar. He knows that ring so well, wrestling is in his blood. Moving back to Teddy Jr, WWE should have made him one for the future. Not one for the job ville, as Drew McIntyre is king of that land.
Now DiBiase came into the WWE fairly big. In his first ever WWE match, let only first televised/PPV match, he won the Tag Team Championships. This was when the Tag Titles were still a bit of a deal, certainly meant a lot more than being the tag champions does now. That was almost WWE’s first big mistake. If you are going to bring a guy in at the mid-card to main event area make sure you keep him there. Make sure you can actually commit to him being in the top level of your talent. This is similar to guys like Zack Ryder/Curt Hawkins and Drew McIntyre. WWE brought in these guys to high levels but almost forgot about them.
After his start WWE did what they did to new guys they are un-sure about, grouped them with a main eventer and hoped for the best. In this case it was ‘Legacy’, which was actually a pretty unique group in its own right. Come on, how many groups have wrestlers who are all at least second generation wrreslters? Despite this rare gold mine WWE decided, as always to make Randy Orton to be in charge of the group. This is what gets a me. For TWO years, TWO WHOLE YEARS, DiBiase and Rhodes basically did what Orton said. Surely anyone, who wants some success, will put themselves before someone else. That is why the storyline failed. It was TOO unrealistic and too predictable, we have seen this too many times before in the WWE.
Anyway DiBiase went from bad to worse as he then was made to jump on his dad’s gimmick. I mean come on WWE that is something you NEVER do. No-one wants to live up to their dad, certainly not when your dad was the ‘million dollar man’ and a Hall Of Famer for crying out loud! Moreover, copying a gimmick that has already been done never really works, very rarely do you hear people saying how much they enjoyed people going back to old gimmicks. I mean come one, would you like it if Undertaker went back to his American Biker Guy gimmick? Or if Orton went back to pretending to be some sort of homeless guy? My point is therefore proven.
Back to Ted and being the ‘Million Dollar Man’ 2, the only plus out of this was that we got to see Maryse every week. That was quite honestly the only reason I enjoyed watchin DiBiase wrestle was the fact I knew WWE would show us some Maryse! What was weird about this angle was WWE decided to let Ted wrestle his half-brother, G0ldust for the Million Dollar Belt, which is one of the coolest belts in the WWE! That to me seemed fairly weird as they didn’t really talk about how Goldust and Ted were actually RELATED! It did mean that they avoided the boring and standard brother vs. brother storyline they do WAYY to much!
Anyway I am not really going to bore you with all the details of stuff that no one really cares about. Basically after his fued with his brother, DiBiase somewhat re-united with his former tag partner, Cody Rhodes. That is what gets me with the WWE, if you have split them up, keep them split up! Don’t keep making them get back together; stand by your decision WWE! Then again WWE split them up with no real reason as to why they became allies in the first place and why the split up, that’s typical WWE for you. Into September DiBiase had a new gimmick in which he somewhat became a face, where he feuded with Cody Rhodes, I mean come on, that was SOO hard to see happening wasn’t it? Nothing really of interest happened, he challenged for the Intercontinental Championship, which he didn’t win. Other than that not much else happened. As of right now DiBiase is injured and is out of action for a while.
Now onto why I think the WWE should have used DiBiase in a more effective way then they had done before. Firstly, I know I have gone over it before but it is a big deal, he is a THIRD generation superstar. His dad is a Hall Of Famer, wrestling is what he knows best. Give him that chance and you can be looking at a future face/heel of a brand. Secondly, he has spent quite a few years in the WWE so surely that deserves some form of credit? I mean apart from the Million Dollar Champ and the Tag Team titles (which he won two of) DiBiase has had no golf to show for his time within the WWE. Don’t you think maybe just maybe that should be changed WWE? Finally, he was in a movie, a WWE studios movie. That means he wasted quite a bit of his wrestling career to do filming for your film, which didn’t really get much hype compared to others.
Thank you once again for joining me for Highland View; I hope you enjoyed your stay. As always if you have a different opinion to me or want to ask me something feel free to comment that down below. I always appreciate your feedback :)

Well most of this article is based on Goldust not being acknowledged as Ted DiBiase's half brother... Maybe that's because he's not his half brother? Try get your facts right before you write an entire article on something that isn't even right... (Just a suggestion!)
