Highland View: What Would Make My Day
Hello ladies and gentlemen and welcome to yet another edition of Highland View! As always I am Highlander G and as always I am doing something a bit different today. I shall be looking at certain things in the WWE, which would ‘make my day’.
Number 1- Booker T for chief SD commentator
What I mean by this is I want Booker T to be the ‘voice’ of Smack Down just as good ol’ Jr is the ‘voice’ of the WWE. Why you might ask? Cause Booker T is HILARIOUS. Not only that but he actually knows what he is talking about, having ex-WWE wrestlers is a win-win for all. The ex-guy gets paid to watch wrestling and the WWE gets someone to commentate the shows who knows what they are talking about *cough* Michael Cole *cough*. Mainly Booker T is funny. Example you may need? In the Sin Cara vs. Sin Cara match at Hell In A Cell he said the funniest line. When one Sin Cara kicked the other in the head Booker T called it “the mask area”. The guy is hilarious and he probably doesn’t intend to be. The banter at SmackDown (bar Cole) is great to watch. The commentators play off each other, making everything so much better.
Number 2- Vince McMahon to be banned from WWE for LIFE
You may ask me why I think this, because granted Vince has done one HECK of a job at the WWE, they have gone from being a decent federation to the most well know wrestling promotion on the planet. In the few decades that is an amazing feat. However, when Vince is around things always end up going the way HE wants it to, what makes him the most money, not what makes the fans happy. It’s like the Manchester United takeover saga, all the Glazers care about it getting as much money as they can not what the Man United fans actually want. Back to the WWE, almost always the major storylines end up being decided under the Vincefluence (Vince’s influence). I know it may sound moany/repetitive but how many times has Cena/Orton come out as champs? Too many. Why? Because of the Vincefluence. If the Vincefluecne was gone then we could see some crazy good storylines happen, but you never know. I highly, HIGHLY doubt this will ever happen as Vince is just too big in the WWE to ever go away.
Number 3- The End to Michael Cole as a commentator/ Commentary Changes
Now I don’t mean shoot the guy but GET HIM OFF MY DARN TV!! I almost want to mute him every time he speaks. Almost any word he says makes me want to punch him in the face. I get WWE are going with the heel gimmick, but they took it WAY too far. Yes he had to live up to Jr, which no-one could do. But when good ol’ Jr returns you insult him? No WWE no! Cole makes WWE even more unbearable to watch is he constantly tries cheap little insults that never work. Moreover, he KILLS any form of chemistry the commentators have together. Look successful shows (Top Gear) the presenters in this case, crack jokes and have a laugh with each other like there is no tomorrow. On Rarely Any Wrestling? The odd joke here and there and then it’s JR and The King talking to each other. Bah Gawd what a difference!
Now this links into the other thing that would make my day; an end to 3 at a table. It just doesn’t work no matter what why the cookie crumbles. Three guys commentating just don’t work as it isn’t balanced. You can’t have commentator 1 make a jokes to commentator 2 without commentator 3 wanting to get involved, and so on and so forth. What you do WWE is have set commentators (only 2!) per show like you used to have. Here is what I propose;
Rarely Any Wrestling: Jr and Jerry Lawler
Smack Down: Matt Striker and Booker T
The other rubbish shows (NXT and Superstars) you could put a gorilla to commentate and I don’t think anyone would care. Seriously try that WWE, get a gorilla to commentate and maybe, just maybe you could get more viewers. However what you could do also it get guys like CM Punk back on commentary and let them roll. Honestly Punk is up there with Booker T for being king of banter.
Number 4- Push the Younger Guys
I know this can link back to the main, old and repetitive argument of “less Cena/Orton” but I’ll try to make it different. Yes giving older guys like Mark Henry and Big Slow, who have EARNT there shot is good. But forgetting about guys like Barrett, Di Biase and McIntyre? That is NOT on one bit WWE. These guys are your future so all but forgetting about them is just not on. Fair enough if they turn to drugs *cough* Evan Bourne *cough* they should get demoted to jobber land and make to earn the way back up. That doesn’t mean demote anyone to jobber land because you can’t be bothered to make up a storyline for them. You have guys whose job it is too make them, what are they doing? What I’m trying to say is seeing guys like Daniel Bryan, Ted Dibiase, or Drew McIntyre (mainly Drew McIntyre) leading the light in the WWE would be something to marvel.
Now that is all ladies and gentlemen thank you once again for stopping by I hope you enjoyed your stay, I hope to see you again next time. Have different opinions to me? Want to ask me something? Comment them below, I always appreciate your feedback :)
Question: What are your feelings on Zack Ryder?
Answer: Well I ain’t head over heels in love with the guy. He’s got charisma I’ll give you that and the youtube show it’s funny and good too watch but it shows desperation for me. Did guys like The Rock, Hogan or Stone Cold need the world wide web to get big in the WWE? No. So why should he be any different. Hard work pays off. Yes granted, he has spent some time with the WWE but it all comes down to Vince liking you. I guess unfortunately for Zack Vicne isn’t hot on him. Now back to the question, I don’t hate they guy but he isn’t really my cup of tea so to speak.

Great article.
1) Don't really watch Smackdown so can't say much about Bookah there but I did see the PPV and you're right; he seems funny but never intentionally.
2) While it may seem like a good idea I'm not really sure about it coz let's face it, is there anyone else right now?
3) 100% with you. If anyone reads my article you'll know that I hate Cole with a passion.
4) Still with ya.
I do disagree on Ryder though. He's only using all the tools available to his disposal. This is the age of social media and, if nothing else, Zack Ryder is a very shrewd person to exploit that fact. Do you really think that if The Rock was around in this day (and by that I mean actively wrestling not making guest appearences) he wouldnt do the same given the chance? I don't think so. I watch RAW remember and I can honestly say that he's a pretty decent wrestler. Like you said he's a very charismatic guy and sure he's following up on his gimmick from his youtube show but it suits him. Now that WWE seems to be giving him a chance I doubt he's gonna slack off anytime soon.

Cheers for the feedback Rag :)
With regards to the Vince thing I know it would never happen until he dies most likely, but a guy can dream can't he?
I would agree that Ryder is using what he has available pretty well, he got WWE to do it as well (Bigger superstars have their twitter below their name when they enter) However I don't think him going around petitioning about getting title shots is 'right', did guys like Ziggler, Jo-Mo, McIntyre do that? No, did they get title matches of their own back? Yes
