Lethal Injection; NXT Report 8/17/10

Welcome ladies and gentlemen to Lethal Injection. Tonight is double elimination night on NXT! With 5 remaining, who will be the men going home?

Let’s show the world what we got

Jamie Keys introduces the NXT rookies one at a time to take up the first few minutes. Matt Striker gives them one minute to talk about anything they want, except why they shouldn’t be eliminated.

Percy talks about 3D (and not two d, because that would take a little longer). He talks about the three d’s he lives by daily; desire, determination, dedication. And we best believe he has those three to win this contest (and said “you know what I’m talkin’ about/sayin’ 7 times).

Alex Riley talks about…Alex Riley. He says he knows he made a mistake about how he approached this, and apologizes for picking on Kaval, who can barely protect himself in real life. He apologizes for throwing a rabbits foot at Lucky, and tells Lucky “don’t worry, we still need bar tenders”. He then apologizes for calling Striker a nerd… then takes it back, because it was funny. He then says he doesn’t know why he should apologize, because if he didn’t do those things, he wouldn’t be…Alex Riley.

Michael McGillicutty talks about his competition. Saying he thinks Percy isn’t smiling, but scared, compares Kaval to a Chihuahua, says to Husky “sorry, I’m winning this thing”, and says Alex Riley is “the David Otunga of season 2”. He syas we’re looking at the best in the competiton, the best in the company and a future WWE champion.

Kaval’s topic is NXT. He does some kind of rap thing and does it horribly… but it’s a;l worth it when he says he’s the only one to bring “total nonstop action”

WIN! For that remark alone!

Husky talks about cowboy boots. He says that he wears them, and so does the devil. It was a nice little rant actually.

Striker takes the mic and says… the first elimination will be now! We go through the pictures over and over and…

The loser is… Percy Watson!

Ok…before I go into his goodbye speech…let me just say I saw this coming. I didn’t like him in the beginning, and I knew his jerky moves and fast talking would end him. If you remember I ranked him last last week.

Anyway…onto his farewell.

He thanks us all for the support and thanks MVP. He says he will evaluate himself and keep on going. It was actually a very classy speech.

Michael McGillicutty vs. Zack Ryder

Good back and forth early. Zack has a small burst in the beginning, but then McGillicutty just takes control and keeps it for a while, hitting some old-school moves on Ryder. Zack gets thrown outside, and McGillicutty goes for a baseball slide. But Ryder moves and starts to take control! Ryder keeps the pressure on the Rookie and keeps trying to pin, but McGillicutty gihts back and takes control back, just destroying Zack. McGillicutty gets caught in the top rope, and then gets hit by the Rough Ryder for the 1-2-3!

Match Winner: Zack Ryder

Match Rating: B

They go over what happened at Summerslam with Kane and Undertaker. No one has done a report on that yet… but I’m sure you’ve heard what happened by now.

We go back stage and LayCool and Kaval are getting ready for the next match. LayCool have some “real talk” after Kaval leaves, with Michelle asking if there’s something between Kaval and Layla, which she denies. But Layla says she likes to close her eyes, and just hear his voice.

Which works, because I close my eyes and just like to watch Layla. But I digress.

Layla walks off, but in walks Husky, who asks if Michelle believes in love at first sight, or should he walk by again. She says “you should walk by again”.

I’m so glad they saved that….

Husky Harris vs. Kaval

So here we go…again…with Husky vs. Kaval. I think this is the rubber match between them. Whoever wins this match will end up second in NXT, I predict. Husky, of course, dominates with his strength. Kaval sells being thrown around very well though. Out of nowhere, Kaval hits a rolling kick thing to get some separation and start to take control. The kicks continue, and Kaval even gets a near-fall. Husky ducks the Warrior’s Way, and hits a something-like Rock Bottom, but only gets a 2-count. Harris goes for it again, but Kaval hits a DDT out of it, and then the Warrior’s Way for the 1-2-3.

Winner: Kaval

Rating: B+

We have a replay of what happened to Bryan by The Miz and Riley on RAW.

Alex Riley vs. Kofi Kingston

I hate that Kingston is from West Africa now…just saying….

Anyway, we have some back and forth action, but Riley finally gets the advantage. He holds it for a while until Kofi catches him off the turnbuckles. Kofi then takes Riley to school. He hits the Boom-Boom Drop, and then Trouble in Paradise, for the 1-2-3.

Match Winner: Kofi Kingston

Match Segment: C+

We take 10 minutes to go over Summerslam week and RAW. Read The General’s report if you would like a recap of what happened on RAW.

Striker has Michael Cole and Josh Matthews make predictions. Michael says Alex should win and Kaval should be eliminated. Josh agrees with him (oddly enough).

Please stand by for this PSA!

Ok…mid-show rant. I’m sorry have to do this. Alex Riley should be much farther ahead then he is in the polls. He has his character set, and it can easily transition from the “Varsity Bully” to another dominate heel type in a few years. He has the mic skills to make anybody look like a star next to him, and then tear them down! I’ve had him as my favorite all season of me wanting him to win, and I still hope it. But it’s not me..it’s what WWE universe voted for.

And the loser is…

We come back and the rookies are out… and the loser is….

Husky Harris!

Cody Rhodes goes on a rant! He chews out the pros, and all the rookies. A brawl ensues between all the male pros and Husky and Kaval! It ends with Husky hurt on the ground after a Warrior’s Way. Husky finally gets up and leaves, but with Rhodes and himself yelling at the crowd and everyone else.

I have to say I’m not surprised… but I really thought Alex was going to be gone because of his heel status. But I guess people hate Husky more than Alex right now… which is cool with me. Anything to keep Alex around.

So, the new Laz Rankings will be so much shorter now, but you may be surprised with what I have from it.

#1 – Michael McGillicutty – I don’t know what they’re doing with him, as he’s making heel comments, but getting face reactions from the pros. No matter what, I think he’s going to end up winning the show.

#2 – Kaval – I don’t think the ‘internet crowd’ will help him win, unless he can do something next week to change my mind. He’s a great competitor, but if WWE keeps bringing in talented people, I’m gonna think their wanting to improve their shows. And I just don’t want the disappointment.

#3 – Alex Riley – I think he’s the best guy on the show… I think he’s the top guy with the brightest future and the most solid skills on mic and in ring. It will cost him because he’s a heel. That’s the ONLY reason why he won’t win. If he does, I will mark out.

However, I think in two weeks, Michael will walk away the winner and the guaranteed shot, and NeXus may want to bring him in (though I doubt this would happen). But Michael will win… bank on it.

I know Kofi is from West Africa somewhere, but they should have let him be from there from the beginning or still have him from Jamaica. It's all good though.. a little "tweak" on my part :P

    Thank for the article!
But I do not think that Riley is better than Husky. So far I'm not convinced that Riley has anything special. IMHO he is just a regular guy that whines and complaints about anything and everything. As Michael noticed, Riley as that Otunga guy that I dislike so much.
