Lockdown Preview

Welcome to the 2010 Lockdown preview brought to you by the Weekly Review! Every year Total Nonstop Action wrestling brings the world 12 PPV's but there are some that stick out. Although Bound for Glory is the big stage, Lockdown has to be a close second.

Almost like a gimmick PPV except this one has been tradition. Every match is contested within the metal structure that is the Steel Cage! For the first time TNA will host the PPV in the traditional four sided cage instead of their trademark six sides of steel. But regardless, there will be nowhere to run for the competitors when TNA puts on... THE LOCKDOWN!

The Beautiful People (Madison Rayne & Velvet Sky) (c) vs Angelina Love (c) & Tara- TNA Knockout Tag Team Titles and TNA Knockouts Championship

Three belts will be on the line in this contest and it has plenty of storyline. Velvet Sky won a contract to receive any match she wants two weeks ago on Impact and then took on Angelina Love last week for the title. Tara interfered and now we have a tag team match.

Although I like the knockout division more than the divas, I dont want to spend a lot of time on this match so im taking Madison Rayne and Velvet Sky to win just because im not sure if Angelina Love and Tara can work together but if they do win then believe me when I say that there will be chaos over the Knockouts Championship.

Prediction: Madison Rayne & Velvet Sky

Team 3D (Brother Ray & Brother Devon) vs The Band (Syxx-Pac & Scott Hall)

Ever since The Band has come to TNA they have seemed to slip through their matches with interference or some outside source. Now things get interesting because they have robbed Team 3D in the last two weeks with distractions and attacks but now they cant. At Lockdown the two teams will be locked in a steel cage to settle things and the last time The Band got in a cage, they lost. Im guessing that tables wont be an option for Team 3D so im going to pick The Band to find a way. Team 3D has always self proclaimed themselves as the greatest tag team ever to wrestle but its time for a test that isnt there occasional Beer Money opponent or someone like that. I think the match will be close but I have doubts about Team 3D while The Band is only building momentum. Team 3D have had weapons to deal with in the past two years at Lockdown in there Philly Street Fight and Lethal Lockdown match. No weapons this year will make the difference, and Team 3D wont be able to finish off The Band.

Prediction: The Band

-

Kevin Nash vs Eric Young

When The Band came into TNA, Kevin Nash made the decision to stick with Eric Young but obviously the case has changed now. The two were together on making sure The Band didnt get a contract with TNA but now the two will be on opposite sides of the ring. Kevin Nash tried to give Eric Young a spot on The Band but Young wanted nothing to do with it so he turned on Nash to seek revenge. Now they face off in Steel Cage to decide their differences after all. This is a step up for Eric Young meaning better than his previous storylines (beer drinking, beings scared of monsters, Super Eric, and world elite) and a step up from being in the pre-show like last year but he still wont get the win. I took The Band to win and now im taking Kevin Nash to finish the night off for the stable.

Prediction: Kevin Nash

Doug Williams (c) vs Shannon Moore vs Kazarian- X-Division Championship

Ever since the British Invasion broke up, Brutus Magnus has struggled but the other two members have been sheer dominance. Doug Williams and Rob Terry are both champions and at Lockdown, Williams will be putting his belt on the line against two opponents instead of one. These three men could cause a lot of havoc in the cage but the key to this match is Moore's and Kazarian's high flying attacks being extended by the steel cage that will be surrounding the ring. While being trapped inside, Doug Williams will have to rely on his technical based style to keep him alive in the match. Kazarian got this match by winning the Ultimate-X at Destination X and Shannon Moore got his spot by simply asking Doug Williams to check between his legs for a set. Moore may have lost his shot at Destination X but I can guarantee that the story is different this time. Doug Williams holds the belt but still has no respect for the highflying X-Division but I think he will be taught a lesson inside the steel cage. Im going long shot on this one and picking Shannon Moore but that still doesnt mean you shouldnt watch Kazarian as a sleeper.

Prediction: Shannon Moore

Kurt Angle vs Mr. Anderson

Anderson seems to think that he has the guaranteed win at Lockdown because he hold the key to the cage and im going to have to agree. These two have a full out story book rivalry that has been taking placing over the last two months. Everything has happened from Anderson spitting in Kurt Angle's face to Kurt Angle cutting Anderson with his warrior tag and vice versa. Even the army got involved but at Lockdown, all this will be coming to an end inside the steel cage. I know for a fact that Kurt Angle is taking time off after Lockdown for a few months so even if Kurt Angle is 100% it wont matter. Mr. Anderson will unlock the cage and escape in a bloody match that turns from battle to war.

Prediction: Mr. Anderson

Team Hogan (Abyss, Jeff Hardy, RVD, Jeff Jarrett) vs Team Flair (Sting, James Storm, Robert Roode, Desmond Wolfe)- Lethal Lockdown

Every year this is the big PPV event that blends the factors of being trapped in a steel cage and having weapons involved. James Storm and RVD will face off in a pre-show match to decide who gets the entrant advantage. This match has been built up huge and this time it wont be Frontline taking on Main Event Mafia. This time the match features Team Hogan which is a group of red hot wrestlers that might not have the momentum but there still the ones winning matches week after week. Their opponents are Team Flair which is the team that has been making the statements since there teamed formed.

Each man in this match has their own story but Team Flair has a similar one. Almost all four men have been champions in the past year or have been in the hot seat but now they all sit in a position with no mean to it. And that is why they all joined Team Flair and ever since joining they have made statements like breaking beer bottles, blowing fire balls, or just flat out doing what they want. The tables almost turned after Jarrett got a hold of Sting but unfortunately for him, he ended up taking a baseball bat to the stomach.

This match would seem like Team Flair could just carry all the momentum in and cap off their work in the past weeks by getting their names back into the title races but there is two reasons why I think that wont happen. First off Jeff Hardy and RVD have been unstoppable match wise in the past month by winning week after week plus you got Abyss who should be Heavyweight Champion but isnt because he put AJ Styles through the ring. With that being enough, Team Hogan also has the clearer cut hardcore team so when those weapons lower... the match is there's for the taking.

Prediction: Team Hogan

AJ Styles (c) vs D'Angelo Dinero- TNA World Heavyweight Championship

Another PPV comes along and yet again AJ Styles will defend his Heavyweight Championship. Nobody has been able to beat AJ Styles but many have come real close. Im sure D'Angelo Dinero would like to be the guy who finally knocks the king off his thrown but for him there is a guard in the way who wont let him in and that guard is Ric Flair. We saw him rob Kurt Angle at Genesis and just last week he interfered in Dinero's match. Ric Flair has not only been a reason for AJ Styles successful title defenses but he also to much to deal with if your the #1 contender.

But the biggest thing when it comes to Lockdown is that the Flair factor will be completely isolated! When the cage door closes and locks, there will be no getting in for Flair and unless he plans on climbing the cage in his wheelchair then AJ Styles will be alone for this one. This means that D'Angelo Dinero better give it all he has because it could be a while before somebody gets a match against Styles where Flair isnt involved. In the end, I cant see this championship reign ending to Dinero so im taking Styles to retain his title in the main event. Dinero showed he is a force to be wrecking with when he won the 8 Card Stud Tournament but now reality sets in and I just think that Styles has more of an edge in this one.

Prediction: AJ Styles

Nice predictions, but I predict that this ppv wont deliver mostly because after almost 4 months of promoting, on paper, this card looks good. But probably after the show is over, ill probably be let down.

TNA needs a overhaul, and fast. Get someone who actually KNOWS what their doing to run TNA, not Carter.
