Monday Night Raw!! May 12 2008

Welcome once again to the second edition of Chilling With Winters; After some bad and good reviews I have taken the chance up to read the reader's comments and try to do my best to make my writings better. Hope you enjoy;

We start off with your King, William Regal. I thought that the opening promo was very good and that Regal is really clicking with this evil empire thing. Mickie James eventually came out after Regal said he was going to throw two fans out, Mickie's brother and his girlfriend.

Eventually, John Cena came out and I had some epic lulz at the WCW pops. I would love to see Regal and Cena eventually get into a feud after Cena is done with JBL. I think the intensity would be amazing just off the mic work of these guys and it could finally put William Regal into the spotlight of the Main Event Scene.

~First Match~

Rhodes and Holly Vs. Sanlito;

We also have a special guest in Roddy Piper! This match had some good back and forth action before Piper distracted Santino and Rhodes hit the DDT for the win. This match seemed fairly short for a title contest and I'm hoping that a PPV bout for the titles wont be as short.

~Second Match~

Ken Kennedy Vs. Snitsky;

Snitsky started beating on the loudmouth superstar before Kennedy tried to fight back only to get knocked back down for his efforts. Snitsky eventually missed the leg drop and Kennedy started to fight back and gain momentum before hitting the Mic Check and picking up the win.

Off Match Notes-What direction are they going with both Snitsky and Kennedy? They put Snitsky, a guy who dominated on ECW into jobber matches against guys who are smaller than him. I think they should move him back to ECW. He fits more into that style and he doesnt really belong on Raw.

And Kennedy. I don't think the WWE knows what to do with Kennedy at this moment. His feud with Regal went nowhere and he got put into a very short match. If they want to get him into a good feud and move him to the next level, they should atleast get him in a match long enough for him to showcase his talents.

~Backstage Segments~

We see Santino going crazy after Piper cost him the tag titles. I would like to see where they go with this feud and maybe they will go as far as bringing in a heel legend to team up with Sanlito for a 3 Vs. 3 tag match.

We cut to another backstage segment where John Cena gets asked out by Mickie James. Didn't this same storyline happen a couple years ago with Cena and Maria before the WWE just dropped it completely?

~Third Match~

Beth Phoenix & Melina v. Mickie James & Maria;

Melina and Maria lock horns as we get this Diva's Tag Team Match underway. Mickie and Maria did some nice double team moves as the Face team took the early advantage. Melina started to fight back but the Glamazon left her hanging and Melina eventually got pinned.

~Another Segment~

Chris Jericho comes to the ring for a promo in the ring. He talked about HBK's "injury" at Backlash and how people believed Shawn was legit injured. He also said that he had changed his mind and also believed that Shawny boy was injured.

HBK's music hits and he heads to the ring. Shawn came out and said that he faked the injury. Jericho eventually didnt believe him until HBK layed Jericho out with some sweet chin music and walked his back to the back.

Segment Thoughts-Love this feud right now. I'm hoping that the chemistry that these two are showing right now will turn into a great match at Judgement Day.

~Segment/Match~

Jeff Hardy has officially returned to Raw! His music hits and he heads to the ring to a nice pop. He talks about how he made a mistake before King Regal comes out and books Jeff Hardy for a match....against Umaga!

Hardy went big risk and launched himself onto Umaga. Umaga fought back early and slammed Hardy into the barricade on the outside. Both men are back in the ring as Umaga begins to dominate Hardy. Umaga goes to the second turnbuckle and leaps off hitting a high risk head butt.

Umaga continues to beat on Hardy until he eventually sets up for The Running Butt Bump Of Doom! Umaga misses and Hardy leaps off the turnbuckle and nails Whisper In The Wind for the 1, 2, 3!

~Fifth Match~

Cryme Tyme v. Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch;

Cade and JTG fought in the beginning of the match going back and forth for awhile. Cade eventually hit a nice Elbow Smash and tagged in Murdoch. Shad got tagged in and hit a nice shoulder block and a body slam. He nailed Cade and JTG hit a pretty nifty roll up for a two,

Murdoch fought back and nailed a big boot to mount the comback. JTG went for a sunset flip before Murcoch countered and picked up the big win for his tag team. Murdoch begins to sing when suddenly Cade punches him in the face!

After Match Thoughts-Hoping that this means the end of this tag team; I hope Cade gets a decent singles push and can show up somewhere in the higher midcard area by the end of the summer.

!Backstage Segment!

Melina confronted The Glamazon Beth Phoenix, before the two eventually began to fight. This lead to Beth laying down a brutal beating on Melina and showing her true dominance.

!Main Event Time Baby!

Randy Orton Vs. John "Superman" Cena;

These two men fought back and forth early in the match with the highlight being Cena's nice bulldog. Cena started to beat on Orton hitting suplexes and big boots. Orton started to fight back and hit a nice backbreaker for two. Orton kept knocking on Cena and getting some huge heel heat.

Cena tried to fight back of a headlock but got bodyslammed for his efforts. Cena tried once again to fight back but this time he succeded. JBL ran out in a referee shirt before Cena attacked him and got layed out with a big boot giving Orton the easy win.

After the match the heels begin to beat on Cena before HHH eventually makes the save. JBL and Cena fight to the back as Orton and HHH start fighting before a steel cage drops. HHH threw Orton through the steel cage door and stood tall as the WWE Champion.

Judgement Day Picks:

HHH Vs. Randy Orton(Steel Cage)

My Pick: HHH; I think HHH will win just because he had just won the WWE Title and I don't think they would take the title off of him this soon.

Miz and Morrison Vs. Kane and CM Punk(WWE Tag Team Titles)

My Pick: Kane and CM Punk; I think they will have the face team pick up the win to further build CM Punk's MITB win. I think they will have them fight to defend the titles every time and Punk will always carry his case down and look at Kane before leaving the ring.

Undertaker Vs. Edge(World Heavyweight Championship)

My Pick: Edge; Why would they strip Taker of the title a couple of weeks ago only to give it right back to him?

Mickie James Vs. Melina Vs. Beth(Women's Championship)

My Pick: Mickie James; I think Melina might turn Face here and turn on Beth to help Mickie retain the title and put Melina and Beth into a feud.

JBL Vs. John Cena

My Pick: John Cena; JBL got the last laugh after screwing Cena over on Raw. They will have Cena win so that he can say he overcame the odds and such.

Jericho Vs. HBK

My Pick: Jericho; HBK has layed Jericho out with SCM and Jericho hasnt got any offence back in on him. I think Shawn will fake another injury and go for the Music only for Chris to dodge it and hit the codebreaker for the win.

See my comment last week, I don't think you really changed that much.

Anyways, I wouldn't necessarily say Kennedy's feud with Regal is over, they've had one week with no contact and haven't wrestled each other yet. More to come from them.

Thanks for the recap, I missed about half of Raw this week.

No HBK will win for sure. I mean jericho will do good but they arent gonna make HBK lose to someone like him. And I think Mickie James will win the title. They wont take it from her so fast.

It was pretty obvious that HBK was faking. In the match where he was "injured", it was his right leg that he landed awkwardly on. But, every time you saw him afterwards, he was favouring his left. Too frickin' obvious.

This week was a little better than last week.....still need to add just a little more detail into the match results. I saw most of the show this week, but remember....a lot of people who read this saw none of it. Like.....what lead to Beth walking out on Melina during the match, then the backstage fight later? Also, you didn't mention that HHH stood tall ON the cage after throwing Orton thru the side of it(not the door), and that Cade punched Murdoch AFTER asking him to sing their "victory song". Just need a little more detail in it, ya know?
Only prediction I disagree with is Edge winning. 'Taker will be likely be champion until sometime before next Wrestlemania......stripping him of it was likely just a way to have him "adapt" by introducing a new devastating submission hold or finisher at Judgemant Day to win it back.

I watched most of RAW, a couple of things:

1. Snitsky's being shown as a beast.
2. Kennedy was shown as he can handle almost anybody.
3. Wait, wasn't Roddy Piper a heel legend back in his day?
4. What did she get pinned with? Need some detail, because I can't recall.
5. You missed Regal cutting off Jeff's microphone, which to me shows Regal doesn't give a about respect.
6. Murdoch countered into what? A roll-up?
7. You missed the world's fastest 3 count by JBL, which ranks as my favorite moment of the week. I don't care what happens on Smackdown.

Work on it man. You're like Mike Adamle, in a good way. You've learning how to swing the bat, now you need to connect with the ball.

Taker won't win. Vince stripped Taker of the title because, and I quote: "UndertakerÂ© vs Edge isn't a big money match for PPVs".

They say Taker makes a better challenger than champion. Look for Umaga to show up on the Title scene on SmackDown! soon.

Also, Kenedy's feud with Regal is only going to propell him into the title picture with HHH or Randy Orton after that feud is done. At least, it should, since both men are taking vacations soon for their upcoming childrens' births.

Also, I think a MVP/Umaga feud for the WHC would be fresh, and fun to get into until the WWE books it wrong and kills it by over doing it repeatedly. That's my prediction coming out of Judgment Day: Edge wins the title, MVP challenges and takes it from him, then feuds with Umaga as he arrives on the scene. As for Cena, I'm looking forward to watching him job out to JBL so JBL can make another run at the title against HHH. Hopefully, if such a feud develops, it will be good. HHH and JBL are both decent workers at worst.

My two cents. Sorry if my breaking kayfabe upsets any of you.

Here are my picks for Judgment Day, let's see who gets the closest...

HHH vs Orton: HHH will win (Because he always wins because he's married to Steph.)

Undertaker vs Edge: Hard call, but Edge is my pick.

Y2J vs HBK: Jericho is on a bit of a losing streak, and I don't see him ending it on HBK... HBK wins.

Cena vs JBL: JBL will win (Just a feeling.)

Punk and Kane vs Morrison and Miz: Miz and Morrison will retain (Probably by DQ.)

Women's title match: Mickie James will win when Melina and Beth Phoenix start killing each other.
