No Mercy

Triple H Vs Umaga

The matchup between Triple H and Umaga at No Mercy was set up by Mr. McMahon out of revenge for The Game's repeated humiliation of the Chairman. However, the Samoan Bulldozer needs very little motivation for this battle.
Last month, The Game sent a message to everyone when he did what no one else had done before he bloodied and brutalized Umaga and put him on the shelf. Triple H made the seemingly indestructible Samoan Bulldozer look very human when he cracked open his head and knocked him out with a sledgehammer.

Umaga and Carlito had attempted to injure the 10-time World Champion during a Handicap Match on Raw, but the Cerebral Assassin was hell-bent on not being sidelined again. He held up the crimson-soaked face of an unconscious Samoan Bulldozer for everyone to see. Triple H’s message was clear: “I am The King of Kings, and I am back and better than ever.”

Though he is perceived as primitive, Umaga had to have been humiliated by the beating. He has had weeks to salivate over thought of getting revenge on the man who hurt him like no one else has. Umaga will be out for Triple H’s blood at No Mercy. He will not rest until he sees The Game’s head resting on a spike.

As for Triple H, he has never met a challenge he didn’t like, and the Samoan Bulldozer could present one of the biggest of them all. The Game has been focused and driven since his return from injury at SummerSlam. Conquering Umaga would his biggest victories since his comeback so far. Both Triple H and Umaga believe they have something to prove at No Mercy. And these two Superstars can be very dangerous when they are driven. One thing is sure when they collide: They will have no mercy on each other.

Batista Vs The Great Khali

Punjabi Prison Match for the World Heavyweight Championship

Through his translator Ranjin Singh, former champion The Great Khali has exercised his rematch clause for the World Heavyweight Championship. The match has been made by General Manager Theodore Long a Punjabi Prison Match at No Mercy on Sunday.

The Punjab Giant will look to rebound from his defeat in the Triple Threat Match at Unforgiven, a match which saw Batista’s odyssey to the top of the SmackDown mountain finally capped with gold. But now, Batista faces his first major test since claiming the title from the more than 7-foot monster Khali, in one of the most brutal matches in WWE history.

Will Batista’s reign as champion be short-lived, or will The Animal be able to defeat The Great Khali in the confines of the bamboo-surrounded ring? The bigger question is, can the Punjabi Prison contain the hatred between Khali and Batista?

WWE Championship Match

No Mercy will represent the end of an era for John Cena and the beginning of a new one for one Superstar as a new WWE Champion will be crowned.

For more than a year, John Cena proudly held the WWE Championship. He turned back all challengers, but an injury brought an end to his nearly 13-month title reign. Cena suffered a complete tear of his right pectoral tendon during a match on Raw. Because of the seriousness of the injury, WWE officials will not allow Cena to compete in his scheduled Last Man Standing Match with Randy Orton at No Mercy, and he had no choice but to surrender the title. With Cena sidelined for six months to a year, Mr. McMahon was forced to vacate the WWE Championship, setting the stage for history to be made at No Mercy.

Cena’s injury represents a new opportunity for several WWE Superstars. Orton has shown that he will do anything for the WWE Championship. Mr. Kennedy has long said that he is the future of WWE and believes he has a point to prove. And what about Intercontinental Champion Jeff Hardy, who has received very few WWE Championship opportunities in his career? Or does Cena’s injury represent a new opportunity for a Superstar who is not a member of the Raw locker room?

Details at this time are unclear. One thing is certain, however: There will be a WWE Championship Match this Sunday at No Mercy, and a new WWE Champion will be crowned.

Who will be the next WWE Champion? The only way to find out is to catch No Mercy

Finlay vs. Rey Mysterio

For Rey Mysterio, what started as a war of words with SmackDown commentator John Bradshaw Layfield turned into a series of cheap attacks by Finlay. In recent weeks, JBL’s disparaging remarks, fueled by his hatred for Mysterio, who last year forced the one-time “Wrestling God” into retirement, have served only to incite the masked Master of the 619, while the Irishman who loves to fight has provided the smackin’ behind JBL’s yakkin’.

As a result of the persistent sneak attacks, Vickie Guerrero, wasting no time in making her mark as SmackDown’s Acting General Manager, announced that Finlay will face Rey Mysterio in the ring at No Mercy. No more talking, no more foreign objects or surprises. When the masked Superstar and the Irishman battle one-on-one at the pay-per-view, they’ll do so on a level playing field. And Rey will have twice as much motivation to overcome a relentless brawler like Finlay, as doing so might also shut JBL up in the process.

Candice Michelle vs. Beth Phoenix (Women's Championship Match)

Last month at Unforgiven, Beth Phoenix thought she had the Women’s Championship won. Heavily favored going into her title match with Candice Michelle, the powerful Glamazon dominated the Women’s Champion. But just as Candice appeared to be on the verge of defeat, she shocked Beth, by rolling up her and eking out a three-count.

At No Mercy, Candice and Beth will battle again for the Women’s Championship, and both will have something to prove.
Beth Phoenix was embarrassed by her defeat at Unforgiven. The Women’s Division had not seen a Diva of Beth’s strength, skill and beauty in many years. The Glamazon, along with many experts, believed that she would easily woman-handle Candice for the Women’s Championship. However, she underestimated Candice and the Women’s Champion left her red-faced with rage.
Since Unforgiven, Beth has pinned Candice during a Mixed Tag Team Match on Raw and has appeared more focused and hungrier than ever. In her mind, she has to defeat the Women’s Champion this time at No Mercy, or she may be dismissed as just a pretty, albeit muscular, face who can’t win under pressure.
For Women’s Champion Candice Michelle, No Mercy represents a chance to silence some skeptics who believe she got lucky the first time. She has dealt with narrow-minded so-called “experts” all year who easily dismiss her transition from cover girl to Women’s Champion. She has always believed in herself when no one else does. That never-say-die attitude brought her the Women’s Championship and enabled her to defeat Beth Phoenix last month. And it may bring her victory again at No Mercy.

It’s the Glamazon versus the Women’s Champion, Part II at No Mercy, and both have a lot to prove. Who will leave No Mercy with gold around her beautiful waist?
