Not Your Average Diva's

    Now, if your like me you probably enjoy nothing more than putting your feet up with a nice cold beer and watching some women beat the living snot out of each other? Sound like fun? Well unfortunately due to the WWE only employing glamour models and ruining their semi-talented females with boob jobs, this isnt as easy to do these days.
Going back a few years though, the WWE did have a nice womans division. You had Trish Stratus, Lita, Molly Holly, Victoria etc, all of which could put on some quite entertaining matches. Then some dimwit decided to do the Diva Search and we had all these no-talent bimbos coming through instead, which were then shoved down our throats.
Fortunately for us, there is quite alot of very talented female wrestlers out and about on the Indy circuit. Even TNA with its "Knockouts" division seems quite promising with additions such as Payton Banks, ODB, Cheerleader Melissa, Awesome Kong and Roxxi Levaux, all of which have amazing talent and skills between them.
However for some of us, me included, this just isnt enough. So you have to dig deeper to find more female wrestling. Yes some of it is complete and utter trash, but believe me there is some good stuff out there.

    Probably the most well known all female wrestling company in the U.S would be Shimmer Women Athletes (or just Shimmer for short). They have been only running since 2005 and only put on four or so shows a year, but they seem to be THE premier federation for womens wrestling. They are run by Dave Prazak (ROH commentator) and Alison Danger, who put on some awesome shows. At each show is a double recording for their DVD's, which are then sold via ROH's website as seperate volumes. Also because of Prazak's involvement with ROH, the majority of the Shimmer roster also fight at ROH under the "Women Of Honor" banner.

    Recently Shimmer crowned its first Champion with a two night tournament in June 2007, with Sara Del Ray being the first and still current hold of this title. Because of their working agreement with ROH, the Shimmer title has also been defended on the ROH shows.

    Alot of the women currently on TNA's books have been through Shimmers doors with some of them still on the roster and ready for the upcoming shows this year. Hopefully they may grow in the near future and put on shows more often. I would personally highly reccomend to track down some of their DVD's or to even watch the matches they have put on at the ROH shows. From watching Shimmer I have come across some very very talented female wrestlers such as Cheerleader Melissa, Lacey, Rain (Peyton Banks), Daizee Haze, Ms.Chif and many more.

    Next up would be IWA:MS, now they are not an all-female promotion but they have quite a good variety of female workers. Also they have put on various tournaments throughout the past few years, such as "Volcano Girls" which was to determine the first IWA:MS womens champion (which was won by Lacey) and the annual "Queen Of The Deathmatch" tournament which is actually quite brutal to watch. The 2007 final between LuFisto and Mickie Knuckles is probably one of the most brutal female matches Ive ever seen, especially when lighttubes, light bulbs and barbed wire is involved.

    As you may have guessed, the IWA:MS womens roster is more hardcore and ultra-violent based, with Mickie Knuckles probably the "poster-girl" of the division. She is owner Ian Rotten's pet project, fights against the men in the roster and 99.9% of the time ends up head to toe in her own blood. Although from watching her, I deffinately wouldnt want to be caught by any of her punches or headbutts.

    Next we go in a slightly different direction, where we find RingDivas who started up in 2004. Like Shimmer, RingDivas is an all female promotion, however there is one major difference. RingDivas is NOT just wrestling, in fact they have four different brands under the RingDivas name. Battle Angels Wrestling is more a submission based wrestling roster, with alot of exclusively signed females to their roster. Fight Girls Wrestling is more power and technical based wrestling, offering a high impact of entertainment and in-ring drama.
Erotic Championship Wrestling is your more adult themed roster, with most matches featuring women in oil, bikini's, mud and other such things that may take your fancy, if your into that sort of thing.
And finally there is the Knockout Angels, which features Boxing and MMA matches between female competitors.
Unfortunately I have yet to see any of the RingDiva footage, although I have heard good things about them and that their MMA division is getting quite abit of attention recently with the rise of interest in the MMA world as a whole, so may be one to look out for in the future.

    So in conclusion, theres is deffinately some very talented females out there. Just dont let the trash in WWE distort you views on that and I hope some of you now will go out and find out about the various wrestlers and promotions I have mentioned above, believe me you will like what you see!

Listen not all felmales suck on WWE like Torrie Wilson she is a bit old but she does like umm good stripping moves or turnbuckle moves (I have seen here strip)

I agree with Chif. All WWE Divas are Playboy-worthy. Probably the only WWE Diva who can actually wrestle is Victoria. It would be nice to see WWE (for how bad they are these days) to hire some women wrestlers who aren't just 'eye-candy' and do some actual wrestling

Victoria isn't the only women in the WWE that can wrestle. Mickie James, Melina, Beth Phoenix, Jillian Hall, Katie Lea are also women with good Wrestling Skills. Layla, Michelle, Candice and Maria do a lot of Training and they become better and better in the Ring. Of course there are also women like Kelly Kelly and Lena Yada that have no Wrestling Skills. The WWE also has Nattie Neidhart in Development and I think she will debut on the Main Shows this Year.

So WWE has a good Women Division but they are more focused on T&A than real Wrestling.

beth phoenix and victoria are the only two divas that have a good finisher and know how to wrestle and know how to hang on to there championship especailly beth phoenix and she is incredible at wrestleing

Not all wrestlers need finishers. Its nice to see them do sumthing special like widows peak and such, but with the traditional wrestling styles, people like Mr Kennedy who until recently) didnt really have finishing moves are more fitting.

yes most of the divas on WWE cannot wrestle and some of them are trying to learn love them:P
I reckon the womens division would of been better if TRist and Lita still wrestled but as we know they can't go on forever lol :P
