Smackdown starts with a flashback off last week. We see what transpired last week. After the flash back the show starts with Vicky Guerrero. She comes out with edge by her side and Teddy Long is as always pushing her wheelchair. Why is not edge doing this I always ask myself? A real gentleman would push the wheelchair. Vicky starts to talk and says she is going to make a prepared statement. According to her the last seven days have been the hardest week for her in her life. She is saying she did not want strip the undertaker off the title but she had no choice. The big announcement she makes is that at judgement day the undertaker will compete for the world title but he is not allowed to use his chokehold. But there is also a opponent needed for the undertaker. She announces that there will be a championship chase for judgement day. The Winners of the championship chase matches will face each other in an over the top rope. And the winner of that match faces the undertaker at judgement day. The competitors are Matt Hardy, CM Punk, Finlay, MVP, Batista, Kane, Chavo Guerrero, Big Show, Tommy Dreamer and John Morrison. I have to give props to Vicky on playing her role. She generates a lot of heat and heat there was a lot of boooing!. (opening video) Micheal Cole and Mick Foley are talking and getting the show on the road. Foley says that the stripping was a slap in the face of the undertaker. The chokehold was not illegal to him and I have to agree with him. I do not get why the undertaker needed that move but hey it is legal. The championship chase to judgement day begins with Matt Hardy versus CM PUNK This is a rematch of the king of the ring tournament. The match starts Hardy locks Punks in armbar Punk tries to get out but does not succeed. Hardy keeps using his armbar Matt is forced to break the hold by Jimmy Cordair. After this Punk says something to Hardy but I could not hear exactly what. Matt goes for the armbar again Punk reacts with furious kicks. He launches Matt in the ropes and gives him a furious knee to the gut. Punk launches hardy into the turnbuckle and runs after him hardy dodges leaving punk on the top rope. Hardy picks up Punk in an electric chair. He climbs the turnbuckle Punk quickly gets up. Hardy reacts with a side effect on Punk. Tries a cover but punk kicks out in two. Both men stand up Hardy goes for the twist of fate but Punk pushes Hardy away into the ropes and follow up with a devastating knee. He picks up Hardy with a bulldog and tries a cover but gets a two count. Punk goes for a butterfly suplex. Hardy counters it in a jack knive cover. Matt keeps working on the arm of Punk. Punks goes for the GTS, Hardy counters, Hardy tries the twist of fate, Punk counters. Punk tries a roll up but Matt counters and steals the win. Matt advances into over the top rope main event, he walks out and says to Punk. I got you punk. Winner Mat Hardy by pinfall after 5 minutes 40 A good technical match. I think these guys could have done more if they were allowed more time. This match could have gone either way. They both did their best to get a good match going and it showed. I have to give this match 5,5/10 (Adds) Finlay vs. MVP The bell rings. Hornswoggle throws three tennis balls into the ring this distracts MVP. Finlay uses the distraction to plant a knee into MVP’s gut. They exchange blows Finlay uses a single leg take take down. On the ground Finlay tries some leg hold but MVP counters with blows to the head of Finlay. Both men get up, they lock arms Finlay backs MVP into the corner. The referee breaks them up. MVP takes Finlay down, they get up again Finlay back MVP up in the corner again. The referee breaks them up. Finlay kicks MVP in the gut, followed by another and pins MVP a quick two count and they get up again. MVP says to Finlay come on, Finlay responds with launching MVP in the corner. Finlay runs towards MVP but he dodges and Finlay hits nothing but the ring post. MVP gets Finlay on the ground and starts working on the left shoulders of Finlay to make him tap out. Finlay counters with a pin a gets a two count. Both men get up Finlay gave a clothesline to MVP with his injured shoulder. MVP responds with his devastating kick, kicking Finlay out of the ring. Hornswoggle walks towards Finlay looking worried. Finlay uses this distraction to club MVP into the neck. He tosses MVP back into the ring but MVP grabs one arm of Finlay and uses an arm drag to get Finlay down again. MVP tries an arm lock the crowd starts cheering for Finlay. They slowly get up again. MVP starts kicking but Finlay takes down MVP and applies a leg lock. MVP grabs the ropes, Finlay picks up MVP and body slams MVP with him landing with his feet into the ropes. Finlay applies a leg lock but MVP breaks the hold with a kick. Finlay picks MVP up again with another body slam. He applies another leg lock but MVP counters with arm lock. MVP grabs the ropes and they get up again. Finlay picks up MVP with a backsuplex and they end up in a draw because they both had the shoulders down for three seconds. Match result a draw after 10 minutes 20 seconds. I got to give credit to both these wrestler this match was not very fast paced but there was good technical wrestling. A lot of different holds applied, both men targeting weak spots. I did not like the result I would think this match deserved a winner. And what is up with new nick name of Finlay Fit Finlay what is that? Is he going to start a fitness centre or something? I have to give this match 6/10 Natalya vs Kelly Kelly Natalya powers Kelly down picks her up and Snap suplexes Kelly Kelly. Natalya picks Kelly up and powers her into the ring post. Natalyee messes up Kellys hair. Kelly throws some punches and Natalya. Nalaya does a back suplex and tries a pin and Kelly kicks out. Natalya applies a surfboard stretch but Kelly does not kick out. Kelly throws some punches. Natalya throws some punches and launches Kelly into the turnbuckle. Kelly gets on the turnbuckle but Natalya grabs her feet and drags her down. Natalya applies a sharpshooter and Kelly tabs out. Winner Natalya with a sharpshooter in 3 minutes 30 seconds Have to say Natalya at least makes this women match look like wrestling. Doing actual wrestling moves. Kelly really did 0 moves only some punches. There is a power difference but also a skill difference I think. Natalya does not look as hot as Kelly but hell she can wrestle. I would love to see Beth Phoenix vs Natalya. I have to give this match 4/10 (flash back to last weeks smackdown with some fan reactions) Vickie is shown backstage about the MVP vs Finlay draw. She made a decision about it, she says u could say they both lost or that they both won. She states that she would like to choose the positive and both men go ahead to the finals. Batista vs John Morrison John starts kicking at Batista. Batista starts laughing at John. John goes out of the ring and Batista climbs back in. John hits him in the face and runs out of the ring again. Batista follows john goes back in jumps over the top rope and kicks Batista in the face as he followed him back in. They exchange some blows outside get back in. John launches himself into the rope, Batista catches him and wants to power bomb him. But john dodges it and dropkicks Batista out of the ring. He launches Batista into the ring steps and kicks him on the apron. He tosses Batista back in and kick him into the jaw. Tries a cover and Batista kicks out in two. John applies a chokehold and Batista gets up and powers out. John ends up on the turnbuckle doing a dropkick from the top rope. He tries a pin again and Batista powers out. John hammers Batista and kicks him on the ground. Another pin 2,5. Morrison does red dancing leg drop and goes for another pin 2,5. Batista does a big back body drop. Batista launches John into the turnbuckle and follows him but ends up with a food in his head. Morrison climbs the turnbuckle and goes for his signature move. But Batista caught him with a spear and quickly he uses his Batista Bomb. Winner Batista with the Batista bomb in 9 minutes 43 seconds. Great match, John Morrison looked very good. A nice example of how a power wrestler versus quick wrestler can be worked out. With fast paces moves by John he could dodge the big man. But he could not avoid the spear. I have to give this match 6/10 (another flashback to last week) Big Show versus Tommy Dreamer Big pushes Dreamer into the ring post, gives dream a knee to the gut. Show launches dreamer into the ring post again. Show actually looks a bit bored, he allows dreamer to get up. Show runs towards dreamer, dreamer jumps up and show ends up with a food in his head. Dreamer climbs the turnbuckle hits show on the head, he tries exchanging blows with show. Show picks him up and choke slams dreamer and pins him. Winner Big show with a choke slam after 2 minutes 10 seconds A very one sided match but what can u expect if u look at the size difference. As I said show looked bored.I have to give this match 3/10 Kane versus Chavo Guerrero Chavo kicks kane, kane just pushed Chavo over. Chavo looks in the leg of Kane but Kane just powers him into corner of the ring. Kane throws two of his nice uppercuts I love the sound of those. Kane launches Chavo into the corner and runs towards Chavo. Chavo catches Kane with a shoulder block. Kane picks up poor little Chavo and lift him high above him. And slams him into the mat, Kane goes for the choke slam but he is near the rope so the ref breaks it. Kane tries a big boot but Chavo dodges it and Kane ends up with his leg stuck on the top rope. Chavo goes working on the leg of kane with kicks. He pulls Kane to the edge of the mat and positions Kanes foot on the edge and the jumps over the ropes and lands on Kane’s leg. Chavo distracts Kane and Boring Bam uses that moment to slam Kanes knee on the ring edge again. Chavo applies a bridge. Chavo gets up and climbs the turnbuckle. Kane gets up and Chavo lands a dropkick right in the face of Kane. Kane is looking confident but Kane sits up and Chavo actually looked scared. Guerrore launches himself into the ropes but gets a big boot planted in his face. Kane launches Chavo into the ropes and does a back body drop, followed by a back body drop. He goes for the side slam but Chavo dodges it and Guerrero climbs the turnbuckle again. But Kane catches him and goes for the choke slam Chavo counters and Chavo tries a sunset flip but Kane counters and picks up the win in 1,2,3. Boring Bam gets in again but gets fist in the face. Winner Kane by pinfall 8 minutes 34 seconds. I liked the match, specially the moment where Kane sat up and Chavo actually pretended to be scared. Good acting there. But the matches between Chavo and Kane are getting a bit old now. I have to give this match 4/10 Vladimir Kozlov versus Phil Atlas Vladi taunts Phil to bring it. Vladi uses a judo hold to get Phil to the ground. He locks in the arm of Phil on the ground. He launches Phil with a belly to belly suplex. He follows up with a high kick to the chest launching Phil into the turnbuckle. Vladi picks up Phil places him on the top rope and kicks him off. Vladi does his finisher on Phil Winner Vladi with his finisher in 1 minute 50 seconds Vladimir is a good wrestler and knows a lot of moves, he is a good technical wrestler. It was a nice show of power by the Russian. But overall a waste of air time in my opinion. Matchrating 2/10 (An add saying text us please) Main event over the top rope match (kane,mvp,batista,finlay,matt hardy and big show) A lot of action in the ring Batista goes for Kane, Finlay for MVP and Show battles Matt Hardy. MVP runs out of the ring. Show almost has Hardy out but Hardy manages to hang on. Finlay hits kane on the back of his head, Kane returns the favor with an uppercut. MVP runs back in and goes for big show but gets a head butted and he runs again. Kane and Batista go for Show but it does not work. Finlay tries to get Hardy out but Hardy counters and lift Finlay up and tries to get him out. Finlay clotheslines Hardy down. Show does a bigger clothesline on Finlay. Show picks up Matt and does his signature chop on matt. He turns to Kane, Kane uppercuts big show. Batista and Kane try to get Show out but they can’t do it. Show does his chop on Finlay, then does it on Batista. I love the sound his chop makes. Show goes for MVP but again MVP runs like scared little dog. He runs back in when show has his back turned to him and his show in the back. They again all go for big show but show is not going down willingly and he clotheslines everyone. He looks at MVP and he runs again. MVP waits till show has his back turned to him and again hits him in the back. Batista and Kane rush to the back and try to get show out but they fail again. Hardy does a side effect on Finlay and tries to do the twist of faith. But MVP rushes towards Matt and pushes Hardy out. Finlay is lying in the corner and MVP runs towards him kicks him in the face with his devastating kick. Big show stands in middle of the ring and lifts Finlay up. But Batista spears him. Finlay grabs his evil Irish stick and his everyone with it. But Kane wakes up and kicks him out of the ring with a big boot. Kane goes beating Batista in the corner and Big show goes to work on MVP. The two giants then go to work on each other. Kane starts unloading on Show. MVP goes for the big bad kick on Batista but Batista dodges it and he eliminates himself. Batista spear Kane right after and show clothesline Kane out of the ring. Batista and Big show are the finalists. Show is looking very confident. They exchange some punches but Show head butts Batista down. Show yells get up witch Batista does. Batista tries a clothesline but Show stands. Batista goes for the ropes and launches himself but ends up in shows arm with a big clothesline. Batista stands in the corner show runs towards him but Batista uses a baseball slide. He goes for the Batista bomb and show counters and lifts Batista up and tries to get him over the top rope. Batista has his legs around the neck of show and he pulls show over the top rope and picks up the victory. Batista picks up the win. But suddenly we hear some lady screaming Vicky Guerrero comes out with Teddie Long pushing here. She says: Wait, I have great news the championship chase is not over yet. And I got even greater news Edge has been cleared to compete so Batista you are facing Edge. Edge comes running out and spears Batista out of the ring. Edge advances to judgement day. Edge walks out of the ring and looks at the title it was displayed in a glass case and points at it. Suddenly it starts burning and we hear the undertakers theme song. Edge looks worried and runs off the stage.
It was one of the better smackdowns that we have seen this year. The matches overall were of good quality. We got to see almost all superstars in action like Big Show, Batista, MVP, Matt Hardy and CM Punk to just name a few. Vickie does a good job at stirring up the crowd and generating heat. The ending was quite lame in my opinion. Just one spear and Edge wins, it could at least been a small short fight. But for the story line this was better i guess. So my closing thoughts are that if smackdown keeps up this level we got a great things in store for ourselfs tumbs up. Views: 850

The whole Vickie in a wheelchair storyline played out long ago.......what reason is there for her to even be in it, other than the fact that she is a fat lazy cow? The Undertaker's choke hold has been used for 5 months with no problems, so it shouldn't have been a problem after helping him to win the title from Edge......oh, I almost forgot....it's a conspiracy that won't work to get Edge the title back. And Batista will be added to the whole equation tis Friday to make it a Triple threat. By the way......check the rule book. Choke holds ARE illegal in WWE.....but as I said, 'Taker has used it long enough without complaints that it SHOULD be legal for him to use.
