Stand Back, Theres A Fail Of A Show Coming Up! Ladies and Gents welcome back to this edition of Straight Blazin! We will be discussing the usual when we go over the ECW report from August 11th 2009. This week shows the week after Christian defeated Tommy Dreamer to stay ECW Champion. Also would be interesting to see how they continued the feuds they had been starting. So before we get into that lets take a quick look at UFC 101 results! -Crowd booing the whole time and immensely at first Show Grade D+ Show Review Too many squash matches.. Nothing REALLY happened.. Even a half solid main event cant save this one for me..
Anderson “Spider” Silva defeats Forrest Griffin in Round 1 Knockout
This match was hyped mainly because of Silva’s pure domination in the Middleweight division.. He moved up a weight class to fight the former Light Heavyweight champion in Forrest Griffin.. It was thought that Forrest’s explosiveness could counter Silva’s defense and the fact his last two fights he skirted around and didn’t do much offense and was criticized for them. So this match was supposed to have a lot of hype and potential and Silva showed why he’s arguably one of the best in the world. He disposed of Griffin so easy its not even funny. Forrest had to sneak out to avoid the embarrassment as Silva picked him apart, taunted him, and finished him with a back pedaling right hand shot to the jaw. Embarrassing loss for Griffin and impressive win for Silva.
BJ Penn defeats Kenny Florian by TKO/Submission in Fourth Round to retain his Lightweight title
BJ Penn, coming off being DESTROYED by Georges St Pierre, was looking to rebound and defend his Lightweight title successfully against the hard hitting and submission machine that is Ken Florian. Florian had looked amazingly impressive in his previous fights and was coming in with the momentum he would need. The fight was very good but BJ Penn was just too much for Florian. He fought as smart as ever and showed why he will be Lightweight champ for a long time. As soon as he got the hooks in the back of Florian it was all over because he locked in a rear naked choke and Florian had no choice but to tap out or get choked out. BJ Penn looks impressive and picks up the win over Florian..
ON WITH THE SHOW!!
Highlight package of the main event from last weeks ECW where we saw Christian retain the ECW title with a KillSwitch on a car door. The package is very well done and shows all the good spots from the match and makes the match look WAY better then it was honestly. Ends showing Christian holding his ECW title high and we get the opening music video!
To kick off the night we have Zach Ryders music hitting over the loudspeakers and he saunters out onto the stage and makes his way to the ring. They hype up the singing contest between Zach Ryder and Shelton Benjamin on the Abraham Washington show last week.. If you missed it I don’t blame you at all. But Shelton is out to a decent pop from the fans and he will be the clear face in this match as the two hook up and it begins!
The Canada crowd is hot and on their feet for this match as Shelton is laying some impressive basic offense in the beginning and the crowd is roaring behind him! Everytime Zach Ryder makes a move the crowd boos their heads off! Hot crowd in Canada and the match continues at a good pace with both superstars getting in a fair amount of offense. Seemingly out of nowhere and way too quick Shelton Benjamin hit’s the Pay Dirt and picks up the victory and the crowd ERUPTS for him!

Match Review
Too Short.. But it was a nice little opening match and the crowd was hot which always makes for a good match.
Next up is Gregory Helms interviewing Paul Burchill. Burchill tells Gregory Helms to go put his underwear back on and pretend to be a superhero while the big boy speaks. He goes on to tell Helms that its obvious that hes the Hurricane and that hes not fooling anyone. He then asks if Helms thinks hes stupid, In which helms replies, “I call them as I see them being a reporter”. Paul Burchill then attacks Gregory and goes and gets ready for his match with Yoshi Tatsu!
Commercial Break
Back from the commercial and making his way to the ring is Vladimir Kozlov! And apparently he is facing a hell of a undersized jobber in Kevin Brooks. This is going to go ONE way ladies and gentlemen.. Prepare for 45 seconds of pure mutilation. Meanwhile.. Lets see how we can fill 45 seconds of this match.. I guess you could try and watch Carlos Mencia do original comedy.. Watch an hour show and you should fill those 45 seconds nearly.. Maybe not so much though..
Meanwhile.. The crowd is chanting “You Cant Wrestle” to Vladimir Kozlov.. While I do love the Canada crowds for being a “hot” crowd.. I do dislike the smarkness of them sometimes.. They boo Kozlov accordingly when he wins and his hand is raised after “The Iron Curtain”

BOOOO
Out now is Ezekial Jackson.. AGAIN.. And now the two stare off like the last few weeks. Ezekial picks the jobber up and slams him down to the mat viciously and looks at Kozlov like “Waddup Punk” and then Kozlov picks up the jobber and nails the Iron Curtain again and Kozlov exit’s the ring as the crowd chants “One More Time” and we see the same thing for the third week in a row atleast. I wish they would either make these two feud or team them up and have them OWN everyone. The main event is apparently Tommy Dreamer v William Regal…
And up next, We get to see the promo from last nights Raw where HHH looks for HBK.. While a good promo, WHY IS ON ECW???
Commercial Break
Back from the commercial break.. And we get to see the DX promo that originally aired on Raw.. Now this promo is pretty damn good and its worth a look.. It has its comical moments without pushing the envelpope too far. It was epic to see HBK kick a little girl in the face and his boss in the face as him and HHH set their outfits on fire. I thought the WWE was rated PG? But seriously why is this being re-aired on ECW when we could have another match in this time slot or we could have a promo retaining to ECW.. Not showing a promo that aired the night before..
Next out is the special guest ring announcers.. Yeah that’s right.. For the next match The Bella Twins.. They have been SUCH an addition to ECW… They introduced Paul Burchill who is accompanied to the ring by Katie Lea and he is out to face Yoshi Tatsu who has looked impressive and had the fans backing for a few weeks now. So some theme music from the SNES plays and out comes Yoshi dancing around and hopping all around the entrance ramp.. And off we go!!
Paul Burchill works his style of match with some power hitting moves followed by a sound ground game which shows his technical abilities. Burchill has a variety of ways to attack you in the ring. Yoshi mounts an offensive attack back and some nice back and forth striking occurs. Just as the match is getting going Katie Lea trips up Yoshi and the ref calls for the bell and Yoshi wins by DQ

Match Review
Too short.. Just getting going and then it goes away..
After the match Burchill beats down Yoshi only to have “Stand Back, Theres a Hurricane Coming Through” and they look to the entrance way for Hurricane Helms and he comes flying off the top rope to aTHUNDEROUS ovation! He flying cross bodies Burchill and begins to beat down on him and then Burchill runs away and the crowd cheers as Hurricane and Yoshi shake hands.
Commerical Break
We are back and see what just happened before we went to commercial break. Burchill is back in the office of Tiffany where he is threatening her that if she doesn’t take care of this problem he will. She says she doesn’t respond well to threats and she will talk to him. He goes to argue and she lays down the law and for ONCE seems like an actual GM.. Amazing..
Tyler Reks is out next fighting a jobber.. For some reason there is two jobber matches tonight.. Oh joy? After watching a not so impressive match being as he should be fighting SOMEONE.. It is nice to see a Missle Dropkick as a finisher though.. Very impressive springboard missle dropkick. But besides that its just a typical jobber match and im unimpressed..

Give him a damn opponent..
Up next.. Abraham Washington Show?? RUNNNN!!!!
Abraham Washington Show Highlights
-Washington teases Hulk Hogan and says Happy Birthday to him..
-Christian gets one HELL of a reaction.. And rips on Abraham calling him Arsenio
-They show clips of last weeks main event again
-Christian says he will beat the crap out of Abraham Washington to a good chat response..
I think there was some other points.. I wasn’t paying much attention.. Sorry.. He bores me.. Not Christian.. But Abraham Washington does.. William Regal comes out and says he will face Christian for the title soon and to watch what hes gonna do to his “friend” Tommy Dreamer
Commercial Break
Dreamer v Regal is up next.. Dreamer gets a decent reaction from the fans and the match is underway quickly! Both of these wrestlers are known for being stiff and brutal and they pulled no punches at the start of the match. The match was honestly a SOLID 10 minute match that had some back and forth action. The end sequence showed William Regal picking up the win with his running knee shot to the head. Regal wins the match and becomes the number one contender!

Nice main event match but nothing spectacular.. Good wrestling from Regal and a good ending not seeing Dreamer/Christian VIII

Well the article was alright. I agree with you, having Dreamer and Christian in the main event actually became boring. Anyways Regal could get his title shot without the No.1 contendership match, couldn't he? I mean what was the point of the King of the Ring tournament? I was really hoping Miz would return to ECW but the Calgary Kid found a way to get a contract.
And what about Kozlov? Why doesn't he ever have a decent feud? WWE has many giants of his size. The creative team has to be on something. How can they show HBK kicking a 8 years old girl? And are they allowed to say 'Suck it' on a rated PG show? Even the DX taunt is too explicit for a rated PG show.
The bottom line? They shouldn't bring back DX in this era unless they want them to end it but I honestly doubt that.
PS : I watched a ladder match of yours from CZW ( couldn't help it, had to youtube his name as long as he claims to have wrestled in the indies xD )

I'm sorry Blaze, but I just can't get behind a show recap that only spends two lines summarizing every match instead of at least describing the ebb and flow. You and I are very much on the same page in terms of opinions, but it's still hard to read this because it's not got much substance as a recap.

Most excellent article Blaze, don't listen to Glide. ;)
2 jobber matches = 2x Auto-Fail. Reks looked good but his gimmick is still a Failure. I really like Kozlov but this is getting ridiculus. Enough of jobber bashing and E. Jackson dick size competitions every week.
Helms as superhero = Auto-Fail
No Goldust = Fail. Where, oh where, is our great golden one?
No Seamus = Success
Yoshi in a match = Success, although it wasn't much of a darned match. At least Katie was there being a bad girl. Burchill is still impressing me more every week.
A. Washington show = Auto-Fail. At least Christian called him out and threatened to beat him up. The crowd sure liked that idea!
DX Promo = Fail. We all watch RAW, don't we? QUIT WASTING THE ECW FANS TIME WITH LONG REPEAT CRAP THE NEXT DAY. We tune out. Thank you.
Main Event = Ho Hum but decent.
Lets see. 4 x Auto Fail. 2 x Fails. 2 x successes. 1 x Ho Hum. = The worst show in awhile. :(
