ECW is live in the New Jersey!!... I think.
Match #1: Matt Hardy vs Finlay (ECW Homecoming Qualifying Match)
Christian makes his way around the ring to do commentary.
I thought it was Hornswoggle, at first, but apparently it was Finlay… Teehee.
The match starts with the two men locking up. Finlay gets Hardy in a head lock and Hardy shoots Finlay off the ropes and Finlay hits a Shoulder Block. Finlay gets Hardy back in a head lock, and gets an arm lock and performs a takedown and puts his elbow into Hardy’s thigh. Hardy is back up and has Finlay’s head lock and Hardy is taken into the corner. The referee separates both of them. Finlay strikes Hardy in the gut with a kick, whips him into the corner and is met by an elbow. Hardy goes up, but Finlay pulls him off by the leg. Hardy seems hurt, and is favoring his knee. Finlay goes on to attack Hardy’s knee. Finlay with a Scoop Slam, making Hardy’s knee crash onto the ropes. More offense on the knee by Finlay. Hardy gets out of a submission hold by a boot to the face/arm. Finlay attempts a Slam but Hardy gets out of it and lands a Neckbreaker for a two. Hardy lands a few punches to Finlay, misses a clothesline and Finlay’s back on the offense. Finlay knocks Hardy down and gets a one count. Finlay knocks Hardy with a European Uppercut, and continues his offense on Hardy’s knee. Finlay moves towards Hardy, and is caught with a Drop Toe Hold against the ropes. Hardy back up and lands a Side Effect for a two. Finlay is back up and Hardy lands another Side Effect for another two. Hardy stalks Finlay and attempts a Twist of Fate. Finlay goes back to the corner and extends a boot to Hardy’s face. Finlay goes up but is pulled back down and Hardy gets a two. Hardy goes up top and attempts a nice Moonsault, but Finlay rolls out of the way. Finlay covers Hardy and gets a two count. Finlay slowly drags Hardy up by the hair, and Hardy suddenly lands a sloppy Twist of Fate for the win.
Matt Hardy qualifies for the ECW Homecoming!!
Segment Rating: C
Decent opening match, but it was nothing special.
Evan Bourne vs Mike Knox is hyped.
Segment #1: Backstage Altercation
Zack Ryder is walking backstage with Rosa, and they bump into Tommy Dreamer. Zack Ryder taunts Dreamer and asks “aren’t you sick and tired of embarrassing week in and week out? Why don’t you just hang it up?” Dreamer then responds that he is sick and tired of losing to guys like Ryder. Dreamer then challenges Ryder to a match with his career at stake.
Segment Rating: D
Just a short segment… Pretty much the same thing we see every week.
DID YOU KNOW?
Last Tuesday, ECW was once again SyFy’s #1 show.
Segment #2: In-Ring Taunt
Playback from two weeks ago is run.
Jackson begins by saying that he and Regal decided to get rid of Kozlov, who is described as a traitor, a weakling, and speaks of how Kozlov prevented their goal, which was to dominate ECW.
Kozlov slides in and Jackson attempts to attack him, but Kozlov retaliates and pushes Jackson out of the ring. Jackson escapes up the ramp while Kozlov taunts him.
Segment Rating: E
The segment was very weak. Short and poor.
Segment #3: Backstage Talk
Christian meets up with Tommy Dreamer in his locker room. Christian talks about Dreamer’s match with Ryder later on, and asks if he is sure about it. Dreamer explains his decision, and Christian confesses his love for Dreamer…
…
…
…
As a brother… Pssht.
Dreamer then says he still wants a rematch for the title. Christians answers him by telling him to beat Ryder, and he’s got it.
Segment Rating: E
Really, what’s with the short segments? This segment wasn’t very good to begin with, and I’m pretty sure it bombed the crowd.
Match #2: Evan Bourne vs “The Beard” Mike Knox (ECW Homecoming Qualifying Match)
Bourne’s only 183 lbs?
“People say Bourne was Bourne to fly, but was he Bourne to qualify?”
Just found that line cool.
Knox begins with a few blows to Bourne and smashes his head into the turnbuckle. Bourne lands a couple of low kicks, but Knox lifts Bourne up and puts him up on the ropes. Knox lands a few blows and Bourne pulls both of them out with a Rana-like move. Bourn tries to drag Knox back in, to no avail, and Knox tosses Bourne against the barricade. Bourne narrowly makes it back into the ring at the count of 9. Knox stomps on Bourne, picks him up and nails a big Clothesline for a two. Knox now with a sleeper locked in. Bourne up to his feet, lands some kicks but Knox strikes him a couple of times to stop his offense. Knox lifts Bourne up in a Suplex clutch, but Bourne lands a knee. Bourne with a couple of low kicks and lands a big knee to the jaw. Bourne runs off the ropes and Knox with a huge crossbody for the two. OUCH. Knox misses a knee drop, Bourne kicks him down and goes up to the top, but is crotched by Knox. Bourne attempts a DDT, but is caught by Knox and manages to get on the apron. Bourne with a massive high kick, and connects with an Air Bourne for the three.
Evan Bourne qualifies for the ECW Homecoming!!
Segment Rating: C+
It was pretty short, but solid. I like Bourne’s performances, and Knox did quite well to carry on.
Next week, Chavo Guerrero, Mark Henry and CM Punk return to ECW!!!
Segment #4: Backstage… Something.
Tiffany wishes Dreamer good luck and he makes his way to the ring.
Segment Rating: WTH WAS THAT???
Ugh. This doesn’t deserve a rating.
RAW Rebound is played.”The last image of RAW in 2009 is gonna be me standing over your battered, bruised body, holding my DOBYA DOBYA EEE CHAMPIONSHIP!!!”
Bret Hart as RAW’s Guest Host is hyped.
Segment #5: Teaching
Yoshi Tatsu attempts to teach Goldust some Japanese. Croft and Barreta mock them and Dreamer as well, Goldust gets pissed and suddenly spits out some Japanese words in rage. They walk off.
Segment Rating: D
Like every other segment in the show, it was nothing special at all.
Match #3: Tommy Dreamer vs Zack Ryder (w/ Rosa Mendes)
I like Zack Ryder’s music… And on-screen girlfriend <3
Ryder begins the match with a headlock takedown and Dreamer locks in a head scissors. Ryder gets out of it and Dreamer lands his own headlock takedown. Both men are back up, and Ryder shoots Dreamer off the ropes. Ryder lands a Hip Toss and misses an elbow drop. Dreamer with a Hip Toss and an arm drag into an arm lock. Ryder lands a forearm and some blows in the corner. Dreamer reverses an Irish whip and sends Ryder to the corner and lands a bulldog for a one count. Dreamer lands a shoulder block and whips Ryder off to the corner. Ryder leaps up, Dreamer catches him and lands an Oklahoma Slam for a two count. Dreamer locks Ryder in a Pump Handle clutch and lands a beautiful Pump Handle Suplex. Ryder goes outside, Dreamer runs off the apron and connects with a senton. Ryder is back up and uses Rosa as a shield. Ryder comes back and nails a punch and sends Dreamer face first into the corner.
Commercial break.
As we return from the break, we see Dreamer in an arm lock. Ryder slams Dreamer’s arm on the mant, lands a knee drop on Dreamer’s arm, and begins to attack Dreamer’s arm. Dreamer gets in another arm lock. Dreamer gets on his knee and smacks Ryder with a few blows. Dreamer whips Ryder off the ropes and misses a Clothesline. Ryder attempts a crossbody but is caught, but counters the counter for a two count. Ryder lands a few blows and taunts Dreamer. Dreamer’s head is smashed against the turnbuckle and is whipped, but Dreamer counters and Ryder is sent into the corner. Dreamer charges and misses turnbuckle spear, and Ryder lands a baseball slide. Ryder pulls Dreamer back into the ring and stomps on him a bit. Dreamer then dodges a facewash from Ryder, and ducks a punch from Ryder and lands a neckbreaker. Both men are back up, and Dreamer whips Ryder off the ropes and connects with a flapjack-kinda move. Dreamer whips Ryder off the ropes again and lands his Spinebuster followed by a cover on the nipple for the two count. Dreamer goes up for the top but Ryder lands a punch and catches Dreamer up there. Ryder goes up as well, and attempts a Superplex but is pushed off. Dreamer jumps off but Ryder catches him in the gut with a boot. Ryder attempts a Zack Attack but is countered and Dreamer gets a two count with a jackknife cover. Dreamer attempts a Sunset Flip, but Ryder sits down and gets a two, Dreamer rolls through and gets a two, Ryder again with a pin counter for a two, and Dreamer with another for a two. Ryder off the ropes and connects with a Roughryder for a close two. Ryder positions Dreamer and goes up the top. Dreamer stops him, and hangs him over. Dreamer is getting pumped up now, and lands a baseball slide – VINTAGE TOMMY DREAMER!!! Dreamer nails a big DDT and gets a three count!!
OH WAIT!!!
The referee sees Ryder’s foot was under the rope and the match continues!!! Ryder hangs onto the rope and Dreamer pulls him off. Dreamer off the ropes with a big elbow for a two, Ryder gets a reverses the pin for another two. Ryder picks Dreamer up and is smacked in the gut. Dreamer places Ryder on the tope rope, and attempts a High Angle Back Suplex but Ryder counters with a Crossbody!! One… Two… Three!!
Dreamer’s gone…
Segment Rating: B+
Solid, entertaining match by both the superstars. Personally, I liked this match very much, although I preferred the Yoshi Tatsu vs Jack Swagger match last week. This match was too close to call, and if I didn’t know that Dreamer was leaving (not only by reading the news but also from those big mouths on YouTube on the comment box…), I would never have guessed the result. The match was very nicely done, not too sloppy, both men did a very good job of keeping the match good.
Segment #6: Farewell
The fans applaud Dreamer for his performance and his career, probably. Dreamer begins by talking about his first time in the Izod Center (and even remembered his seat number). He saw Rowdy Roddy Piper doing a live Piper’s Pit. Dreamer goes on to thank everyone from the original ECW and the new ECW. He states that that wrestling was his dream since he was 9 years old. Apparently, Dreamer also promised that he wouldn’t cry so much. He claims that he’s always considered the WWE Universe as his family. He then speaks of his daughters in kindergarten and how they said that he fell down a lot and always got up. Dreamer is flooded with big rounds of applause and chants of “ECW”. He removes his ECW shirt and places it on the ring, then picks up his daughters from the crowd and leaves the ring with his music playing one last time.
Happy New Year, Tommy.
Show Rating: D-
It hurts me to give ECW such a low rating.
But really, the segments SUCKED. The matches were pretty decent though.
I have not much to say this week, except to wish a Happy New Year to you all.
For those still in 2009, greetings from the future.
MUHUHAHAHAHA.
I’m off to shower now. My stench is killing my household. Ta.

First off may I say this was a great article. Second It's WWECW. This version is a poor quality in compairson. Now that i pointed that out on to Three. Its a sad day to see Tommy Dreamer leave a poor excuse for a show calling it self ECW. We can only hope by monday he is working for TNA. Or like it should to be reffered to now as WCW 2.0! Sorry if this insulted any one or hurt there feelings. Just had to say it. Once again great article. I agree with the rating of the show. It could have been better with some more thought into there segments.

I've always thought of WWECW as a sort of televised OVW/CWF. You get to see new talent before they're thrown into the big leagues. It's understandable that seamus and bourne and swagger went on to Raw. they were done in the smaller show and ready to join the main roster. Pretty soon we may see Vance Archer, Croft and Berreta, or even Yoshi Tatsu step up to smackdown or raw, and the next developmental talent ready for world wide audiences to see him (or her) will step up and make their WWECW debut.
and original ECW was crap, only good stars were taz and rvd.

ECW just can't be reborn anymore.
There are some good young talents though.
