The Master's Dojo: Wrestlemania Picks |
 |
|
Hello ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to another fantastic edition of The Master’s Dojo!! In this issue, I will go over my picks for the biggest event in sports entertainment, WrestleMania, and I have a quick hit on a very controversial subject. Well then, let’s get it on!! I’ll start out with the Divas and the 25 Diva “Ms. WrestleMania” Battle Royal. Is there are clear favorite? No. Of the current, sure to perform women performing, I’d love to see either Michelle or Kelly, but in a perfect world, I’d like to see either Trish Stratus or Lita return to win. I’m pretty sure that Lita denied the invitation, and I’m not sure about Trish, so I’ll just go by Divas sure to appear. And, with that being said, I guess my pick would be… Kelly Kelly
Next, the Chris Jericho vs. the Legends match. I’ll quickly go over the storyline. It all started when Mickey Rourke (star of “The Wrestler”) called out Y2J. Jericho then started to call out legends of WWE, notable “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and Ric Flair. And the conflict between he and the Legends has escalated in the past few weeks. He (Jericho) challenged “Super Fly” Jimmy Snuka, Roddy Piper and Ricky “the Dragon” Steamboat to a match at WrestleMania. And it was announced by the Nature Boy himself on the March 23rd edition of RAW, that even though he is retired, he’ll be in the corner of the Legends. Now, common sense tells you “It doesn’t matter if there are 3 of them; the old guys have no shot against a still fairly young Y2J”. However, common sense doesn’t always apply, especially on the biggest stage of all, where anything is possible. I know that it is pretty predictable, but I am picking… The Legends (and…Stone Cold comes in at the end to celebrate with the Legends, then gives Jericho a Stunner, for old times sake) Of course, there is the Brother vs. Brother Extreme Rules match between Matt and Jeff Hardy. After stabbing Jeff in the back at the Royal Rumble by costing him the WWE Championship, Matt turned heel, moved to Smackdown and has been feuding with Jeff ever since. At first, Jeff refused to face Matt, but now it is going to happen. I think that this will turn out to be a good match. Two guys who have made a living out of being crazy, risk taking and of course, extreme. I am predicting a lot of top rope action and plenty of weapons. In the end In the end, I believe that the more extreme man will prevail. That man, in my opinion, is… Jeff Hardy
Now, the Intercontinental Championship match between John “Bradshaw” Layfield and Rey Mysterio. JBL has been saying over the last few weeks that he is going to make history at WrestleMania. Now, there have been reports that JBL is considering retirement, and that is the only thing I can think of that he would do at WrestleMania. Nobody has retired with a title since Trish Stratus retired as Women’s Champion back in 2006. He’ll be taking on the high flying, risk taking, always exciting Rey Mysterio, who has had success at WrestleMania before. Back at WrestleMania 22, Rey became the World Heavyweight Champion by defeating Orton and Angle in a Triple Threat match. This pick may surprise you, but I am going to pick the Longhorn Loudmouth… JBL
Next up, the Tag Team Championship unification match between The Miz and Morrison and the Colons. The winners of this match will win both titles, unifying them, thus creating just one Tag Team title. I like to watch the Colons, they are pretty exciting to watch. I have the fear that Morrison is never going to get the push he really deserves, and his whole career he’ll challenging for the Tag Titles. Now, I personally think Miz is unworthy of fighting with Morrison, and if it wasn’t for John, the Miz should not and would not have any career. He’s just plain out bad. I haven’t seen any real skills coming from him. So for me, this match was a toss-up. But then I thought that John Morrison is just too good. I think that they’ll continue to feud with the Colons, but for now, I think that they hold the advantage. Expect to see some Bella Twins action, and that the new WWE World Tag Team Champions (mix of the 2 names) will be… The Miz and Morrison (with Nikki Bella)
Next is this year’s streak match, between Mr. WrestleMania Shawn Michaels and the man who is undefeated on the grandest stage of all, the Undertaker. If I could have had my way, this match would be for one of the World Titles, because these two legends deserve one last (or maybe more than 1) title shot. I mean, these are two of the best wrestlers ever, arguably THE best. I love both of these guys. Undertaker has the streak though, and I don’t think that Shawn Michaels is going to break it. If anyone would, it would be HBK, but I just don’t think that it will happen. I picked Undertaker at the Royal Rumble, and I was wrong. I picked Undertaker in the Elimination Chamber at No Way Out, and I was wrong. I hope that I am not wrong this time. Sorry Shawn, but at the WrestleMania, it is not going to be your night. My pick is… The Undertaker
Next is the most exciting match at WrestleMania every year (in my opinion), the Money in the Bank Ladder Match!! The competitors this year are Finlay, Mark Henry, Kane, Shelton Benjamin, CM Punk (the reigning MITB Champion), Christian, United States Champion M.V.P. and Kofi Kingston. All of these men have held at least one title, and most have had experience in the MITB Ladder Match before (Just a quick note, the winners of this match have been Edge, Rob Van Dam, Mr. Kennedy (then lost it to Edge) and CM Punk). I’m going to use process of elimination to choose my winner. First out is the fattest er sweatiest er strongest man in the ring, Mark Henry. I just don’t see him winning a Ladder Match, especially with 7 other men in the same match. Then I think Shelton and M.V.P. will take each other pretty much out of the match, leaving me with Kane, Kofi, Christian, Finlay and Punk. For whatever reason, WWE just doesn’t want to push Finlay, so I don’t think he’ll be winning (even though I’m a fan of his). Next I’ll take Christian out of this, because I don’t see him challenging for a World Championship right now, I think that he should be involved with Bourne and Swagger for the ECW title. Then I have to take out my hometown boy, CM Punk, because even though I love this guy, I don’t particularly want to see him win twice in a row. That leaves me with just Kane and Kofi Kingston. Oh my god, I had a really hard time choosing between these two. Kofi is the future, and I think that he has tons of potential. Kane just doesn’t seem to be getting any title opportunities or even any storylines recently. In the end, my pick as winner of the Money in the Bank Ladder Match is… Kofi Kingston
Now for the World Heavyweight Championship Triple Threat Match between The Big Show, John Cena and the Rated-R Superstar (and current champion). I just don’t see Big Show as the Champion, I just try to picture him with the title, but I don’t see it. I can see it with the others, but not him. Sorry Show, maybe some other time. Now for John Cena. I’ve gone over my opinion of Cena. I don’t think that he is the greatest ever, or that he deserves all the hype, but I am not one of the people who make all these stupid comments about him, talking about how he has “no skills” and other garbage. Look he has some skills, but are they enough to win a Triple Threat with the World’s Largest Athlete and Edge? I don’t know. And what about Edge? He is not even close to one of my favorites, but he is a really good wrestler. He has visibly good skills, but again, are they enough to win this Triple Threat? To me, this came up to a toss-up of sorts between Edge and Cena. I decided to go with the homer and and the pick that will probably catch me a ton of flak… John Cena
Now the WWE Championship match between Triple H and Royal Rumble winner Randy Orton. For weeks, Helmsley has been on RAW, pretty much terrorizing Legacy and wreaking havoc. He threw a sledgehammer and Orton limo, he “broke into” Orton’s “home”, and then beat the crap out of Cody Rhodes inside if a Steel Cage, plus Orton RKO’d Stephanie, and kissed her on the lips, and now the rivalry of the 2 Evolution members culminates at WrestleMania. Two of WWE’s biggest superstars and two probable (well, one definitely, one probably) Hall of Famers, going for the most prized title in the business. I think that Triple H is going to win. Why? Because he is arguably the biggest star in the company, he hasn’t won at WrestleMania is a while, and I just think that he’ll beat Randy Orton. So my pick for the WWE Championship match is… Triple H
Now I have a take on a very controversial topic. Should Chris Benoit be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame? Many say yes, many say no. Let’s go over his career. A one time ECW World Tag Team Champion, two time WCW United States and Tag Team Champion, one time WCW Heavyweight Champion, three time WCW Television Champion, one time WWE Tag Team Champion, two time World Tag Team Champion, three time WWE United States Champion, four time Intercontinental Champion, 2004 Royal Rumble winner and one time World Heavyweight Champion. But let’s look at what he did outside the ring, in 2007 to be exact. He committed a double murder-suicide. He killed his wife, Nancy, his son, Daniel, and then himself. But this is one black mark (a big black mark, but nonetheless) on the life of a man who before this, was polite and a good guy. So should he be allowed into the Hall of Fame just on his illustrious wrestling career, or will his unfortunate demise keep him out? So I’ll ask you, the readers: does Chris Benoit belong in the Hall of Fame? To me, he does, and I am inducting him into the M.O.P. Hall of Fame.
Well ladies and gentlemen, this edition has come to an end. Thanks for reading, and tune in next week when I continue my series on famous factions in the WWF/E and other promotions. Until next time, I am The Master of Puppets, the dojo is closed and I AM OUT!!!

My predictions:
Mickie James or Beth Phoenix (Mickie because she's popular and doesn't have a belt, Beth because she's supposed to be dominant) Jericho (He should not lose to a group of old guys. Austin will probably show up, beat him up and spray him with beer or something for closure) Matt (I think it would be cool if Christian assist Matt and it turns out they were working together so Christian could have something to do besides wasting away in ECW) JBL (Or he'll loose by DQ and stay with the belt in order to retire with it) Morrison and the Miz (the Colons have been wining on tv only to trick people into thinking they will win. Morrison and Miz come out on all shows already as I assume the unified tag team would need to do) HBK (He could end Undertaker's streak and would not be hated for it, plus taker is getting really old and its harder to believe no one can beat him) MVP (He's recovering from the loosing streak and was promised a push) Cena (Cena is wwe's cash cow, maybe him winning will boost 12 Rounds ticket sales) Orton (So HHH could win it back at a later time and eventually beat Rick Flair's number of title reigns)

im in the same boat w/ all Chris Benoit fans, we take crap for liking a guy that killed his family...and as much as any1 can't like what he did out of the ring or w/ the steroids, u cant disrespect the fact that the crowd cheered for him, he could wrestle, and he was someone most people could like. if people went on straight up morals, we wouldnt like some of the roster because of drug use, we wuldnt like the Rock because he left wrestling for movies(id rather watch him wrestle than b a taxi driver driving 2 alien kids to their spaceship anyways, we wouldnt like John Cena because he gets hurt every so often and takes off 2 shoot movies. There are so many other people you could jeer at because they did a really bad thing. Chris Benoit killed his family and himself, what 4-5 people? how many people are killed by drugs and poverty? how many could you choose to jeer at but instead choose to jeer at a man that took roids so he was a messed up in the head. Fact of the matter is that people do stupid things, no matter how stupid, u cant complain about them, cuz some1 else can find a way 2 make fun of you. this is my opinion and go ahead and flame me, laugh at me, yell at me, but do not take credit away from people because you have no idea what was/is going on w/ them and in their life.

Most of you seem to have lost your minds.. So ill justify my selections
Trish/Mickie James - Noone really cares Legend..Austin- They want to have it end here, if jericho wins then the storyline will continue.. we'll see all 3 finishers before Mickey Rourke comes in we see a Stone cold Stunner then a Ram jam..
Matt- They want this to continue, if jeff wins it will be over, If matt wins jeff wants revenge it continues on and on
JBL- Hes going to do something spectacular, he'll retire the title.. either that or we'll see him do something crazy like lose the title, buy his way into the Money in the bank cash in at the end of the night and take the title off whoever wins the WHC match..
M&M- this was just a choice. they just want to unify the titles dont matter who wins
Taker- As big as shawn is they wont have him end the streak of the deadman they'll use TD JNR or another up and coming guy do it..
Christian/kane - Hopefully they give kane the win and he can go onto a real feud he aint getting any younger.. either that or christian will get the push we all expected..
Big Show - Cena is going away soon to make another movie, unless they give him the title and then get 'injured' and have to give it up i doubt they'll make cena champion.. Big show was meant to win the MITB apparantly but got taken out to be put in this match, Give the title to show, have him take over Vicky, make edge psycho again and have a good feud..
RKO - Legacy come down Batista returns takes them out.. Then its HHH VS ORTON ONE ON ONE No legacy around We see Shane Vince and Stephanie come down to ring to watch HHH destroy RKO before we see Shane Knock Vince and Stephanie to the floor HHH Suprised turns round to an RKO and Win.. Orton new champion.. Orton Legacy and Shane celebrate..

If the creative team comes up with something with shawn winning I will pretty much have lost faith in them I mean most of there decisions have been terrible first there was putting off umaga which was bearable then they switched Christian with matt which was a terrible idea but this is taking things to another level. Also no idea on benoit
mae young (She would prob. be in it) legends matt mmmm... jbl mnm taker (Please?) christian or MVP cena and orton

Diva's Battle Royal - I could care less Jericho v. Legends - See above Hardy v. Hardy - Go Jeff JBL v. Rey - Once again... eh. Unification Match - Definately gotta be Miz & Morrison. Losing that match would kill their push. 'Taker v. HBK - Michaels retired Ric Flair last year. I don't think they'll have him retire Undertaker's streak this year. If they do they took away the only real achievement 'Taker has that he can call his own. MITB - I WANT to see Finlay or Kane win it. But they'll probably do something lame with it. Triple Threat - Big Show. Edge and Cena are both about to take some time off, from what I've read. HHH v Orton - Hopefully Orton.

divas. sunny hardy vs hardy. jeff, doesnt matter if jeff wins for the rivalry as matts a heel all he has to do is attack jeff again come the following weeks. jbl vs rey everybody loses out with this match miz and jim morrison vs colons. morrison by a mile mitb. kane will win, and might actually do something decent with the oppurtunity instead of being used edge styles. triple threat cena unforunately hhh v orton well triple h will win, but ortons the future

strait up yes i think benoit should be a hall of famer yes ok he did kill his family and himself and thats messed up but the hall of hame isnt about private life out of wrestling its about the wrestler in the ring and how good a career they had and lets be honest he had one hell of a career and was a damn good wrestler that was well liked by everyone

If anyone thinks Benoit will get anywhere near the HOF they need to go and see a doctor. His illustrious in-ring career is greatly outweighed by what happened in the end.

I don't see why people are so against Taker losing at Wrestlemania! I actually think that it'd be better to have him lose to a star like HBK rather than a rising star. If DiBiase or someone else like him ended the streak, wth? All the guys that came before him couldn't win but this guy comes in and suddenly wins? Seriously? Yeah, it'd be a nice push but something with as much prestige as the streak should not be ended by someone who's simply rising. WWE has ended a bunch of other streaks before anyway. Remember when Batista ended HHH's HIAC streak? How about when Cena ended Umaga's undefeated streak? What did that really do for them? Nothing much. They don't even talk about it anymore. Nobody should be pushed into the spotlight from ending a streak. A streak should be ended by somebody in the spotlight out of respect. Shawn will be that man.
As for Benoit, I would love to see him in the HOF. He was such an amazing wrestler! I know he killed his family and himself, and I hate him for that. But that's Chris Benoit the person in a screwed up state of mind. Chris Benoit THE WRESTLER was one of the best ever, and should be recognised for his accomplishments.

Will Chris ever make it into the HOF ?
let's take a look at past champions in other sports and see if they are in the HOF
Barry Bonds ... all-time homerun leader (762) and the single season homerun leader (73) ... he is also the all-time career leader in both walks (2,558) and intentional walks (688) ... the sole member of the 500-500 club (homeruns and stolen bases) a 7 time MVP, 14 time All-Star and 8 time Gold Glove winner ... involved with the BALCO steroids scandal and later was indicted for perjury and obstruction of justice ... not yet eligible for HOF (2012) but MANY, MANY people who do the actual voting have said they will NEVER vote for him because of his steroid use
Mark McGwire ... hit 49 homeruns in his ROOKIE year (MLB record)... 12 time All Star ... hit 245 homeruns in a 4 year span and is famous for giving the U.S. Congress "I'm not here to talk about the past" speech when asked if he used steroids ... chances of him making the HOF ... you decide ... you need 75% of the votes to be put on the ballot ... in his 2 years of being eligible, his best effort was a measly 23%
Baseball players Ken Caminiti, Jason Giambi, Benito Santiago, Gary Sheffield, Jose Canseco, Wally Joyner, Rafael Palmeiro. American football players Bill Romanowski, Dana Stubblefield, Tyrone Wheatley, Johnnie Morton. The Track and Field stars of Marion Jones, Ben Johnson, Dwain Chambers. The boxer "Sugar" Shane Mosley. The cyclist Floyd Landis are among just some of the growing world-wide lists of athletes that have admitted to using or have been tested positive for steroids ... their careers are tainted beyond fixing and probably will never make it into their respected HOF.
thus I ask you again ...
is Chris "the Canadian Crippler" Benoit worthy of the Hall of Fame ... his wrestling credentials are impressive to say the least ... but with the recent news surrounding steroid abuse and coupled with the "PG" image that Vince is pushing in the WWE, it makes it awfully hard to EVEN CONSIDER putting Chris "the 2 time murderer and steroid abuse-user" Benoit into the WWE HOF

I would like to see beth phoenix win the diva match
I want chris jerk-weed to get the holy crap kicked out of him, can't stand this guy any more
hardy bros - who cares
ic title - jbl, who then makes history by retiring as champ
tag team title - carlito and primo
taker and michaels - comment 11 said same thing i'm thinking, they won't let the takers streak end
mitb - finlay (actually its hornswoggle thats climbs the ladder and grabs the case)
3-way - show is an over-pushed jobber that wasn't even worthy of licking kevin nash's boots a few years ago and edge (imho) has no talent and should be released. cena is the crowd favorite and should get the win
trips and orton - the writers on the is story line did not do very good research into anything ... all kinds of things were just wrong, but my biggest pet peeve is that ide is a side effect of steroid abuse (that's a great idea) - bottom line is that trips will win this match - is the only logical solution to this sad story line
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
comment 18 - don't forget about Pete Rose, one of the greatest hitter to play baseball, never took drugs just gambled a lot. not in hof. what about shoeless joe jackson, one of the greatest outfielders to ever play baseball banned from baseball for life for supposedly taking a bribe. not in hof
both of them should be in hof, but never will. chris benoit never will either because hes a killer
comment 19,i care who wins the hardy's match.and benoit didn't tkae steroids,and if he did,that wasn't the reason he killed his family and himself.they took an autopsy(didn't spell that right i know)on his brain and found that he had the brain of an 80 year old alzheimers patient.probably because of all the headbutts from the top over all those years
Good article.....I agree with all the picks except I see Kane and Big Show winning. It should be about time for the whole Edge/Fat Cow "marriage" to end, and Cena will be gone again soon to make a movie. So I see Show winning it, and holding it for a month or 2, then losing it to someone like Mr. Kennedy, one of the Hardy's, or Undertaker......or maybe Kane wins MINTB moves to SD in the draft and takes the title after a Show/Edge cage match or something. Now, to Benoit.......I was never a big fan of his, but he was a great wrestler. I think based on his accomplishments in the ring, he belong in the HOF. Its the WRESTLING HOF.....not the life HOF, so I don't think the end of his life should be considered. He can't be compared to Bonds, McGwire, etc...because they are all accused of something that padded the stats that would put them in their hall of fame. Benoit......with or without steroids, he was a champion not because of steroids but because his career was scripted that way. HOF inductions should be based on achievements in the sport....not on personal life. Chris Benoit and Pete Rose both belong in their HOFs.
Y2J or Legends dont care just want storyline over
Draw (doube countout after insane high risk move keep it going till summerslam)
Miz & Morisson w/ Belle interference on some level
JBL although i dont think retiring with the title is the historic thing he's doin but i still pick him to win
Want Kane to win but think they will give it to Kofi
Show, both edge an cena need/want time off
orton so hhh can carry on manipulating it to beat flairs record
My Predictions:
25 Diva Battle Royal -Kelly Kelly
Triple Threat World Heavyweight Championship -Big Show (Cena doesn't need it again, at least not for a while, Edge should just quit being the champion, he whines too much)
WWE Title -Triple H, I just want to see Orton gets his ass kicked.
Unified Tag Titles -MnM 2 (Colons don't deserve them, I mean, they're not 2 time Slammy winners right?)
Money in the Bank -I'm going with Kane... nothing to it.
Brother vs Brother -Jeff, he has too much hype.
Chris Jericho vs The Legends -The Legends, Mickey Rourke is at the ringside, why wouldn't they win? Anyway, I'm hoping to see a good Ram Jam :D
My Predictions
Diva's Battle Royal Trish or Kelly Kelly
Legends vs Y2J I am going with Y2J... then after when he is celebrating Austin leading the HOFer to the ring to beat up Y2J.
Brother vs Brother: i think this is the dumbest match but i am going with matt.
Tag Match: Miz and Morrison 4 suree.
Money in the Bank: I am going with Kofi Kingston.
Taker vs HBK: I am going with Taker. Because of the WWE's flop of the taker 17-0 t-shrit.
World Title Match: My fav wrestler is Edge. But I am going with Big Show. Due to the fact that edge might get cut for rest. I just HATE cena.
WWE Title Ortan vs HHH I am going with HHH. the i think Ortan "IED" is going to kick in and when Legacy trys to comme him he is going to do wat edge did the "the edge heads".
kelly kelly Legends Jeff M and M even though i want the colons to win Kane should get another push Undertaker gets 17-0 (Kane should end his streak) Cena will win , just before the match he will just "remind" edge and big show their betrayal to each other and that vicky is going for the guy to win HHH will kick the hell out of orton then legacy will come in , but then hello Shane McMahon will keep them at bay then HHH pedigrees orton after a sledgehammer shot while the ref aint looking (legacy vs shane he tries to get them to leave) then HHH and Shane both get weapons and chase after Legacy
