July 11th 2008-Baton Rouge Pre-show run-through: Last week Edge called the Wedding off to the delight of wrestling fans of every race, gender and religion. One week on..have Edge and The Chimp patched things up or is the wedding still as dead as Trevor Murdoch’s career? Just 2 weeks away from The Great American Bash...what will Edge and HHH have to say to each other before their match? And will there be any other matches added to the card? Lets find out! (opening video) *We are shown a video package recap of what happened last week and the "breakup" between Edge and The Chimp (Read my previous Smackdown report for extra details on what happened)* Lights, Camera, Action! "You think you know me"...Edge's music and out comes Edge (what a concept). JR puts over the crap Edge has gone through. Poor guy. Edge talks about what happened last week and how he called off the wedding. Big pop for that...these people are scoundrels! He says defiantly that the wedding is still off. Edge talks about all of the championships he has won, more than anybody currently in the industry (I may have to check up on this one to see if he’s telling lies!). He says at the Great American Bash, he will defeat HHH and become the WWE champion. Cue The Chimp, who receives the usual "Get out of our town right now" type reception from the fans. Vickie is pissed because Edge said it was her loss. She nags on for a bit then books Edge in a match to "prepare" him for HHH, against the Big Slow - NO DQ. Edge says he is not afraid of the Big Slow (or his appetite). He says by the end of Smackdown, Big Show will be a loser, just like her. Vickie then simply turns off Edge's mic (stealing a page from William Regal's playbook on that one) *Video package about Maria coming to Smackdown (This is now the 2nd week they have teased her arrival....the girl is hot but this can’t be that big of a deal...) (ads) Match #1: Matt Hardy vrs Shelton Benjamin (Non-Title Match)Didn't Matt go to ECW? So much for the draft eh? At LEAST Jim Ross told us a fairy tale about Teddy Long allowing Matt to work Smackdown (pff). Still, this should be a great match. Lots of scientific wrestling and whatnot to open the bout. The guys trade moves with Hardy running wild. Shelty hits a neckbreaker. Piped in. Shelton with a neckcrank on Matt. Matt makes a comeback, Shelty cuts him off. Shelty goes up top but Matt kicks him in the solar plexus on the way down and goes for the Twist of Fate, but Shelty grabs a hold of the ropes to block it. Very smart. Hardy starts to hit Shelton with rabid punches as the ref pulls him back. While Matt and the ref struggles, Shelton props up and hits Matt with some swinging clothesline/neckbreaker deal (it just looks like a clothesline with Shelton sitting back) and getting the win. Winner via Pinfall: Shelton Benjamin A nothing match really except it may act as a possible teaser for the rumoured upcoming Shelton-Jeff Hardy feud. I like Shelton, his in ring skills speak for themselves yet I feel Jeff H is going down a few notches going into a feud with Shelty as Jeff was just beginning to establish himself as a main eventer...just. As for Matt...well....still US Champ and he will still not die....moving on.... *Backstage, The Edgeheads are offering their support to Vickie. They say Edge has abused them and they don't deserve it. They say they have decided to stay out of it and not help Edge. They say they want revenge with a match against Jesse and Festus. Vickie books it. They say they will always be there for her. She cries. Whatever.* (ads) Match #2: Misssssster.Kennedy vrs Domino MVP comes down for commentary and cuts one hell of a promo putting himself over. Kennedy does his whole self-announcing thing....It's still very over and a fun gimmick. I'm glad he is doing the full intros now. MVP says Kennedy was the US Champ for a cup of coffee while he was the longest title holder. Brilliant. MVP vs. Kennedy at the Bash I suspect (Duh). Some mat wrestling ending with Kennedy hitting a drop toe hold. This match is obviously designed to get Kennedy over on Smackdown. I don't see Domino winning any matches any time soon (or a new contract either for that matter). Kennedy goes for a version of the facewash until Domino escapes. Domino on the outside until Kennedy follows with an attack. Domino gets the heat by cutting him off. Domino hits a very high legdrop for 2. Domino with a boring chinlock, shades of Sid Vicious. Kennedy starts to make his comeback. Finally he hits the facewash. He drags Domino into the middle of the ring but Domino knees him in the belly. But then Domino walks right into the slowest Mic Check ever for the pin. Winner via Pinfall: Missssster.Kennedy......Kennedy Kennedy stares down MVP at the end. From behind, Umaga out of nowhere appears and kicks Kennedy and then hits the Samoan Spike. MVP laughs. The crowd boo. And I’m emotionless:) *We cut to the back and see Chavito. He tells Edge that he is on his side and can't believe what The Chimp is doing. Chavo says he doesn't blame Edge for calling the wedding off (Nor do I). Chavo says that he's going to do Edge a favor and straighten it out. Bam Neely is with them and looks quite confused. Chavo says he is going to give Vickie a piece of his mind. Chavo says that he and Edge are family no matter what. Edge thanks him.* *Chavo then pops in to Vickie who is on the phone. He cannot believe what Edge did to her by calling off the wedding, "that jerk". Chavo says Edge is a liar and arrogant. Chavo says he and her are family - Guerreros. (My thoughts-Chavo is a SNAKE) Vickie tells him to cut the crap. YES! She says tonight, Chavo will compete against HHH. That’s what snakes deserve:) (ads) Match #3: Miz and Morrison vrs Finlay and An Un-identified CreatureThis is a rematch from the NOC. Remember how back in the day, whenever they would do an undercard rematch from a PPV on free TV, it got huge hype. Those days are indeed over. Finlay starts to stiff people early on but gets cut off. Finlay then tags Horny in who hits a series of stunners. Yes... Stone Cold Stunners. This was meant to get the crowd over and it failed. Horny hits the ropes but gets cut off by Miz and Morrison's double dropkicks. Miz and Morrison both jumped in the air to hit a double drop kick, which means that there are four feet in the air. The idea of a full sized person dropkicking a midget was humorous. Miz and Morrison get some heat for a short time until Finlay is tagged in who hits a dropkick of his own. Too many dropkicks from people who should not be throwing them or by people who should not be receiving them. Finlay uses the Shillelagh on the Miz and Horny goes up top for the tadpole splash. 1...2... and 3. Ughh, I guess this feud continues. Winners via Pinfall : Finlay and An Un-identified Creature I recall watching a Dirt Sheet on WWE.com awhile back and remember Morrison and Miz intentively agreeing that if Hornswoggle ever hit them with a tadpole splash there would be "serious consequences".....I truly hope those consequences are ridding this world of the that glorified hobbit once and for all.... *A brand new video package about Jeff Hardy shooting the cover of WWE Magazine. Jeff says he is like Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible, avoiding objects to get to the WWE Title. It's a shame that one of those objects isn't a wellness test.* Match #4: HHH vrs Chavo Guerrerro w/Bam Neely Boy oh boy. You wanna talk about a NO BUYS match! Hell, not even thirty buckets of JBL's Mamajuana Energy can keep me awake for this one. Bam Neely faces off with HHH. What a goof. Chavo gets the advantage early with right hands and suplexes. They trade blows until Bam interferes. Chavito starts to beat down HHH with some horrendously repulsive-looking punches. Chavo comes off and gets caught in the double A spinebuster!. HHH nails Bam as he gets on the apron. Chavo goes for the 3 Amigos (RIP Eddie Dude), but HHH converts it into a Pedigree (with ease) for the win. Winner via pinfall: HHH Just a match to showcase the champ to the crowd really...and let them enjoy watching Chavito gettin his ass whooped. I must say, I’m a bit ticked off that HHH-Edge have had no chance to buildup their title match at The Bash...I was looking forward to exciting promo exchanges and cheapshots galore in the weeks leading up to their bout but they haven’t even come into CONTACT with one another yet...what a lousy way to hype the PPV match. This damn wedding angle is too distracting and The champ is bored after only 3 weeks of being here...I can tell. Match #5: Natalya & Maryse vs. Michelle McCool & Cherry Cherry Foley and JR officially announce McCool vs. Natalya for the WWE Diva's Championship at the Great American Bash PPV next week (I told ye so!). McCool and Maryse one on one to start out. Groan. McCool hits a spinning kimura for a takedown and goes for a cover. 2 count. McCool with a dropkick. Cherry is in. Nattie is in. I love Nattie, but her voice is incredibly...how you say...manly?. Still, she is a very snug worker. Nattie comes in and quickly slaps on the sharpshooter for the submission win as Cherry Cherry taps. DAMN! Winners via Submisson: Natalya and Maryse After the match, Nattie attacks McCool and takes her to the outside. Nattie hits a nasty snap suplex on the outside on McCool (probably a reflection of the real life dis-agreement they had backstage on how to work like a "wwe diva"). Natalya says the butterfly belt is hers and I’ve got no complaints with that..... (ads) Match #6: Jesse and Festus vs. The Edgeheads. Jesse is actually getting to wrestle here, attacking one of the Edgeheads (I can't tell them apart sometimes lol). Tag is made to the other guy who goes for a suplex but Jesse reverses and makes a tag. Festus gets in there cleaning house with a series of clotheslines and headbutts. He goes for a splash and misses. In the corner, Hawkins and Ryder strategize and both go on the outside as the ref counts. Festus is in the ring and he's losing it. The ref counts to ten and the Edgeheads are counted out, purposely. Huh? Winners via Countout: Jesse and Festus When the bell rings, Hawkins and Ryder smile and attack Festus (who is prone to attack as he is he turned braindead again from the resulting bell ring). So THAT was the plan. Wait, WHY WOULD YOU COST YOURSELF THE MATCH? ISNT THE POINT OF WRESTLING TO WIN? Anyways, they attack Festus and Jesse crawls out to ring the bell. Festus comes back to life and he and Jesse clean house! *We get a video package on HHH (because of course, nobody knows who HE is). Match #7: Vlad Kozlov (w/ Entrance Music) vs. Stevie Richards. Stevie Richards is in the ring. Is this a joke? Where has this guy been....didn’t even know he was still employed. Kozlov actually has theme music now, with some guy talking in Russian over a strong guitar rift. It's not a bad song whatsoever. Sort of reminds me of Batista's old theme. This match, as expected, is a squash. He starts to show off some of his "Sambo MMA" skills. Stevie makes a small comeback, but Koslov cuts him off and hits a very weak looking headbutt to the back of his head for the win. Winner via Pinfall: Vladimir "The Moscow Mauler" Kozlov. Boring squash match. It could've at least been entertaining like last week's against Domino, but I guess not....Kozlovs jobber rampage continues... *We cut to the back and Chavo (with Bam obviously) and Edge are arguing. Edge says Chavo threw him under the bus. The Edgeheads step in to join the argument. Edge says The Chimp has been screwing with every one of them. He says tonight he has a No DQ Match with Show. He says he wants one of them to go out there with him. Vickie appears and tells them to shut up. She says that if anybody comes out there during the match, she will fire them, and then she tells Edge that if he thinks about walking out, she will fire him too....Power mad women...nothing more scary. *RAW Rebound...with KANE losing his mind! Can somebody tell Kane that 2Pac is not alive!! The Maaaaaain Event!: No DQ-Edge vrs Big Show Big Show kicks Edge's ass from the onset. Vickie is on the apron watching the match from the wheelchair. Show starts to kill Edge with some chops to the chest. Edge hits a nasty spear on the outside. These two continue to fight around ringside. Show is pissed and chucks Edge into the steel steps. This is chaotic. Show continues to wear Edge's chest out. Edge hits an unbelievable bulldog from the guard rail on Show to the floor. The match finally makes it to the ring where Edge slaps on a reverse chinlock until Show reverses out. Vickie has rolled herself right to ringside now. Big Show continues to dominate Edge like a small child. I'm loving this so far. Show went for a chokeslam but Edge reverses to a DDT for 2. Edge may be the best wrestler in WWE other than HBK in my opinion. He is awesome, no doubt about that. Edge goes for a cover but gets 2. Great near-fall. Edge goes to the outside and grabs the dreaded steel chair - two of them. Show punches right through it and Edge's face in the process. Show grabs Edge for the chokeslam, but Edge hits a low blow and saves himself. Edge with a nasty chairshot to Show's back. He places the chair under Show's head. Conchairto time!!! Show grabs him out of nowhere and BAM, CHOKESLAM!! Edge is out. Show grabs the chair and prepares to put Edge in a Conchairto of his own until.....The Chimp grabs a mic and yells to stop the match. Montreal much? She yells at the ref to stop the match and rushes to Edges aid Winner: No Contest. Big Show looks at her and just leaves! Thanks for coming big guy. She helps Edge up. Vickie realizes that she really loves Edge and didn't want him killed by Show. I guess even heels have a heart. She says she loves him and Edge says he loves her too. They swap tongues... Awwwwwww... sickening. I guess the wedding is back on....Should be fun at the very least as all WWE weddings tend to be (See Test and Steph, Edge and Lita, Long and Krisal etc etc) OVERALL ANALYSIS This show seemed like more of a placeholder than anything. The wedding was originally planned to have been on this show but they put it back a week....hmmm, maybe Taker needed an extra week to lick his wounds before he does some serious wedding crashing. Also, Is Michael Hayes back yet? Can't be, because Shelton WON a match. Insider joke lol. Two champions have lost in non-title matches tonight...one would wonder does it even matter? Overall Show Grade: C+

Awesome report. the few things that tick me off thought is that vladimor or what ever the hell his name is keeps winnig. ooo beating up jobbers makes you look good and that headbutt is the worst one i ever seen. second the divas group is only eye candy no real talent expect for natalaya and beth there are both powerful beautiful women.

Makes me wish I was a WWE writer, I would of had Edge pretend to accept her apology and Spear her while her back was turned. This could of been a Ideal chance for a Face Turn for Edge and an opportunity for him to win some respect by himself. Is anyone else sick of this whole need someone else to win for me crap? I liked the old come from the crowd Edge and kick your ass in unique ways Edge. You could of had Stephanie Mcmahon or even Shane make an announcement on next weeks SD that Spearing the GM is unacceptable behavior and Edge will pay for his Sins, enter HHH to do the bosses bidding and welcome back the corporate champion! Heel turn for HHH. Edge vs HHH rivalry.
Instead we get Edge whines like a pussy, Vicki loses her velcro balls and feels sorry for him and La Familia only get a fraction of what they deserve in payback.
I can say at least the story is still kinda intrigueing. I mean what will happen next? Will the wedding really continue? Huge Ego's such as Edge's and Vicki's are bound to explode again, so it is still interesting but it coulda been so much greater!

I wish that once, just for fun, that when Finlay and Hornswoggle are introduced, Finley would be shown leading the Hulk down the intro ramp. You know, with a little green hat on top of his head. The Hulk could carry a sheleliegh and all. Get to the ring and let the Hulk clean house for a change. Kinda reverse of what always happens. Or do a lights out with Hornswoggle in the ring and when the lights come back on, the Giant would be standing there wearing tattered remains of Hornswoggle's costume. Like BAM Hornswoggle has mutated or something. lol
