43% of TNA roster test positive for drugs

Back to home

Henry Waxman of the U.S. House of Representatives from California's 30th district issued a report on the steroid problem in professional wrestling on Friday. In Waxman's report, it was revealed that fifteen of the sixty TNA wrestlers who were tested for drugs in January 2008 tested positive for steroids. Eleven other TNA wrestlers tested positive for various other drugs, so 43% of the roster were on drugs at one time or another this time last year. Six wrestlers tested positive for marijuana, one wrestler tested positive for opiates, and one wrestler tested positive for propoxyphene, two wrestlers tested positive for benzodiazepines (such as xanax and valium), one wrestler tested positive for amphetamines, .

TNA performers were warned in advance that they would be tested, but twenty-six still failed. However, they were told that they would not be punished for this baseline round of testing.

The drug testing was not just limited to the males as the females were tested as well. This time last year, there were fifteen active female performers on the roster including Angelina Love, Awesome Kong, Christy Hemme, Crystal Louthan, Gail Kim, Jackie Moore, Karen Angle, Ms. Payton Banks, ODB, Raisha Saeed, Roxxi Laveaux, Salinas, SoCal Val, Traci Brooks, and Velvet Sky.

We have never heard of a female wrestling performer failing and/or getting suspended for drugs, so presumably all of the "Knockouts" passed their respective drug tests. If you deduct the fifteen women from the sixty tested, that leaves forty-five male wrestlers. That would mean 33% of the male TNA performers were on steroids this time last year, with 58% of the male TNA roster being on any kind of drug.

Waxman concluded his report on TNA by saying "there are significant weaknesses in the TNA testing program."

I don't see the problem with them using drugs. I use Ketamine all the time. and Poppers when I'm with my partner. He likes recreational drug use too!

"We have never heard of a female wrestling performer failing and/or getting suspended for drugs, so presumably all of the "Knockouts" passed their respective drug tests." So because one has never been reported before that automatically means the could NEVER fail a drug test? A woman could have failed a drug test for ANY of those drugs. The type of steroids were not listed, therefore we can not isolate the steroids to a man or a woman. Steroid don't only bulk you up. Steroid can do anything, from cell regrowth to fat burning. I am tired with the uninformed writers on this website blatantly writing articles about things they have limited knowledge about. Until you find hardcore evidence that no 'Knockout' has smoked some weed, popping some xanax or otherwise, do not PRESUME anything. Presume is just a word people made to avoid using the word ASSUME for obvious reasons. I find it funny you can pull numbers out of your butt about 33% of the male performers were on steroids this time last year and 58% of the male TNA roster being on any kind of drug. What a joke...

Here Here 'What?' There is a lot of opinionated children here that aren't aware of the full facts on the things they have opinions on. Funny really, They're told 'drugs are bad', 'steroids are bad' and they take it as that. Yes, people have the right to have there own opinion but basically it's null and void if they cannot give reason, or elaborate on there opinions.

we keep reading how steroids are bad, but in a line of work as physically demanding as wrestling, steroids are also legitimately used (as in legally prescribed) to heal up injuries. the report posted on wrestlinganswer.com does not say how many of these performers have legit prescriptions to treat nagging injuries.
