The Sun has once again posted an article with John Cena on their website. The Sun had a controversial inteview with Cena a while back in which he bashed The Rock already which got mixed reactions from fans.
Now Cena adds that The Rock always considered wrestling to be a stepping stone to a career as an actor. Becoming an actor was his main goal and wrestling was just something that brought him closer to that goal. If you want to get there that way, it's OK with Cena, but you shouldn't lie to the fans and keep giving them the "This is all I ever wanted to do"-speech.
He says it's not only a slap in the face of the fans, but all the wrestlers also work hard to put on the best show possible. However, when you say "This is the greatest gig in the world" and then leave to make it in the movies, it's hard. Cena says he loves wrestling a lot more than he loves making movies, and he'd never abandon the squared circle for the Hollywood red carpet.
A closing remark from Cena: "It's guys like that who set the precedent of using wrestling as a stepping stone to do films. But there's no controversy to any of that—as Rock is a successful actor and that's what he has always wanted to be."
When looking into Judgement Day, he says he's happy to see Morrison, The Miz, Punk and Kane in a high profile match. Although he says he's never been a big fan of Morrison, he sees a lot of potential in him, and he hopes he doesn't take the chances given to him lightly.

I don't really like John Cena, but I MUST agree with what he said. He said alot of truth to that, The Rock is one of my favorites from the old times and he wasn't injured. He just retired after which he stated was 4-6 years of wrestling. He just wanted to become an actor, I don't think thats right to any fan of him.

Of course you're gonna be bitter if you look at someone who's ten times better at wrestling then you are without even TRYING.
That's the real reason Cena's mad.

LOL, Cena's making a movie bud. The push will be back as soon as he is full time.
Now, honestly, I like Cena, but he is a complete idiot for saying this. Is he right? Maybe. Maybe not. But there's no way this can help his career.

sounds like Cena is a little jealous of someones movie career. it's a good thing he won't leave the squared circle for his movie career because it's not worth a damn.

This really smacks of bitterness on behalf of Cena. How on earth would he know whether or not it was "all Rock ever wanted to do?" That's the crux of his argument - something he couldn't possibly know for certain. And even IF it was... WWE has wrestlers behave like their personas outside of wrestling too, while they are employed. I would've thought he'd be aware of that. So if Rock said "wrestling's what I most want to do in life"... and didn't mean it... he was just in character. Secondly, he might have meant it then, and changed his mind later on! Nothing wrong with that. And THIRDLY, he might have meant it then, and still mean it now, but realise that he should've quit while he was ahead, so that people don't remember him as washed-up. Wanting a type of career the most, and thinking you can keep up with it indefinately beyond another type of career, are two different things. ANYWAY. Whatever Rock's motivations, which Cena professes to somehow mystically know and actually can't, it doesn't matter. He quit while on top and went into something else he loved. Fair enough I say! Give it a rest John.

I don't care for him, but Cena is pretty much right. The Rock is and should be looked upon as a traitor by everyone in WWE. The fact is he basically quit the company while still under contract to become the next Arnold Swarzzy...which, by the way, hasn't worked out too great so far. If, as someone said, he wanted to make more money and have a better future......the man was making millions as the Rock. Why leave that for an acting career that may or may not ever amount to anything? Brock Lesnar did the same thing......gave up millions of dollars and the chance to retire as the BEST ever, to get kicked out of NFL training camp, then get beat down in UFC. Both men are traitors, and Mr. McMahon won't touch Lesnar now because of it......but the Rock?? Both should be turned away when they show back up in Stamford looking for a job.
Rock and Lesnar both got what they wanted, and now they have to live with it......maybe TNA will pick them both up and use them as Cornette's bodyguards in a few years. Thats as lucky as they will get.

Oh I see, so you'd prefer it if Rock looked like Hogan and moved around the ring at 1mph running? Remember, what he gave up wasn't the last few years of his wrestling career, repeated - it was the NEXT few years of it, anew. I reckon he realised he was slowing down, and wouldn't be able to go for much longer - and had the SENSE to quit while he was ahead, BEFORE people started calling him washed up or not what he used to be. Such sense is quite uncommon.
Of course, the other possibility is that he just fancied a change. And so what if he did? 'Traitor' makes it sound like you joined an army and made some kind of pledge of allegience to it. Pro wrestling's a job. It can be a passion, and good for those to whom it is. But if it isn't, or used to be but isn't any more, for some people, then so what? Whatever job you do right now, should you be locked into that for the remainder of your days, or else be branded a traitor? Certainly not. It's just all a bit ridiculous. The Rock made life choices, good or bad - everybody does. Fair enough I say. Leave him be.

Leave him be and outside of a wrestling ring. The man was nowhere close to slowing down......he had a good 20 years left as a superstar. At least. He was in the best of shape of most any wrestler, and would have easily eclipsed anything Ric Flair ever did. Hogan doesn't compare......he was never a wrestler to begin with. The grand savior of wrestling was all he ever was.....as a NAME more than a wrestling talent. Once you make it to WWE, it is a commitment. A lifelong commitment. If you are good enough to lead the company as the Rock was, you honr that commitment with your life. If you're good enough to make it for a few years and be released, you stay committed to wrestling and getting back to WWE. It was the same with WCW, WCCW, NWA, WWF/WWE, etc....and always will be. It is much more than a job for anyone but the Rock. The problem with him is he ALWAYS wanted to act....he's said it. And because of his father and grandfather, he was handed a job by Vince McMahon.......which he used to get himself to Hollywood, where he always wanted to be. Ask Undertaker, Shawn Micheals, Steve Austin, Mick Foley, HHH, Vince McMahon, or anyone else in WWE, TNA, ROH, etc.....and they will and have said the same thing about Rocky. It may not seem right to some people, but it's the way it is. You don't make a commitment to put a company on your back and help carry it, when walk out from under it.
