Divas Championship to Be Vacated

It was reported here earlier that Melina will still be on Raw tonight despite her serious injury, and that she will probably be vacating her title. Well, the WWE website confirmed this today. Melina will drop the title on tonight's Raw, and an 8-Diva Tournament will take place to crown a new Divas Champion. The participants in the tournament will be Maryse, Alicia Fox, Gail Kim, Eve, Jillian Hall, Kelly Kelly, and The Bellas.

   Wrong word on the street says that Trish Stratus comes out of retirement to claim the title. ;) Just kidding...really, who cares? The problem is that there really isn't all that much competition in the women's division simply because there aren't that many women.

   Why would a title - ANY TITLE - go to the person who deserves it?? In wrestling titles are for storyline purposes only, not a recognition of greatness.

   I think people need to drop the idea of "deserving" a title. Titles are only for storyline purposes.
