There are reports stating that Don West's heel turn, which happened during last TNA iMPACT!, may have been a shoot. The points behind such statements are that what West said parallels Mike Tenay's real-life image. Apparently, there is some heat between the two guys regarding their positions as announcers in the past.
It's been reported that West expressed what a lot of people feel backstage at TNA, and they are happy such things were revealed on screen.

Yep! But I don't see Don West really becoming anything worth a storyline. I figure his shoot last night will get rid of him and bring in someone new. Maybe Nash, Foley, someone.

You guys are so full of it if you believe this. It's not a shoot, but it was a good segment.

Impacts are pre-taped and if it was a shoot then TNA wouldn't air it.

Either way TNA now has the standard face/heel announce team. I don't care if it's real or not, this is something folks've been asking for for ages. It's got nothing to do with storylines, just the way the show is called.

I'd been noticing they'd been creeping in the odd heelish comment to West's commentary every so often over a longish period of time leading up to this (or West himself had). I think it was well played-out. I'm looking forward to a heel/face announce team mix, if that does happen from this. And as long as they aren't done too frequently, storylines involving announce teams are usually quite fun (if this leads to a storyline). Whatever they're doing it looks good to me so far. If they are losing Don, then I for one will miss him. He was a great announcer in my opinion, yes who made mistakes but who had a good character with it, and constantly harshly-judged by people on his skills. Who knows, maybe he'll be taking part in Beer Money's off-the-wagon challenge, if that's what they're doing. That would be quite a funny spot.
