Female Wrestler Passes Away

Former lady wrestler Princess Jasmine (Cynthia Peretti/Johnson) passed away on Friday morning following a lengthy battle with cancer. She was 60.

Peretti broke into the business in 1968 through Dick the Bruiser after he noticed her watching the matches in Chicago. She relocated to
Indianapolis so she could train with Bruiser and he named her Princess
Jasmine.

Most of her career was spent in the Midwest territory during
the 70s and 80s but she also worked matches for the AWA, NWA and WWWF as well as overseas tours in Japan, the Caribbean, and various parts of Africa. In fact, in a crazy story, during a 1979 tour of Africa she was almost killed when a Nigerian Tribal Chief decided he was going to keep her as his bride. She had to flee the country.
