Daniel Bryan wrote a new blog where he talks about Shawn Michaels' retirement and says that the latter offered any help he needed. Bryan started his career in HBK's school.
Daniel Bryan also spoke about his problems; the lack of charisma and his size. Daniel Bryan says that these hinder his WWE improvement and the way people look at him but also says that his in ring ability is what makes him good:
"I know I’m not what WWE usually looks for in a Superstar. It’s quite obvious by Michael Cole’s commentary that he doesn’t think I have what it takes and I know there are even more people in the back who think the same thing. They doubt my mic skills and they doubt whether the WWE Universe can get behind someone who looks as plain as I do...but none of them doubt my in ring ability."
"I may not be what the WWE looks for when they’re recruiting, but most of the people they recruit don’t have the passion for this business that people like Shawn Michaels have. I do, and I’ve proven it over the last ten years. I will outwork, outsmart and outclass 99.9% of the muscleheads and pretty boys that they think have the right 'look.'"

He speaks truth. He is quite plain looking, but is an amazing performer. He won his awards, and his good reviews, for a reason. WWE are stuck in a damn rut, they think meatheads are the only guys we can get behind.

Mesa Daniel Bryan. Mesa got duh stuff. Mesa duh mic skillz. Mesa suck. Mesa can wrestle. Mesa got duh passion. Dem gits no mess with mesa. Bee gewd for duh wwe. Mesa a...oh wtf man seriously who gives a damn about this clown? This isn't the little leagues no more, this is the WWE. Stop being a cry baby and make earn your strips. Its amazing how many kids think they can just walk right into real deal and do something. Get a personality that doesn't bore us to tears and EARN your way in like everyone else did at one time.

Comment #4 you're so wrong. Daniel Bryan doen't need to do anything to "make it" in the WWE. His in-ring performance and fan base will give him a good push. Also, he has worked harder then a lot of guys in WWE.

With a few exceptions I agree that WWE does indeed look for wrestlers with that certain 'look'. And it works for what they are doing in selling a product that wows and grabs your attention. It is a formula that has without a doubt WORKED for WWE for decades. TNA is another matter. If your a legend and looking for work or someone with talent (but not with the wrestler 'look') then they will hire you. Don't EVEN get me started on the difference between the beautiful faces yet SORRY wrestling talent of the WWE divas verus the TNA knockouts whom can REALLY wrestle.

To be honest, he is right. He probably isn't what wwe is looking for but I can tell you quite honestly that thanks to his first show's main event, he is the sole reason I have actually stated to watch wwe again. And by wwe I mean just Nxt lol.

I agree with 7. TNA's girls have some real wrestling skill. The Divas, while certainly hot, aren't at the same level.
Unfortunately, the business these days IS about a 'look' and mic skills, or a good gimmick, THEN about ring skills. In my book, Bryan proved himself as WWF-worthy in his match with Jericho when he took that throw into the announce table and still finished the match. However, his looks aren't neccesarily WWF-calibre, and he hasn't had enough time cutting promos to evaluate that characteristic.

I don't agree, there are quite a few WWE so called superstars that have made it without any noticeable charisma or looks. Mike Knox for one (who I can't stand)
Jack Swagger for another, and even veterans like Kane. Kane has presence yes, charisma no. Some rely on a sometimes dodgy gimmick (Zack Ryder anyone) but as long as you can perform in the ring then so what? As for Michael Cole's commentary comments about Danielson, don't forget, like the guys in the ring, he is only following a script. He may think Bryan is the next best thing since sliced bread but can only say what someone in the back is feeding him through the head set.
Off topic, Cody Rhodes's concussion, real or Kay Fabe?

Interesting read and I have to agree with what he says about WWE and I agree on WWE's behalf too.
