Earlier this week, JBL revealed that he had plans that would be revealed at RAW. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, his segment was cut from the show. It appears that had it gone through as scheduled, JBL would have challenged CM Punk for the Intercontinental Championship and then gone on to defend it at Wrestlemania.
If it had happened as planned, this would definitely been a "historical" event. The WWE Intercontinental Title has not been defended at Wrestlemania since 2002, when it was known as the WWF Intercontinental Title.

That would've been a rather weak storyline anyway, unless it wasn't meant to lead up to an actual title defense at Wrestlemania, just as a continuation in the storyline of JBL continuously losing stuff left and right, first HBK's contract, then the Taker match, and would end in his going "Arg, I've been such a nasty heel all my career" which would end in him retiring after something heroic and befitting of a kickass entertainer of JBL's caliber. ... nah lol

Why don't you read the report, mark monkeys? It says THEN defend it at Wrestlemania. He wouldn't be challenging at Wrestlemania, but on RAW.
