SD writer, Michael Hayes first came up with the idea of WWE.com to do the stunt with Jeff Hardy. Vince McMahon fully support this and Stephanie gave the creative team the directions on how the storyline would work. WWE decided to do the angle last week before the PPV, and only people aware of this other then the writers were Jeff Hardy, Edge and HHH. Many people and a few news stations even believed this storyline, which is good for the WWE.

Surely this is bad. News channels will now be more likely to avoid WWE stories unless they are negative. This looks like a disaster in PR terms from my angle.

This is good for WWE because it means they came up with a storyline that even legitimate news organizations bought into. They were really able to convince people that Jeff Hardy was found unconscious. This is also very bad for WWE because news organizations are now going to be more wary of covering news about WWE wrestlers. So, good for them that they convinced people that what they were selling was real, bad for them that they've hurt their relationship with mainstream media.

I agree that they made it seem too real which is wrong but then again the news programs picked up the story to show another WWE wrestler went down.

Good for WWE, bad for journalism. In the end, whats more important?
