Jesse Ventura runs for senator in Minnesota?

Jesse Ventura recently started to drop hints in a local wine magazine (because he has a horrible relationship with the Minnesota press) that he considers running for senator. Now he is giving out more details on why he wants to run and more.

Why he wants to run

The reason he is running is because he does not like Repubican senator Norm Coleman's support for the war in Iraq. The anger that he experiences from this support is the reason why he's running for senator. "All you Minnesotans take a good hard look at all three of us. And you deicde: if you were in a dark alley, which one of the three of would you want with you?", is the voting advice of Jesse Ventura towards the people from Minnesota.

I am not a politician, I'm a statesman

Ventura says he wants to run for one term, and then go back to the private sector. He hates how his opponent Coleman never worked in the private sector for one day in his life, but has been in politics from the day he graduated, collecting government checks. Coleman says he feels the pain of the private sector. "How can he know that pain if he never experienced it?", asks Ventura.

About other opponent Franken

He says Franken is a carpetbagger and an opportunist. Franken hasn't lived in Minnesota for 30 years and now comes back solely for his politicial agenda. Ventura accuses Franken of avoiding taxes in other states he has worked in. "Everybody laughs about me coming from wrestling, but at least I knew that if I wrestled in 40 states, I had to pay taxes in those 40 states. I find it hard to believe that someone who went to Harvard didn't know that, or just let it slip," proclaims Jesse. Franken said it was a mistake of his accountant.

Jesse Ventura has already talked big about his opponents, but it's not clear yet if he'll actually run. Not even his wife is allowed to know at this point. The deadline for him to decide is next Tuesday.

   This is a pretty far off analysis by whoever wrote it. Stating the only reason Ventura is running is because of another guy's position on the war is not true. It may be a reason, but not the only reason, not even close.
   
   I study politics and I have heard Ventura on various radio talk shows over the past months, this isn't something new. He will run for the Senate.
