In a report after WrestleMania, ewrestlingnews.com reported that several top WWE superstars were not happy that a person such as Jim Ross, who gave so much to the company, was left off the WrestleMania 26 announcing team even though he was present for the show.
Jim Ross talked about this issue too and even wrote in his blog that Vince McMahon didn't make any time for him during WrestleMania weekend.
Jim Ross is known to be very professional and did not hint anything about his problems with WWE but ewrestlingnews.com reports that his blogs changed in the way they are written after the incident. His latest blogs hint that he is not thrilled with his situation and not too sure about where his future stands as he himself admitted, on his official website, that he doesn't know what the future holds for him in WWE.
It is highly unlikely that Jim Ross will retire from the sport but his contract is expiring soon.
Might this be the reason that TNA company officials started discussing (according to inside sources to ewrestlingnews.com) about his move to their company (because if his WWE status is good, it will be highly unlikely that someone as influential as Ross has been over the years for WWE would be let go so easily)?

well the best commentator they have right now is Matt Striker and Michael Cole even if vince is yelling into their ears what to say. I think that J.R was unhappy about that anyway, and said so on his blog some time ago.
Now if he goes to TNA then paired with Taz would be a great partnership but what they would do with Mike Tenay I don;t know. Face it it could be worse, you could have Don West back on the desk. If JR goes back to WWE then Vince shut the hell up and leave the commentators to say what they want, they did before, why not now?

I would obviously prefer JR to stay in WWE, but he would be tremendous in TNA too. (for that matter, he'd be great doing indie shows in front of 50 people). Surely WWE wouldn't let JR walk.

JR sucks plain and simple... i am glad he quit announcing since he couldn't get the move names down right. I have always preferred Joey Styles just because you keeps you interested in the match and has a more extensive wrestling vocabulary.

Wow, this post and its' responses were a real eye opener for me. I guess most of you all don't know that Jim Ross was heavily involved with wrestling long before his WWF(E) days. I guess no one's heard of UWF? It makes a lot of sense, seeing how much absolutely disgusting Cena and WWE love is going on and the absolute disdain for TNA, which is far more like the wrestling I grew up with (that being Mid-Atlantic and Georgia Championship Wrestling). By the way, Mike Tenay is third behind Jim Ross and Gordon Solie as the best wrestling announcers of all time (at least the ones on videotape or DVD). Little hint, Jim Ross is great but he isn't number one. I find it sad how little historical perspective is shown on here. Is anyone not 12 years old?

@ Blue Demon Jr.: actually, I'm 17 :P And I agree, he was in other companies before WWF/WWE. I'd just love to see and hear JR on tv again, regardless of which company that is.
