Lou Albano passes away

Yesterday, WWE great Lou Albano fell ill at was in hospice care at home.

Today, it is sad to report, Lou Albano has passed away at the age of 76.

Our sympathies are extended to his family and friends.

Lou Albano was the forefather in the Rock 'n' Wrestling Connection, devised by Vince McMahon in the 1980's, which was instrumental in wrestling's crossover success with a mainstream audience, mostly involving and colaborating with Cyndi Lauper.

Lou was one of the greatest antagonastic managers in wrestling history.
Over his career, spanning 42 years, Albano managed 4 singles competitors and 15 different tag teams to championship gold.

Just to add a little background for those who don't know (I didn't, so felt I should Wiki). Lou Albano was in the Hall of Fame class of 1996. He's managed the likes of Andre the Giant, Hulk Hogan, the Fabulous Moolah, Pat Patterson and Superfly Jimmy Snuka, among many other great singles competitors. It seems he's best known as the man who ended Bruno Sammartino's 7 year reign as WWF champion, helping Ivan Koloff. He also managed The Wild Samoans and The British Bulldogs, among others. A great career, and I'm sure he'll be given a fitting tribute by the WWE in the coming week.
