Mixed reactions to giving Hardy the title

Vince McMahon made the decision to put the title on Jeff Hardy.  The other scenario being considered was to have Edge remain champion through Backlash with the help of Vickie Guerrero, but that scenario has been done over and over again and the fans are tired of it.  Some members of creative were skeptical about putting the title on someone like Hardy who already has 2 strikes under his belt from wellness policy violations.  It was made clear that if the unfortunate situation occurs and Jeff Hardy received a 3rd strike while champion, then WWE would absolutely fire the champion.  Firing the champion would be another way for WWE to show everyone just how serious they are about the wellness policy.  The biggest objector to Hardy winning the title is Stephanie McMahon.  Her main argument is that Hardy is not reliable or responsible enough to be the #1 guy given his past history, mainly his 2 strikes on the wellness policy.  She feels this is a very high risk move and that it could end up costing WWE big time if something were to happen resulting in Hardy having to be fired.

Looks like it came down to:

    1. Edge being champion with Vickie's help (Oh God not again)
    2. HHH being champion and a wealth of no sell, boring matches (Oh God not again)
    3. Something to make the belt interesting again.

Why are some so resistant to change?

I just don't see Hardy getting a 3rd strike as champion. Unless it somehow got leaked out, I'm sure WWE would try to sweep it 'under the rug'. My guess is that Hardy won't be getting tested anytime soon just in case.

lol, they've been laying the foundation for this for awhile, thinking on it; having insinuations in promos to make sure the fans know Jeff's had prior drug violations. So now they can fire him if need be and have, but they've got a back door so the fans aren't sitting about wondering what the hell just happened. With the assured ratings boost and the statement firing the champion would have, this really was a win/win decision.

The past is the past. Vince's decision stands no matter what anyone else thinks... Why do you think they change the matches while they are still in the ring, if Vince does not like something he will change it... EG: CM Punk

So he is giving Hardy a chance, and my OPINION he will lose the belt for not performing right with it before he gets his third strike. And who's to say that his last strike won't come five/ten years from now... I think Jeff changed his life around when his house burnt down and he had to live with Matt. Matt straighten him out and got him back into WWE, plus WWE gives help to those who need it... *cough* Jake the Snake.... but he is to far along for any help.
