More on Ezekiel Jackson and ECW

Ezekiel Jackson defeated Christian in an Extreme Rules match on the final ECW to become the ECW Champion. Yes he is the official champion but he is also technically the shortest reigning ECW Champion of all time. At Guilty as Charged 2001, the Sandman won the title and held it for 6 minutes and 32 seconds before losing it to Rhino. From the three count to the show fading off air, Ezekiel's reign was 2 minutes and 59 seconds.

The WWE decided to shoot down the idea of just having Christian retain and end the show on a fan pleasing note. The reason for this was because Vince McMahon wanted Ezekiel Jackson to head into the Smackdown brand with high momentum.

Some wanted to honor the old ECW by having some of the originals and past names return for cameo appearences, but the WWE thought it was more important to get ECW off the air as fast as possible and get WWE NXT started.

Yeah, don't wanna waste time by paying respect to those that made ECW great, those that made ECW crap have to hurry along with their next failure.

Vince McMahon will never pay homage to anything he himself did not create. He did not create ECW and this is why he always treated it, all the way to the end, as a third world country.

And much like the XFL, I am certain this NXT will go the way of the dodo shortly after it begins.
