More on Sapolsky's Firing

Gabe Sapolsky, Ring Of Honor booker and long-time creative force behind the promotion's success was unceremoniously fired earlier this week by ROH owner Cary Silkin. While this comes as a shock to many ROH wrestlers and Sapolsky himself, it turns out the reasons might be more professional than personal.

Silkin is moving ROH towards a different business model, with negotiations for a television deal on the cards. Also, Sapolsky's tendency to make ROH over-accessible to the fans through wrestling websites and radio shows, while still being adamantly opposed to bringing ROH to television, may conflict with the new mainstream direction that ROH looks like it wants to take.

As of now, it seems that Bushwacker Luke Williams, a friend of Silkin and an experienced booker in his own right, will be stepping in to replace Sapolsky. Sapolsky himself will still be involved in booking Full Impact Pro, a smaller promotion that enjoyed a good working relationship with ROH as a result of Sapolsky's involvement.

I heard on gerweck.net that Adam Pearce is taking over booking. Either way, it looks like dark days ahead for ROH. Yes, that's what people want, stereotype 1970s wrestling...keep telling yourself that Cary. ROH was supposed to be the future of wrestling.
