New WWE Show in 2009

WGN, based out of Chicago has announced that it is entering the ring with the WWE in April of 2009.  WGN and WWE have entered into a 2 year agreement for this new Velocity / Heat type show.  The name of the show will be WWE Superstars, and will feature Divas and wrestlers from all 3 brands on a single one hour show.  The program is scheduled to air on Thursdays at 8 p.m. Eastern Standard Time and then again at 11 p.m. again that same night.  WGN also plans to air the program a third time sometime during the weekend.

Ed Wilson, Tribune Company's Chief Revenue Officer and Tribune Broadcasting President said "WWE is one of the great American brands on television and we are thrilled to announce our partnership. The addition of WWE Superstars to WGN America's lineup signals our intention to add more tent-pole programs to our network brand strategy. Going forward, we will play to win."

Kevin Dunn, WWE Executive Vice President of Television Production added "WWE programming has a tremendous track record of consistently delivering a diverse and advertiser friendly audience. We fully anticipate that WWE Superstars will be a ratings winner for WGN America,"

Great! Another show to see Finley and Hornswoggle. Yeah!! I hope they actually try to use some sort of storylines and feuds, rather than this be a clip show to promote Smackdown, RAW, ECW and whatever upcoming PPV.
