Paul Heyman has a new column up on the UK Sun's website, where he discusses how WWE has entered a "new golden age" in terms of "compelling villains".
He talks in great detail about how Superstars like John Bradshaw Layfield, Chris Jericho, Edge and Randy Orton have reinvented themselves to clearly demonstrate "the art of heeldom".
Heyman first discusses JBL's program with Shawn Michaels, and how making the bully character "far more subtle", "presented a truly despicable character... for the viewers to enjoy hating". He also praises Jericho for "a total transformation" into "an articulate villain who delivers his lines with little emotion but lots of conviction".
The founder of ECW saves his best praise for Edge and Orton, calling them "the best two heels of the new age". He lauds Edge for keeping his character "fresh but not cool, entertaining but not humourous, irresistable but not likeable". He also commends Edge for understanding how to keep his character "hated".
Heyman's column ends with non-stop praise about Randy Orton, calling him "the most riveting character WWE has ever presented" and gushing about how "he's broken new ground" and "given [audiences] a different perspective". Heyman seems particularly enamoured with the fact that Orton seems to be improving every week, and can't believe the Superstar is still under the age of 30.
Heyman puts Orton at the "head of the class".

hjahahahahahahahahahahaahahaha a new "Golden Age"? You have got to be kidding me. This is classic marketing at work. Tell the fans what the WWE wants you to believe, but disguise in the form of it being your own thoughts. Golden Age, give me a break. WWE absolutely sucks. Horrible writing. Wrestlers have no gimmicks and they can't sell what they do have. I wonder how much Heyman was paid to do this fluff piece. WWE has entered the "Golden Showers Era" is more like it.

Yea, ok. This statement leads me to believe Heyman was paid to say these things.

Heyman's right. I don't know about 'best character EVER', but Edge and Orton are great right now, and deserve high praise.

Heyman nailed almost every bit on the head, even if he did overblow it a bit. Hopefully, WWE *did* pay him off for this, because it tells us that they're following the smark comunity closely, they're going to put a lot more emphasis on Orton and Edge, they're going to continue letting the main faces fade into the background. Hell, Heyman never mentioned any of the top faces in this.

Oh, and just so yall know him being *paid off* to say this is kinda unlikely. Heyman's been blogging about these ideals for some time now, here he just brought it all together and got better coverage.
