Smackdown Results for 5/1 **Spoilers*

Here are the results for the 5/1 edition of Smackdown, taped last night:

The show began with the announcement of a big match. It will be a Fatal Four Way between Chris Jericho, Kane, Jeff Hardy, and Rey Mysterio with the winner becoming #1 Contender to Edge's title.

A segment begins with Chris Jericho in the ring. Jericho goes on about how he will be the most dominant superstar on the Smackdown roster. Edge interrupts and talks about how he has not lost to John Cena, but Jericho has. Edge keeps on berating Jericho and gets a nice pop. CM Punk emerges from the back. Punk shows the video of him defeating Edge for the World Title a while back. Both Y2J and Edge begin to insult Punk. An anouncement is made that CM Punk will take on Edge later on in the night in a non-title match. Punk promises to cash in his briefcase if he wins.

John Morrison b. Shelton Benjamin
 -Morrison hits a Moonlight Drive for the pinfall win.

Jeff Hardy b. Chris Jericho, Kane, and Rey Mysterio (Hardy is #1 contender to WHC)
 -Order of elimination from the match: Kane (by Jericho), Jericho (by DQ), Mysterio (by Hardy). Hardy hit a Hurricanrana into a pin for the win.

Cryme Tyme comes to the ring for their SD debut. They bring Eve and Layla to the ring. The girls have a dance-off with the crowd deciding the winner. Eve is the clear winner. Layla then attacked Eve from behind and JTG and Shad have to pull the two apart.

MVP b. Dolph Ziggler (US Title Match; MVP retains)
 -MVP hit a Playmaker and got the win.

CM Punk b. Edge (Non-Title)
 -CM Punk hits the GTS and at this point, cashes in his briefcase. Before he can pin Edge, Umaga comes out of nowhere and attacks him. Edge is about to pick up the pin, but Jeff Hardy comes out and hits a Swanton. The match is ruled a no-contest and Edge keeps his title. Punk leaves with his briefcase in hand.

   How did Punk cash in his MITB title shot in a non-title match? None of the reports on this site make any sense.

   First, Kane didn't win the briefcase at Backlash, it was a one-on-one match, as simple as you get.
   Second, CM Punk can cash in the briefcase whenever, wherever he wants. The match against Edge was a non-title match, but when CM Punk hit his finishing move, he cashed in and would have won the title if not for Umaga. It's a great move by the smackdown creative team, the briefcase is cashed, everybody is thinking in "new champ", and then Umaga strikes. CM Punk leaves with no title, but still with the briefcase. I love it! =)
   And Wash, if there's anything here who doesn't make any sense at all... is YOU...

   What I dont understand is, how can you cash in your MITB, a no decision is called and you walk out with the cashed in briefcase?????? AHHHHH Wasnt it cashed in?????? Why did he leave with it, That was his shot and Umaga messed it up, Sorry CM Punk in my book you no longer have the briefcase.

    No, there's going to be a big hubub over wether Punk's brief case is still valid or not, which is going to draw controversy and a big ol storyline his way, along with every chance in the world for a heel turn. Still dunno what the hell Hardy and Umaga were doing there lol, but then again I don't watch SD :p

    actually Umaga came in before the bell was rung attacked Punk and yeah you'll know the rest maybe...Umaga left Edge wanted to crack Punk with the briefcase Jeff comes in TOF SB show goes off.... :-p

    the ring didnt bell..so he didnt cash it in.He still has the MITB briefcase.And creed right before punk vs edge jericho was insulting teddy..then morrison came out of the lockerroom..they exchained insults..then jericho slapd him..and morrison striked back.
