Spike Exec Talks About WWE vs. TNA

In a recent interview, SpikeTV Senior VP of Sports and Specials Brian Diamond, talked about what he expects to happen on Monday night, as TNA Impact goes up against WWE Monday Night Raw:

"I don't think we're necessarily going to win that night ratings-wise, but I do feel we're best equipped going into battle with the product as it is right now. We're all feeling very excited and confident about taking a shot and throwing our hat into the ring."

Diamond spoke abut the input that the network has on what TNA does:

"Part of the discussion we have with TNA is what do we need to do to raise the bar and make things better. Stronger talents and storylines are the key."

He went on to say:

"We want to take a real close look at what worked on Monday night and what didn't. The good news is we're taking this plunge. It could open the door for a lot more opportunities for TNA on Spike. Competition is always good for the viewer. There are 10 million wrestling fans out there waiting for this moment."

Psh. Tyson Kid and DH Smith haven't done anything to deserve a title match, let alone a reign at the top. Facing Cryme Tyme every week on Superstars and Smackdown doesn't make you a worthy tag team. The Hart Dynasty is just mooching what it can off of Bret, Owen, The Anvil and the British Bulldog. Alot of talent try to pull it off, aka Sim Snuka, and we see where he's at now. If anything, on RAW Bret will help Jerishow regain the titles. It helps out a fellow countryman, and gets his revenge back on the company. Maybe Hacksaw and Lance Storm will pop up to form a team Canada while their at it.

TNA to beat WWE? if anyone really thinks that they must be high all tna is, is the wwe failures who wwe had no stories for or people they didn't need and to comment #4 ans #7 vince did say sorry to bret and he forgave vince in late 2008 or early 09 but bret said he wouldn't return to wwe until hbk and himself patched things up so i am assuming they did so

TNA Is using Hulk Hogan As a Sponge Soak Up whats left, and then throw him away. TNA has a lot of Washed Up WWE Stars and some Future ones 2, they arent PG because They Know it will hurt them even more, WWE though Went PG because of all the kids, lost Fans, Tna-Possible win, WWE-Possible TIE at Best, WWE just having a Regular Raw With Bret hart, TNA Has a Wild Show on a Special Night with a NEW Boss, TNA has the upperhand, WWE Has To Blow People Away TNA is Also On a Special Night...What Will Happen...TNA>WWE...WWE>TNA....WWE=TNA...We Have To Wait and See, News wasnt that great btw...

I don't think TNA will "win" but I am excited to see this as a wrestling fan. It's very encouraging to see SpikeTV stand behind TNA as it has. Hopefully this will push the marketplace as a whole to better the current televised product... WWE, TNA, and RoH as well.

If I could bet on who would "win" I'd rather give a homeless guy $10 instead of betting it on TNA. I do aplaud the effort though, it will result in a better WWE product and without the head to head battle we wouldn't have seen Bret Hart back in a million years

Well I know one thing TNA isnt going to win in rating .. AT .. Vince made sure that this Raw Jan 4th would Spot Light the return of Bret.. who's to say that Bret will show up.. Bret naturally doesnt like Vince's direction.. BUT since WWE went PG i guess Bret's good side is likely to return.. Plus The Hart foundation .. WILL Be tag champs lol and more soon lol

Better talent and storylines are not the key, better matches and a better product is.

The chances of TNA winning are really low, I think doing this Monday Night show thing is to big of a risk, they should get a bigger fan base first. They only have about, what, 1000 fans on one of there shows or something? I'm not a fan of the PG WWE, but it kinda makes sense, you get little kids into the show, then when they grow up, there going to still be watching WWE.

I think Vince already owns TNA and this is the master plan! Too many WWE talent over there that would be insane to leave, and the format is looking like WWE brand.

I think TNA is gonna win because i remember kevin nash saying that the group is gonna return, so if i can think of it NWO is the only group that kevin nash has been on in the whole of TNA
If they do return it would mean high rating or it could be bigger than the NWO, who knows.

I think the winners here are us, it's a good time to be a wrestling fan. As for Bret Hart, I think it will be a short lived thing, just to get them through the next pay per view as opposed to Hogan being in for the long hall. Granted, Hogan brought in a bunch of washed up wrestlers though it was nice to see them again. Then again, Bret Hart wasnt looking to hot himself. As for this first show, I liked TNA better because as we know, the WWE has been so predictable for years (YAWN). I think I will do the wait and see aproach and just enjoy the competition as it stands, meanwhile, I am sure that Hogan has other wrestlers lined up. Vince on the other hand, has burnt alot of bridges and it's obvious that it's catching up to him. TNA may not win the war, but they "will" be stiff competition.

WWE will certainly win since they have better qualified wrestlers than TNA. WWE has an upper hand.
