Ok...my thoughts on the matches of the evening...
Jeff Hardy vs MVP:
Weak at best. Too short, and predictable (i.e, Jeff again beat himself). Rating: D+
Kingston/James vs Marella/Phoenix:
Actually, to me, this was the most interesting of the early matches. Very entertaining, and with an ending that was actually satisfying. Rating: B+
Mark Henry vs Matt Hardy:
Predictably lame. At least the World's Sweatiest Man got a Hardy Boys Suplex. Rating: D+
CM Punk vs JBL:
Um...it was different. Not exactly what I expected, but also not very satisfying. Still, it did hold my interest....somewhat. Rating: B-
John Cena vs David Batista:
Overall, a decent match. Would have been better to have been for a title or at least built up for a longer period of time, but still, not bad. Rating: B/B+
HHH vs Khali:
Lame and predictable. HHH goes for the Pedigree & fails. Khali locks in the vice grip, but HHH gets to the ropes. HHH goes for a Pedigree & fails again. Khali does another vice grip, and again HHH eventually gets out. Khali can't wrestle, HHH can...and 3rd Pedigree attempt is the charm...HHH wins. The "You CAN'T WRESTLE" chants were good though. Rating: C
Undertaker vs Edge:
Um...if it wasn't for the cuts periodically to see the reaction of "La Familia", it would have been stellar. Great match, great pace, and great way to end it. Personally, I think the chokeslam from the ladder through the ring apron was a bit over the top...but the match was otherwise a great one. Tons of highlights galore. Rating: A-/A
Overall, Summerslam should have instead been called Summerslump. I see an inherent problem with WWE trying to push so many PPVs on the fans. The result is very predictable but ineffective build up time leading to all of these PPVs. Taker v Edge had a solid build up of what...3 to 5 months?!? Hence it was really the ONLY satisfying match. What Vince should do to boost ratings and PPV revenues is simple: make FEWER pay-per-views, but more thought out storylines. There was a reason Hulk Hogan's reign as champ was so well received (the first time anyway): it's because every single opponent he faced had a HUGE build up leading up to the biggest matches, esp Wrestlemania. That simply doesn't happen because there are too many PPVs that get in the way. Just my thoughts.
Oh...as for HBK's alleged retirement, don't buy it for a second. He did the same crap with Bret Hart, if people remember. Also, expect an HBK vs Jericho match for the next PPV (predictable...*yawn*).

Is it just me or did they change the rules to that "Winner Take All" tag match? Adamle first made it sound like whoever got the pinfall/submission won both titles.

You forgot the HBK segment. HBK announced that he's going to retire, then Y2J came out making HBK admitted that Y2J was the reason why HBK had to retire. Just about when HBK walks off with his wife, Y2J going for a cheap shot but end up hitting Rebecca (HBK's wife).

Another crappy PPV by the WWE. These guys are lame. Does anybody lose titles on the PPV anymore? What a fall from grace. It's like they intentionally don't want fans.
