"The Wrestler" receives praise

Entertainment Weekly has reviewed "The Wrestler" and given it an 'A' grade. Calling it a "rare movie fairy tale that's also a bravura work of art", the review praises lead Mickey Rourke as "more than ever - a great actor".

Interestingly enough, though, the reviewer seems to actually appreciate the reality behind the wrestling industry shown in the movie, speaking of how touching it is that two feuding wrestlers "actually love and support each other". He also speaks of the kind of pain wrestlers go through, including a blading scene and a hardcore match involving barbed wire and a staple gun.

Unfortunately, Iran has taken offense at the main nemesis of the film, the Iranian flag-waving heel The Ayatollah, calling the depiction "the latest manifestation of Western prejudice toward Iran in Hollywood films".
