It was reported here earlier that Time Warner users in the Los Angeles area, may be on the verge of losing MyNetworkTV, the home of Smackdown due to a contract dispute between Time Warner and FOX. It appears that this situation has taken a turn for the worse.
Arbitration had been reached between Time Warner and the FCC, which would keep the Fox networks, which include MNT, on Time Warner for a short time. But FOX has declined the arbitration offer and a deadline has been set. If no deal is made by Friday of this week, the networks will all be pulled, including MyNetworkTV, and Smackdown will not be seen in the LA area.

I get the feeling it's the same Mr Detroit just using different names and trying to get a rise.
I'm suprised we didn't have a vicious stab at Dr Death like he did Bobby Heenan.

You know what...this news is too limited. The reality is THE ENTIRE NETWORK of TimeWarner (TW) Broadcasting is having issues with Fox Corp. As a result, it won't be JUST the LA area that loses out on MyNetworkTV (and Smackdown), but all TimeWarner users all over the country. In Livonia, MI, BrightHouse (a subsidiary of TW) is in the same boat. And what has Fox Corp. done locally to Livonia, MI? The company is having the local TV news anchors on Fox News make a plea to their viewers to call TW and complain about potentially losing out on Fox channels, and that the only alternative would be to sign up for Comcast (um...Livonia residents can't...their cable company choices is limited to only BrightHouse), DirecTV, DishNetwork, or over-the-air digital TV. This is why I don't bother with cable or satellite.

Typical Republican tactic to ask for more money, threaten to take shows away unless they get their pay raise.

It's true, this situation is not just limited to LA. Every cable carrier is being hit by this because whoever leads the subsidaries is demanding more money from carriers to air FOX and other stations. Which they have done every year for the past three years. Which is why basically DirectTV is trying to pounce on it, saying if you want to watch, you get them, while the cable providers are trying to get people to report things to the FCC to take actions against them for anti-consumer practices.

I'm living near Tampa Bay and we are having a similiar situation with BrightHouse. What I have heard is that Fox is asking for more money to renew their contract. My understanding as of yesterday is that between BrightHouse and Fox, they have reached a temporary, 30 day deal that would suspend BrightHouse customers from losing Fox this week. They are running ads on TV and radio in the area to get people to voice that they dont want to lose Fox Networks.
