Update on WWE Wellness Policy

It is being reported on WWE.com that the following has been added to the WWE's Wellness Policy:

"WWE has eliminated using folding metal chairs to 'strike' an opponent in the head. The WWE penalizes through fine and/or suspension the following: The intentional use of a folding chair to 'strike an opponent in the head. Any blow to the head that is deemed an intentional act."

It is unclear if this is a storyline or if the WWE is legit with this report

Guys in their 20's don't play with toys and buy posters and stickers and t-shirts and hats... (at least they shouldn't )so they make more with pulling in the little kids. Problem is they have to prove to the parents that it's PG so they make it even taimer then it needs to be.

bottem line... WWE is for 13 and under
Go to TNA if you want Attitude Era Action
(Which lets face it, all us 20'somethings do)

i just realized that it says 'blows to the head', so i guess they can still use chairs, like for a Van Daminator, but won't be used as often because of the PG BS

It wouldn't surprise me if this is legit, to try to reduce concussions. Repeated concussions from blows to the head was likely the cause of Chris Benoit's fatal dimentia.
I don't like the creative restrictions, but if it keeps wrestlers healthier, I can deal with it.

Keep in mind that this might only restrict UNPROTECTED blows to the head. Maybe not, but maybe wrestlers who put their hands up - and thus are getting hit in the hands or arms - may sidestep the rule. There's nothing against hitting people in the back with a chair either.

There kinda is a dress code. Last year CM Punks push was cut short becuase he refused to dress smart outside the ring. This was seen as a sign of disrespect from Punk. The PG stuff is the kinda product that Vinnie Mac will always try to get WWE to push out. The last time WWF/WWE was as dominant as it is now was in the late 80's and this is exactly the same kind of product it was pushing then. The attitude era only came about becuase Vince was forced into it when WCW was kicking his ass and he was making massive losses. Also don't forget this. Vince hayes wrestling. He sees himself as a media mogul, not a wrestling promoter. Which is weird when you consider how good the business has been to him. He resents the way the mainstream tv looks down on wrestling and this is why he wants to prove himself in another field (hence the failed XWF and the late 80's early 90's bodybuilding league that he funded, that collapsed). This is also why he continues to churn out crappy movies that make little money or a loss.

Ya know I haven't had a problem with PG until this. They just destroyed the fundamental weapon of wrestling which has been prominently used for OVER 50 years.

This is not about PG it's about health of the stars you love to watch chair shots are bad.

John, have you seen the WrestleMania's the WWE has put on in the past few years? To say they suck would be a MONUMENTAL understatment! Lets take a look at this years WM, of the seven matches (7.. for a FOUR HOUR PPV), there is only one that will eb really entertaining (Money in the Bank) and a second that could be (Taker v. HBK) and even that might be a let down. The WWE wrestlers havn't cared for their product for years, and it is showing in their performance in ring. 90% of TNA's weekly show is better then pretty much every WWE PPV, WM is usually included in that statment. Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of both TNA and WWE, but, WWE has been on a huge decline over the past few years. It is only coming to a greater head now, and, it is getting more and more promanant.

To all the people who applaud this...

These are people who put thier bodies on the line for entertainment. Its not to the WWE to say "bannign a chair shot is good" it is up the wrestlers to say "I am willing" or "I am not willing to have this happen to me." The wrestlers arent children, if they are concerned about getting a concussion, they should not have the move done on them. Managmenent sgouldnt dictate for them.

Posted by X on Thursday, March 18, 2010

  22. Comment #22

I have to agree with X here - Let the wrestlers decide if they want to take the shot or not. Foley consciously made the decision to destroy his body every time he hit the ring... and that's what made him. Without the option to do that... who knows. On the same hand they should have the option NOT to take the shots without repercussions (obv. they wouldn't get any) I'm not saying I want a chair shot to the head every night... but I want the hope of a chair shot to the head every once and a while.

I'm constantly amazed by this WWE vs TNA row, it's all wrestling, it's mostly the same wrestlers moving from one brand to the other, Since WWE bought up all the competition, it's been painfully clear that wrestling needs more than 1 big promotion to keep the shows from going stale, is wrestling at a peak right now? Absolutly not, should kids be seeing wrestlers split open with chairs? Nope. Is WWE for kids now? Yep, and girls too for some reason.

The wellness policy has now been added to a list of moves that also may strike the head. Any and all variations of the following moves, but not limited to: DDTs, Hurricanranas, suplexes, power bombs, face busters, fireman carries, clotheslines, any and all punches, elbows, knees, headbutts or kicks to the head and or any other means at which they head may be struck. It is now suggested that wrestling matches consist primarly if not exclusively to chops and slaps.

Frank... Please do not forget... No Codebreakers, Pedigrees, GTS's, and many other finishers. For now on... Wrestlers must use only anklelock's no crossface's or sleeperholds allowed.

Those moves you listed are included in the list as varations. Update. Also all forms of Headlocks or moves that grasp the head as well as neckbreakers and cutters.

If you let them decide they will say hit me just like a football player will choose to play if given the choice.
then they will regret it when they're older and can't take care of themselves or can't function with out help.

Chairshots have always been illegal in regular matches. This just means a bigger risk. When the ref catches you doing it, not only do you get a big L, you will also lose a portion of that measelly purse the losers get. This just means the superstars will train harder to get that winner's purse without trying to take shortcuts.

next is not sledgehammers, ladder or tables - its PUNCHING - because a KO Punch from big show is worse than a tin foil chair ... no more legdrops because it can hit you in the head, no more Khali finisher (chop to head) etc... NOW I KNOW WHY SPONGEBOB IS GETTING BETTER RATINGS
