Vince protects HHH from getting screwed
Vince McMahon seems to be protecting his son in law by making sure he will not get in a full-on program with Edge right now. He doesn't want HHH to become the guy that would get constantly screwed by Edge and Vickie. A more plausible candidate to play the victim here would be Jeff Hardy, although it is not sure that he'll have to take on this role at this moment.

I still don't buy the whole Vince decided to let Jeff have the belt 2 weeks prior to the ppv. I think HHH dropped the belt to Edge so that Edge would be know as the guy who dropped the belt to Jeff Hardy. Kind of like when Edge had to lose the belt to CM Punk a few months ago.

What I don't believe is that we are witnessing a "re-run" of Edge and Vickie :P. it's an old story and i just can't believe that nobody manage to come up with anything better then this.
