WWE Divas are 'Horribly Disadvantaged'

In an interview given to 'One Sided Ring', Maria Kanellis speaks about being released by WWE.

Maria says that the reason that she left WWE was because she was not allowed to do much of what she dreamed and despite giving alot of ideas to the creative team, the latter only used few: "I wasn't allowed to do as much as I wanted to do. I had all these great, creative ideas and was constantly entering them into the WWE creative, but I couldn't use a lot of them."

Maria also criticizes the way that Divas are treated as inferior to the male superstars because of the time allocated for them and this hindered Maria's development: "The Divas weren't given enough time, which I think is a horrible, horrible disadvantage that the girls have. I felt like I was held back - all the time.

Maria says that if Divas are given more time, a lot of improvement would occur: "I wonder what would really happen if the Divas were given that much time. I don't know if it's that they think the Divas can't sell tickets, but I truly believe in the Divas division and always will. I think they are missing out on a lot of talent right there."

Maria beleives that WWE's release was a good thing as it opened new horizons for her, now as a Backstage Interviewer for MMA Events on HDNet: "That's one reason I'm not sad [WWE] fired me. I got eight minutes of time on an MMA show to just talk to people and that was amazing. WWE never gave me eight minutes the entire time I was there."

And in less than a week, another WWE release says that the release from the company was not a sad thing but an improvement for the career.

I somewhat agree with you MVD, but you need to realize to that these superstars have been fired, and maybe, just MAYBE, they're a little bitter about it just want to take a few shots at the WWE. I'm not saying that the WWE treated them fairely, just that people usely don't speak kindly of an employer who fires them.

Yes infact I wish to correct myself - these 2 are the absolute minority in WWE -i just dont agree with WWE's way or ruling as if a dictatorship

You know what happens when you give women a chance and time to wrestling? You get TNA KNockout (before Hogan regime), you get SHIMMER, you get Joshi over in japen. WWE, go to youtube, look it out, buy the dvds, then WATCH AND TAKE NOTE.

The fact of the matter is that nobody tunes into wrestling to watch the divas *or Knocups* who can honestly sit there and tell me that when they turn on wrestling they are thinking to themselves "Gee I really want to see some women wrestling!" NOBODY! I may come off sounding like an asshole here, but I speak the truth so deal with it.

What if they make a new WWE : World Womens Entertainment, and instead of the line being red, it be pink ! :D

The MMA gig seems to be better anyway. I mean good talking and good looks equal $$$$ from that job. WWE is going to hell altogether anyway... Let me rephrase that mainstream WRESTLING is going to hell in general. WWE with PG ratings, TNA with the WCW flavor returning thasnks to Hogan and ROH with it's budgeted production that makes it HARD to watch.

Fact: TNA Knockouts are well respected among the prowrestling comunity for their talent and matches.

Fact: Divas are and jave always been considered as a side show to WWE among pro wrestling fans

Well Maria does have a point, WWE divas aren't given the proper direction to be actual wrestlers. But I don't believe the WWE really cares about the women's division anymore. Sure they had some decent talent in the past but other then maybe Natalia and Beth, they lack skills and strength in this generation. TNA is only slightly better really. Bottom line is that for the most part they're just there for the t&a.

comment #10 has a point, at least for WWE. TNA treats the knockouts like any other division. This week wasn't the first time that the Knockouts had the last quarter of TNA Impact.

*sigh* When we watch wrestling, we want to see action. People getting slammed to the ground, getting punched across the face, etc. We DON'T watch wrestling to see people pulling each others hair, smacking each other and moaning when they try to kick. Please don't get me wrong, I have nothing against girls and women but if WWE had more diva matches then chances are...they would get less viewers.

MAN THEY SHOULD HAVE A WWE DIVAS SHOW ON WENDSDAY. WWE/TNA DONT HAVE WRESTLING ON WEDNSDAY

she wants them to get as much time as the men the men only get 8 to minutes at most in their matches as well.

Honestly, who bothers to watch Maria wrestle? Heck, I don't even want to see her talk. Simply get her naked in my bed, and let me enjoy. Other than that, she can sit back and shut her pie hole.
