WWE Chairman Vince McMahon says that he is planning to launch a WWE Television Network by June-August 2011.
He said that the Network is already in the works.
"Right now, we're continuing along the lines of a formula in which we will soon be presenting and taking the next steps. We think there is tremendous opportunity," he said. "If things happen as we hope, it will be a really big game-changer. There is huge opportunity as it relates to domestically and internationally. We are pursuing that and taking the next steps."
Vince McMahon doesn't think that the current TV partners associated with the WWE will mind promoting their new network around the programming schedule of the WWE unlike the NFL.
Vince said that WWE has plans to keep Monday Night Raw on the USA Network while Smackdown's future is uncertain.
"The strategy will be maintaining the broadcasts, therefore, keeping Raw on USA Net for many years to come and find a really strong home, whether it be MyNet or someone else, for Smackdown," he said. "We don't see any interruption for Raw or Smackdown. The new network could tie-in to Raw and Smackdown and enhance the two brands."

For everybody that has been saying Vince has lost his touch on how to be a succesfull businessman; Na Na Na Na Na. I think this is a logical step for WWE, they're big enough to cut out the middle man. But they absolutely have to make sure they make it a big succes cause it will cost a large amount of WWE's capital.

The WWE video library alone can run this network for months on end.

I agree re video library. The question is will it be part of a basic cable package, or an independent channel add-on like HBO is? Personally, I think he should go back to offering everything via over-the-air broadcasting will be far lucrative, but Vince burned that bridge when he screwed up his association with NBC for Saturday Night's Main Event. Has anyone else noticed how much that show sucks since it has been brought back? It used to stand for sweet matches that were essentially pay-per-view worthy, but on SNME instead as a way to add to the storyline and appease the fans until the next PPV. Now, you're lucky to see a decent match at all, let alone a solid 3 or 4 of them. Ah well...WWE will burn out into the garbage that it's become...barring them raking in serious cash between now and the launch of that WWE channel.

I think this is a bad step. What programs could they possibly have other than recap shows?

this could be the thing that could launch vince up into the next level.....IF he does it right, and it sounds like he isn't rushing into anything so thats a good sign
one possibility could be to start showing house shows on the new network, and actually move storylines on those shows that normally dont get a mention at all besides when someone gets injured, they would be able to do so much more if they would do that;
